With the 12 hour grace period and auto warmup on insertion you will probably be able to have no wait times now between sensors! Insert new one 27 mins before you stop your current sensor! Really exciting 😀
That's what I'm wondering if we'll be able to do. That will be a game changer
Eversense??
@@ChrisdlcChrisdlc SENS to the moon?
As my son's caretaker (he's 11) I can't help but tear up every time I see something released that will make this easier. This condition as a parent is completely consuming. The Omnipod 5 and Dexcom G7 in the same year is a miracle.
Personally I prefer a wired insulin pump. However, I can see how people would like to use wireless systems to help with safety issues. But from my previous experiences with the omnipod, wired is alot more accurate when it comes to bolus calculations.
My grandson is 6 and has a dex and an omni we really love both! Very excited about the smaller dex and Omni😊👍thanks for sharing your experience! Appreciated
Thanks @Nerdabetic! Those are great news. Just switched from the Freestyle Libre 2 to the G6 and can’t wait to switch to G7. Now only Omnipod 5 is missing. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you for the info😊👍excited
Again a great clear video. Thanks!
Great video. Look forward to this arriving in Australia in 2065
"Covid" 😂
Thought more 2085 lmao
Eversense
Looking forward to testing it soon!
Thank you for this great information, but do you have definite information when it can be used for diabetics in Europe and especially in the Netherlands?
Can't wait!
Fantastic!!!!
Hello, please do you know what is the lenght of the insertion cannula ? shorter than G6 ? is it straight, or oblique to fit into the skin ? Thank you Chris
Great video, any news on extra features with the follow app ?
And as an Android user, I hope Dexcom updates their list of Android Devices, that the App is compatible with. Upgrading phones is the worst stressful complaint, about Dexcom.
you can use the byod app with almost any android device and it works great. it saves me when i upgraded my phone to a google pixel 6 that is still not supported officially 8 months after launch
We just are just ordering an iPhone. Looks like most Android devices aren't supported, just a small handful of manufactureres. Even then, we will have to order an older model - for instance G7 does not support iPhone 13 and Decom One does not support the latest iPhone SE. As we don't know what Dexcom we need yet, trying to choose. a suitable phone is not easy for a 70 year old buying his first smart phone.
@@danquixote6072 I would find a family member, who's tech savvy and build your own app. The link should be available in the comments.
But I agree, and as I originally stated, as much as I love Dexcom, their IT app support is a 1 rating, on a 1-10.
@@WASN55 I am the tech savvy one in the family! 😂. Quite like the idea of building an app. I will look into it but will probably just get him an iphone anyway. He's got an ipad already and knows where he is with that. Thanks for the response, appreciate it.
@@danquixote6072 ok, sorry misunderstood your 70 yo sentence. Reddit has great Dexcom sub reddits that I know for sure will have the url link.
Cheers!
does ithe G7 still have 5 min intervalls between readings or is also down to 1 min like the FL3 ?
I can't wait to get the G7 in Canada! Any dates for that yet?
AWESOME
I’m curious to see how the new sensor/transmitter automatic injector works in comparison 😊
That is actually shorter than an afternoon tea 😂😂 👍🏻
Totally! I can’t consume scones this fast.
Can’t wait…..
Can the people have g6 will be available to upgrade?? Also will G7 work with omnipod 5 ?
Hi, I would like to know if the dexcom g7 only works with iPhone and Samsung like the dexcom g6 or also with other android devices, thanks
When will the Dexcom 7 be released in the USA. My husband uses the Dexcom g6 right now. Can’t wait for the 7 to come out
I am very excited for the G7, but I hope that they do something with the adhesive! I get bad chemical burns from the current adhesive. It’s nothing that my under and over patches don’t fix, but still!
I use liquid Skin-Tac on the adhesive part of my CGM. It really helps.
Yeah: Champus!!🍾🍾
My number 1 hope for G7 is reduced sensor error messages. I have had to call in probably 1/4 of my total G6 sensors over ~2.5 years of use. Kevin has said that will be mostly fixed but I worry with the all-in-one design that new issues could arise. I will say that I have had some of the best track record of G6 life in the past few months. Maybe they've secretly figured out the problem within G6 and updated it.
Wow 😮 that's so many! Could it be a country-quality difference??? I've had the dexcom g6 for well over 4 years now and only have had to call in about 5 out of my total sensors (146 sensors ish??) for errors
Is there a way to get Omnipod 5 in the UK? Or but it from the internet?
I hope it works on Android Phones as well!
When will the OMnipod 5 be CE marked and available in the U.K.?
Hey Nerdabetic. Please review the Medtrum closed loop nano system. I am keen to hear your opinion.
I’m so confused.
Wait for libre to be integrated into omnipod or change to dexcom 7?
PLEASE tell me someone knows what that painting is behind Kevin!! It is awesome and I need it!
When might it be available in Australia??
Seems like you wouldn't be ale to extend g7 for additional 10 days as sensor and transmiter are not separated
Really looking forward to it, thanks for the update Kamil! Any info about its recycle ability? The G6 sensor applicator is soo big i just feel bad theowing out so much waste every 10 days and not really being able to recycle almost anything. Libre suffers of course of the same. From the pictures you shared it really looks very similar. This is also great so that we carry less volume.
I guess resetting the sensor for extended lifetime might be trickier now... I just find this "feature" useful in emergencies like if I'm short on sensors due to losing some before the 10 days.
Too many questions as of today, but overall it looks so promising!! Thanks!
I also want to know if its possible to use one applicator for all Sensors or maybe a few times??
PLEASE also tell me anything/something about the G7 receiver. I can't find any useful details. I would use that more than the phone integration.
Do you know if you can have only vibration alarms with G7? FSL3 doesn't have only vibrations, it's always with sound on Android. I'm deaf so sound doesn't get me anywhere in my sleep.
Thank you...AS soon as you hear about a release date in the U.S. get it out to your subscribers!
Has dexcom made improvements to the adhesive allergies caused in some of the g6 systems? Will it be compatible with the omnipod 5?
That is a good question..
I got a dexcom G6 and my doctor wants to put me on a pump.. omnipod pump.. I would like to know if it's compatible
when will it come out in usa?
Question: You said something about the OmniPod being able to go several hours past the 72 hour mark. So, when the pod says it has expired, is it actually still delivering basal?
Yes, I use the Omnipod, as long as the reservoir isn't empty, it can still deliver insulin for up to 8 hours after it officially expired.
Alright, G7 is awesome. It’s super small, and 30 minutes?! That’s super cool!
I have to say I’m excited about G7 release in the U.K. but I’m also excited about FL3 release in the U.K and would definitely give FL3 a go over G7.
Eversense?
I WANT ONE!
Accuracy and skin reaction are the most important factors for me for choosing the CGM. G6 caused skin irritation on my arms, hope G7 won’t.
I put Skin-Tac liquid on my bandage part (sticky part) of my cgm. That helps me not get the itchiness of the cgm. If you haven't tried that, you may want to try.
@@anitastokar98 Great! Will definitely give it a try. Thanks a lot!
My endocrinologist advised me to spray the site with generic Flonase spray, let it dry then apply sensor. I've done that but had to add an extra step of 2-3 tegaderm patches then the sensor over that....and I'm happy to say no more severe topical reactions to the adhesive. 😃
@@tennillewalls8142 Thanks a lot for sharing it! I am using hydrocolloid patches and they help me a lot. 🙂
Well. Eversense 180 day seems to be the winner
can it work with medtronic pump
Any info about G7 and open-source app? (xdrip)
Will this g7 be compatible with omnipod 5?
Also, one of your videos more than a year ago previewed FreeStyle Libre 3…mentioning it should soon be available in the USA…any followup?
Eversense
Come on FDA we need this in the States. I want to switch from Medtronic to Dexcome 7 and Tandem X2 or Tandem X3.
Yes!!!! Hoping it comes to the states soon!!!
Eversense?? Better
This would be very awesome! Especially a 27 min warm up! My wife hates having to wait! When can we just get an artificial pancreas?
I would just be happy if they would make their software compatible with my 5 month old phone: Pixel 6 Pro.
When will it be available in the United States?
Do you know in witch interval the g7 is sending data's? G6 is ever 5min, FSL every 1min and G7?
every 5 minutes. Dexcom has been asked if they would ever move to every 1 minute, but Kevin says they don't see the need or customer request enough.
@@maddiewalding6935 So what is the reason to advertise 3.5 minutes lag compared to finger prick?
That s why I will ask to go from 780g to tandem pump I want to test the dexcom cgm g7 hopefully
If only we could choose whatever sensor we want... I would maybe go with a 780g+g7 or fsl3
When will this be available? Will our 12 month G6 subscription get upgraded?
I had the same question!!!
Will it be updated to 14 day sensor wear? I thought that was in one of your other videos.
In my interview with Kevin, he mentioned that G7 is planned to be extended for longer wear- 14 days. No updates on that.
@@Nerdabetic I actually hope that won't happen. My hubby has 14 day sensors and it's always just a bit too long. He either sweats or works them off. A new one every ten days would be welcome!
How about eversense 180 change out .. 14 smh
@@ChrisdlcChrisdlc We loop, so we need G6. Hopefully they'll update to G7 since done some of the developers are also working on tidepool.
Any idea if the Omipod 5 will eventually work with the G7?
Would be nice to know ...
I would love to know also. Please and thank you.
I'd put that chance at 100%. The G6 works with Omnipod 5 now -- so the chances they pull this feature is slim to zero.
Hey
Can i use my samsung s22?
What would the price be in canada
When in Canada? Anyone know?
I know that OmniPod 5 just came out an is able to connect to the G6. Do you think that OmniPod will be able to connect to the G7 in the near future?
I’m sure Omnipod is hard at work on this as we chat 😁
Very exciting. Anxiously awaiting U.S approval.
Same here, but I think we won't see it until 2023, and likely even the UK/EU roll-out won't officially start beyond the limited roll-out until 2023. Things are just so slow right now. :( Maybe I'm wrong and we'll see a slightly quicker schedule. I know that Dexcom won't want to fully roll out until their CGMs have been approved for iCGM (closed loop) capabilities AND they have given the Pump manufacturers time to prepare their devices to work with the G7. I know the pump I use, Tandem T Slim X2, will require yet another update to support the G7, and it'll be a bit complex since they will still need to support the G6 at the same time.
I assume for Tandem, we'll see the G7 update either in 2 versions for the pump or as an entirely optional update only for those that actually are able to upgrade/get the G7. Either way, I can't wait. >
When will people be available to upgrade? In usa we're I live
Eversense is an upgrade . 180 day why not
So it starts upon insertion. Then the trick of starting 24 hours before the last sensor ends for better first day readings is not available correct?
I am very interested in this too. All I know is that it’s automatic sensor initiation. We will learn more when G7 actually ships and people get it which should be soon…..
I wonder if they might have improved accuracy somehow to mitigate that?
As I know Dexcom is VERY aware of people having to resort to that.
And to be honest.. I never had this inaccuracy problem with Libre on the first 24h… but have it VERY often with Dexcom.
But still love it!
I'm curious of this inserting the sensor 24 hours before the last sensor ends. How do you protect those tiny and presumably not robust contacts from damage, corrosion, dirt, etc.?
@@dwightl5863 do you mean the G6?
The only thing you can see above the skin exposed are 2 black rubber dots. I don’t do anything special as I wipe with an alcohol wipe before putting the transmitter on…
But you could use say like a tegaderm patch to protect it fully until you’re ready to put the transmitter in..
@@zarasbubble1748 Yes the G6. Those "2 black rubber dots" are electrical contacts that make the connection to the transmitter. Curious as to how successful you are putting the sensor in 24 hours early. Any problems with sensor failures? And if failures does Dexcom replace the "defective" sensor?
This is not available in the United States . It’s already April I guess maybe next year
The only disadvantedge will be fact you cannot extend the lifetime in case of emergency when your travelling an grow short of sensors fi. Hope the community will find a way around that but because of intergration between sensor and transmitter it will be hard i think..... Somebody has a thought about that ?
People hacked into the app for the freestyle libre to restart the same transmitter/sensor for 2 or more sessions. I would not be surprised if they started doing smth similar for the G7.
Could you buy the G7 in the UK and then bring it to the U.S. and still get the sensors?
G7 is currently only available in a limited launch. Commercial launch to be announced. Thanks for watching
Half hour warmup!!!!!!!
Yes! Super exciting
Yes ! That’s so nice ! Especially when I accidentally rip it off and I’m in a hurry.
where can I purchase this watch on screen at 3:07?
i think its an apple watch
Its an Apple Watch. Any of them work with the G6 at the moment. I bought a series 3 because they are really cheap because they'll be discontinued soon. From series 4 to 7 you should be good and most are constantly dropping in price
Eversense
Awe cute
I have 40 days of G6’s left, intrigued to see if the G7 will follow but going to assume at this point that it probably won’t 😭
I just got my 3 month supply……
@@Nerdabetic are you still looping? If so.. does it work with loop? 😃 or have I got to choose between looping and the G7? 😭
Maybe go eversense
Coming into may and still no sign 👀
These tech company’s sure know how to speed things down when it comes to peoples health? 🤔
I use FreeStyle 14-day CGM.
I liked your tip about hitting the READER button twice to save battery… but I hit it three times and it’s fully off immediately.
QUESTION: has anyone come up with any ideas on recycling any of the elements of the sensor (or internal battery) or the application device parts? I have over 60 of them I’d like to find a 2nd purpose for them, instead of occupying landfill. Anybody have ideas??
Eversense 180 day easy
My question for you and DXCM is why haven't you upgraded you software (dxc5) to work on he latest android devices (andrd 12 0 samzung z 4 fold) There seems to be no point in upgrading the sensors if they can't communicate with the LASTEST PHONES🤨🤨
Eversense E3 is out for sales aswell. can you do a video on that? would be awesome.
Eversense 180 day
Is inserting the G7 painful
4:48 wait.libre can connect to omnipod?????
Esit: just saw the footnote.
And yet here in the US we can't even get Dexcom to even acknowledge the G7 at all. Must be that first class health care system we have here. (Note the dripping sarcasm.)
Can only advise everyone - to stay with the G6. Mature, stable and safe!!! And the advantages G6 vs. G7 are manageable.
The MEGA feature what should come - G7 directly on the Apple Watch without cell phone --> FOR ME ONLY A PR JOKE !!!!
hello, good sir, what should we do, we have no money to buy a G7, we barely earn enough money to provide insulin for my 11 year old son, for the G7, it's just a matter of looking and greedy, it will be a great joy for my child to get G7 😩
where it lanuch?
I just started to use G6😢
Just started eversense 180 day but have fun changing yours out
I really hoped they would also make a recyclable applicator, since the G6 is giant and almost impossible to recycle.
Saying that "Dexcom G7 day is here" and that it's "the newest CGM on the market" is deceiving, as getting its CE mark a few weeks ago, doesn't mean it's available, yet, which Dexcom clearly states on their G7 UK landing page.
when will it be available in the UK?
@@JamieReynolds89according to Dexcom, sometime in the next few weeks/months. No actual date has been announced yet, just that it will be launched in Europe, first.
some people want the sensor to work 14 days but i think 10 is better. I already am always checking if my sensor is not coming of, especially the last few days. The same sensor 4 days longer without problems on my skin is not realistic i think. Thus it will create shortage in the end. So less is more in this case i think....
USA still waiting 🙁🙁🙁
surely USA get it first as its made there?
@@JamieReynolds89 nah we didn’t get it first, FDA is a lot stricter with approving things than the rest of the world, there’s article’s issues as late as 2/2022 that it has yet to be released in the US, if it is released, I missed the release date, but I’ll find out tomorrow when I contact my Dr for a refill
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Eversense 180 day .. but you keep waiting
Galaxy watch. I don't throw money away on inappropriate [priced Apple Poimts
Incredibly disappointing that there is still no direct to watch. Unacceptable to announce it 5 years ago and promise it over and over again. Apart from the warm up time I am underwhelmed. I wonder if the new Libre will win this war.
Release Date?????????????????? :-( Any News! Rumors! Likely Date? Come On Man!
Hahaha still nothing. It’s currently in limited controlled release in the UK.
@@Nerdabetic so kind of you to reply. Any guesses?
@@Nerdabetic I'm assuming 2023 rolling release given the slow rollout period. I'm hoping by mid 2023, the US can start rolling out. The G6 rolled out in July 2018 if I recall, possibly June? This time around it's quite a bit different since it seems UK and EU may get it first before the US even though Dexcom is based in the US. As a US customer, I hope they can get past the FDA hurdles and release it around the same time as UK/EU. Eagerly awaiting the G7...!
Eversense .. think about it .. so
Much better knowing on and off as you please
It's hard to get excited about the G7 with no direct to iWatch and still only a 10 day sensor?! And after years of waiting for the G7 the major improvements are a 30 minute warm-up and a integrated transmitter/sensor design that assures no possibility of restarts. Sorry Dexcom but after 8 years using a Dexcom CGM I am waiting for the new iWatch or Pixel watch with integrated non-invasive CGM capability. Now that's what I call the next step in the CGM revolution, not just doing some minor software and packaging changes! The CGM field is get much more competitive and innovative and Dexcom seems to be falling behind IMO.
