This is such a great channel. Ollie's quiet style and humility are refreshing, and his expertise is wonderful to watch. Thank you for taking us along and showing us your beautiful country and its marine life.
What an episode. Hands down best content in this genre on the net anywhere i reckon by far. Spear fishing, catch n cooks, camping, your kick back humble as dont talk too much shit like most of them lol
I recommend key west waterman for similar vibes - underwater commentary paired with insane spearfishing skill. For rod and reel and kayak fishing, Rokkit kit is pretty dang good too and just about the most humble guy I’ve ever seen.
Cheers mate, appreciate that. definitely enough yelling and screaming 'survival' stuff out there. Feel free to comment any suggestions or feedback for me to better my videos, just want to share what i experience and if i can do that better let me know. Cheers, Ollie
Ollie you’re an absolute beast. Don’t understand how you’re so confident while spearing alone. Damn impressive. Enjoy some fresh yellowtail sashimi for me!
As a Pacific Islander living in the USA, I salute you! That scene with your king fish and sharks following you made me nervous as hell lol. Great video, Ollie! Keep up the great work 🤙🏼
I finally found "the channel". The spearo, the fish, the boat, the bells and whistles and the tricks and the nature are so genuine and authentic. Why did it took me so long to discover this gem? Shame on you youtube algo!
Because I didn't Write 'Survival Challenge' or some other bullshit. Please share around to like minded! As like you said, Algorythms don't favour such content. Cheers!
That was so intense with that massive kingy..to be doing that in that bit of water solo, that was not far off being a full blown shitshow…. In that current, solo with water in the goggles while hugging the catch while it’s still thrashing… while trying to swim against the current… with the bronze in a place you can’t see.. That is heart pumping. Don’t do that solo people, this fella is very very experienced and manages to stay calm because he knows exactly what is going on based on experience. But don’t do this solo. ❤
Living on the wild side today mate, amazing fish bro. Stay safe out there Ollie and thank you for taking us on your adventures and sharing your life and passions here with us here.
I am from NZ also and really enjoy watching your spearfishing and cooking adventure. Suggest also to camp and cook onshore as before to showcase spectacular view of NZ
I've been watching some of your videos and I'm amazed at the amount of fish that congregate on the shallow reefs. Thank you very much for your hard work, and for putting out such outstanding videos.
Where you get to call home is such a beautiful place! Epic fish, and the new boat is looking 🔥. Keep trusting your gut and stay safe on these solo missions bro!
Another superb video, beautifully made and narrated. I also really enjoy your background music, very appropriate - not noisy and jarring like so much of the (so called) music that accompanies most UA-cam videos these days. Thanks and please keep up the good work!
Brilliant episode for sure… takes me back to when my grandparents were light house keepers there and I was fortunate enough to do boating as a kid and visit the last keepers before the light was automated. Thanks heaps….by the way, those mozzies are brutal….they come in from grouper rock, I think when the wind is Nor westerly…they are big brutes too! Cheers
Ollie you have balls of steel, buy I hope you don't have to change your channel to Lefty Craig in the near future. Love the beautiful waters and adventure. Great video and stay safe.
Man that was a cool trip. Don’t think I’d have the nerve to hang onto a thrashing kingie with all the sharks taking an interest! Nice job Ollie, keep it up.
Ollie this one is truly a banger 🙌 your breathe hold is amazing 👏 Love seeing each upload you post! You and the boat seem to evolve in each one 💪 The tent set up is epic! Would it be possible to get some sort of mosquito netting fitted to tent cover? The paua and onion looked really yummy also that snapper curry ohh drooling over here 😂 Your journey has been epic man keep em coming 🙌 😎
Got YOU King Fish !! Nicely Done, Ollie .. I clean (gut) my fish and put them in the cooler (Eskie) on ICE bottles, just like you have done. & (Ice in the gut cavity) . Most Excellent. Smashing open Sea urchins is a brilliant strategy to lure in big snapper. You have a top notch channel. one of the best. Boat, tricks, and intelligence. all A plus.
Ollie How Do. Just quintessential chap. Absolute admiration for the respect you afford all species below the boat and totally commendable your respect for your boat & gear. Perfectly tidy. Be very proud of yourself. With Best Regards Sam.
Bloody love your vids you have taught me heaps. It would be good to see you measure your abs first, they're known to die after ripping them off rocks. You do you. But it will definitely help the fishery if everyone did measure them first.
Hello Legend, First of all , HHHhUUUGGGEEE thank you for the adventures. I’m writing to you as I would like to suggest you that you should meet up with Mat from Pelagic Pursuit. 1- your UA-cam channel sound similar , 2- both of you have a deep respect for the environment , 3- both of you are passionate about pursuing fish . Thank you once again for all . Chris from Crete
What a life. Much respect from Tennessee USA. Bucket list to spear New Zealand and the Great Barrier…..the Caribbean has to work for me one but one day I’ll make it over to Tattoo and fish. Good vibes from the 1313Ink Family
Wow that was amazing Ollie 👏 sharks were scary 🙏 beast of a kingy omg the Paua yummmm snapper dish looked delish. So many fish awwww the turtle 🐢 beautiful ...absolutely stunning footage mate 👌 good stuff .... Mozzie net 😂 Cheers
Did a fish just go vampire on your hand at the exact same time you shot here?? 16:45 Epic video brother! Would love to go fishing with you next time I’m in NZ! It’s always felt like home!
and once again you bring life to our eyes that we love watching your footage that you bring and may you never ever give this up for we the people think you f#cking rock at this so please never stop 👊🏽
New to the channel and 😲 omg what an epic journey. Thank you so much for sharing your dives and adventures. I'll probably never get to New Zealand so thank you for sharing.
You could inc7a folding down bed system where you placed your mattress and sleeping bag, possibly. Brilliant video thank you so much for the journey stay safe ❤
Thanks for sharing those great experiences Ollie. also reminded me the same when traveling south in Milford, I recall I have to hide in the sleeping bag leavings only one tiny hole for breathing.
Love the boat. What a great place full of life. "Balls of steel" Alone spearing with so many whalers crazy stuff don't push your luck like that too many times. A big whaler took a swimmer down my local Tarthra Beach a few years back they only found small bits of her.
..late-bloomer to your content Ollie....now on a binge bro! ..damn fit az bro!...gonna try some of your recipes i saw you done doing solo fishing trips....btw you handled that sticky situation getting yourself and that yellow fin bk to the boat safely...."lungs and stamina for days!" 💯👌
Damn. Watching that return to the boat with the kingy had my heart pumping! Epic boat setup mate. Would be awesome to spend a summer with something like that. Interesting turtle encounter! A mate and I encountered one earlier this year on the East Coast of Tassie. Guess they're learning that the best Seagrass is further south!
Hands down my favourite spearfishing channel. Gutsy diving on your own, you'll have to come over here to South Australia and I'll show you some massive green lip abs
Haha, beats shark week on nat geo. Good footage. We get mosquitos and some horrendous version of sand flies almost every night here in Thailand. It’s full tent or die and even then they get in.
Another cool vid! Thanks Ollie. Would love to see some complete dives including surfacing to give us an idea of depth and down time. Interesting interview on Noob Spearo podcast too! Keep them coming
nice that you id the fish . good to see that you dont take a full limit also. try burning those green mosquito coils inside your tent they should keep those blood suckers away. cheers for the cool vid.
Tumeki ollie!!.Just so priviledged here in NZ. Amazing trip for yourself in ur new Boat!! well done...hope it serves you well ollie, well deserved bro..What make is your boat? Churr my gee..keep safe bro!!!
Great vid mate.. I’m Auckland based.. but spend a bit of time on the Coromandel.. I’ve been kept out of the water for a few years now. Slowly recovering from a few medical issues.. looking forward to getting back into spearfishing this next summer..
Love your videos Ollie! Always gets me stoked to get in the water! Have you checked out thermacell? It would have kept those pesky mozzies away from you all night for sure! I live in Florida and know all to well how annoying those things can be! Whether you’re sitting in the blind hunting or on the boat near shore. Cheers! Keep the footage coming!
Yo bro. Yeah awesome bit ov footage there. Those sharks were pretty keen on some free kingfish. You looked bugged and happy to get back to the boat. New boat is algood. More room get that tent sorted at the back and good to go.
Outstanding video Ollie . Even with packs of bronzies and hordes of mossies , you still got the job done . Might pay to show the olds an edited version though 😂 !
UA-cam algorithm needs to make this channel blow up...
Imagine the content he could create with overva million subscribers
This is such a great channel. Ollie's quiet style and humility are refreshing, and his expertise is wonderful to watch. Thank you for taking us along and showing us your beautiful country and its marine life.
What an episode. Hands down best content in this genre on the net anywhere i reckon by far. Spear fishing, catch n cooks, camping, your kick back humble as dont talk too much shit like most of them lol
I agree with you cuz, NZ is one of the only places left in the world that has fish life like the rest of the oceans used to.
we really shouldn't advertise it @@aleho1
I recommend key west waterman for similar vibes - underwater commentary paired with insane spearfishing skill. For rod and reel and kayak fishing, Rokkit kit is pretty dang good too and just about the most humble guy I’ve ever seen.
