Excellent video. I'm curious if you can use the rear A/C unit without the car being turned on; lets say we rewiring the controls and power via battery bank. Is this a possibility?

I’m not sure if the back AC could run without the van being on. When I researched cutting the AC lines I saw you would have to recharge the system for the front AC to work again. Not sure if the back AC would have to have its own refrigeration system.

    Question
I want to open each headliner segment to place insulation (rolls) and run some wires. It appears that I could do this one panel at a time by opening the front end only. Do you agree that is possible for all panels? Thanks ahead of time.

The panels overlap a couple inches. So it's possible because they're soft and you could force them out. They sit on top of the pillars and are held by magnets. You just have to be careful of the wires already installed for the lights. Those need to be unclipped if your removing the whole panel. Hope this helps.

@@ChilliesWorld thanks. I don’t need to remove wires. Side bars are magnetic? I want to run cable down from roof. Thanks for quick response. Washington NE area.

@@liveworkplayvans I believe there are 4 magnets glued to each headliner piece to hold it up. You should be fine bringing a wire in from the roof and then pulling the headliner down just enough to put your hand up there to grab the wire and fish it through.

How are you going to get those airbags to work properly and also cover them so it looks good but the cover comes off without harming the passenger or whom ever is in the back at the time. Not to mention doing it to Code, whereby, you are going to be able to keep it insured with your non engineering approved capabilities?.

I have no engineering experience and am a complete amateur when it comes to van building. All the videos I've watched just show people taking out the airbags, and using resistors to prevent error codes from showing. Not sure if doing that is up to code or if it affects insurance by doing that. The reason I'm keeping the airbags are because of this video by Ford crashing their Transit vans ua-cam.com/video/IDR_ThWrKNU/v-deo.html . The air bags run from the front all the way to the back. I didn't want to take out airbags that would protect me while driving. Since no one has put up any videos on how to do it, I've decided to share with people how I've done it. I'll have that video edited and up in a few weeks, and will try to answer every question you have and any other questions people have. Thanks for watching!
