    Great Video Chris! I have a 2019 Transit 350 XLT LWB passenger van and I and doing the same thing at this very moment. Tonight I just got the ceilings pulled down and getting ready to cut in two MaxxAir 6" exhaust fans. I will be bypassing the rear curtain airbags, and add solar and house wiring. Then installing insulation. Gotta work fast cuz the Florida Heat is coming, and my Transit is Black! Keep the videos coming!

    You want to definitely pull the the pillar cladding off first...then take each headliner phase off fully, one by one, starting at the back with removing the door striker cover...each wire is connected to the back of each phase, so, once you take a phase off, you have easy access to the wiring hardshells on the next phase.

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  3 роки тому

      I actually only removed the headliner so I could cut some holes to install lights. Afterwards I put the headliner back up. I also did not touch the airbags at all and I purposely did not place anything in the way of the airbags because safety is my first priority so I did not want to modify the airbags in any way. With 2 small kids I also had to leave a rear row of seats and I want to keep the airbags for safety but I want to add insulation and paneling for aesthetics. Hi Mark. I removed the headliner to install ceiling lights and running some wires. For safety, I'm leaving the airbags untouched and I'm also not modifying the duct work. Hey Christopher - thanks for these - they are really helpful as I'm going through my own van build over the last couple months (with more to go). I have a question about the plastic barbed connectors in the headliner - I'm thinking to buy more (do they have an official name?) and insert them into other places in the headliner to serve as a place to secure cargo net so I can store my window coverings. Do you think this would work? I'm not sure how the bolt-thingy would stay secure if it wasn't inserted in the intended location (and perhaps to the frame itself). TIA for any insight you can share. Hope you're making great family memories in that van!

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  3 роки тому +1

      That is a good question but unfortunately I'm not sure how it would work if it wasn't in the intended location. There are other holes that it should probably fit in. That being said, I've backed out one of the plastic bolts just a little and used it to hand stuff from so it is pretty strong.

    We have a similar van for our conversion and we are thinking about keeping the headliner (for now) and putting in some mounting points through the headliner and attaching them to the van frame behind - e.g. with an extra long eye bolt that goes through the headliner and bolts the frame. Have you come across anyone doing this, or have any thoughts about it?

    • @ChristopherLum
