"Star Trek: The Next Generation" Las Vegas Panel with Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis. This took place at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on August 3, 2018. They take questions from the audience and announce Mr. Frakes will be directing Ms. Sirtis in an upcoming episode of the "The Orville." They keep the banter very entertaining! If it wasnt for the fact that Jonathan has been married for 30 years and Marina 26 you'd think they were married off screen. The banter and closeness is great to see & I dont think they're just doing it for the cameras. I also just realised that this was filmed this year so for a woman in her 60's Marina looks great.

Jonathan is looking better than in the last few years I've seen him. That is great. Marina has been gorgeous all these years. And their chemistry is unmatched.

You are being dramatic.There are plenty of costars that have total chemistry. They worked together closely for 7 yrs, several movies and hav been friends for decades.You are very silly.

@@FrauIndian for star trek fans riker and troi are special..their characters were kept apart and teased us for a long time and then we finally got their wedding...they may not be the best couple in t.v history but they are the best for trek fans..
Sirtis is so full of herself it is distasteful. Time has not treated her well. She was at fair looking at best during the series and downright unattractive now, especially when she opens her mouth and speaks.
These 2 are the best! Always been a fan of their characters Troi/Riker. Their chemistry is so apparent on and off screen.
These two have the best chemistry. Even though they tell the same stories over and over, it's always entertaining to hear. I would've liked a bit more question time though.
I met Marina at the Dallas 2016 convention, Johnathan was as there as well but I was kind of intimidated by him. He was kind and everything but something about him just intimidated me. Marina and I spend about 10 minutes talking politics, it was an experience I will always cherish and she gave a bear hug leaning over her table.

Marina and Gates do not like each other at all. lol. I've seen it many times at STLV.
Actually it’s pretty well known that the cast of “Next Generation” got along quite well compared to “Voyager” and “Deep Space”.
@@kennethbaker5223 As Kay noted above, I think you're misperceiving their "working the crowd" for anything of resembling real tension. All of the members of NG have said, at different cons/public events, that they all truly do get along and have remained friends all these years. (Now, could it be for example that Marina is closer to Jonathan and Michael than she is to Gates? Absolutely, especially as she's said over the years that of the cast Michael is her best friend and she is great friends with Jonathan and his wife Genie. But I've never read/seen anything that was in any way serious about her and Gates have any issues.)
@@tideoftime We can agree to disagree. Naturally, they are going to tell us all that they love each other. I have attended numerous panels that they have both participated in, and it was obvious to the most casual observer that they don't care for each other. I know that most St fans want to believe that all of their favorite actors see each other often, and meet regularly for picnics, so I expect these type of adoring comments.

Marina is so utterly different than the character she played on TNG. Now she is saucy and hip and outgoing. As troi she was intuitive and insightful and measured. Love both versions!

that moderator matt really broke marina and its rare to see her laugh when its usually frakes or dorn who does it. that trio is hysterical. they looked happy
The moderator was close to perfect - he asked questions when needed, and he kept his mouth shut when Frakes or Sirtis went off on a tangent. Too many moderators try to insert themselves into the spotlight by jumping into the conversation, while usually nobody cares about what they have to say. That's why Marina at 20:25 talks about her always trying to ditch useless moderators.
TNG is basically everyone's dream come true. The actors told time and again that this show was the best they ever had in their career. Not only because it payed the bills, but because it was actually a work enviroment of one of a kind where everybody god along and actually became friends off-camera. Something that can happen, but not across the board like on this show.
And then fans also loved it. Wi -win of the century for everybody.
I can't imagine tng without troi. I know a lot of fans don't like trio because the writing was so weak for her but I loved Deanna.
I had no positive role models in my life as a kid and I was poverty level and had found out as an adult that I was bipolar. So as a kid I was really moody and felt emotions very strongly and no one on television was emotional.
There were Hero's and bad guys and security chiefs and aliens and then there was troi who was all about feelings and mental health and she felt so much that was around her and I identified with that and felt a kinship with the character.
I was so glad when the show gave Deanna stuff to do, the price, the child, face of the enemy, thine own self, haven, dark page, eye of the beholder, we're all some of my favorite episodes because it focused on character development of troi.
There was just something about Marina that sold the character and maybe it was her beauty and ability to really act when they gave her the chance to.
You will never read this but thank you Marina for being a strong role model for women and showing little girls that you can have emotions and be sensitive and feminine and still be a respectable smart career oriented woman.
You were my hero on star trek and it instilled in me a drive to be myself and not hide my feelings.

I have to say, Jonathan hasn't looked this much like Riker for years, whatever changed he made it worked and he looks super healthy. (Although I will mention that he has always looked very happy in general even when he wasn't in great shape and that is more important than anything unless you are talking about playing a Starfleet officer.)
Jonathan IS a force of nature!!!! Unpredictable? Yes! Spontaneity in creating a scene? Yes!
and Marina is beautiful as ever!!!

I saw a recent trailer for picard and deanna and will are in it...an awesome scene where they have either kids or grandkids.

indeed i recall the bashing that TNG got for not being the orig series when it 1st came out. marina is always awesome recounting stories. hers have a touch more colour than others ;)
Saw Marina at a convention in the 90s. She was witty, saucy and fantastic. She had on a short skirt and boots. The stage was high so she joked that we could probably see her knickers.
She's a better actor than I gave her credit for because she's NOTHING like Troi. She's virtually the complete fucking opposite.
I really hope all the original TNG cast members get to be guest stars on the new Picard Star Trek series. I can't wait. :)

Mirina is always so great to watch. I saw her at a convention when I was maybe 10-11 years old in 1993 and she was so lovely. We asked her a question and I remember her asking how old I was because she thought it was so adult. That was back in the days when you didn't have to pay to meet them. You can just go and get an autograph or photo just by being in the convention. You just had to buy the photo if you wanted to use the ones she had which were professional headshots.
I got to say these two have great chemistry. They remind me of an older married couple. It would be cool if they were both on Orville married.

I was at the 2013 Las Vegas Convention waiting in a good size line to see Andrew Robinson. Marina walks up to say, who are you waiting for? I said Andrew Robinson and would you like to join me? She said well, I would, but have to get to signing autographs. My wife and I did get her autograph with the STTNG group later that day. When we got to her, I mentioned her recent bit on NCIS where she played an Israeli official. I mentioned how she had the Golda Meir look down for the part. She laughed and agreed. Said she hoped to get some more work on that show soon. Didn't see her return though.

This is cool. I think this shows how personable these two people are - I think they are down-to-earth types, that genuinely what they do and who they are. These are ones that would be very cool to be able to call friends.

I love Deanna, but I am always amazed by Marina being to different and funny.
Frakes… always a pleasure to see and hear him leaking news or bring up funny stories and being gentle and so
… on the other hand, he can kick you out of that great mood when he's falling into the top-professional-payed-actor-role like:
- "hey, you are not allowed to video tape this" … i thought he is the guest, it's not HIS responsibility when he is on the stage, or is it?
- "Oh, i see we are done" … right in the middle of his answer … So maybe he had a contract for his appearance with a fixed time-slot? Is it so hard to take a glimse, tell the story and then end it with a "Thank you"?

Also it's Gargoyles reunion as well since the chemistry of David Xanatos and Demona was perfect. Also the likeness of William Ryker for David Xanatos was a deep cut Star Trek Connection. Star Trek really was integral to Gargoyles success.

The show cast Star Strek actors like John Frakes as David Xanatos whose likeness is based of William Ryker, Maria Sirtis as Demona, Brent Spiner as Puck, William Morgan Sheppard as Odin, Michelle Nichols as voiced Eliza Maza's mother, Kate Mulgrew as Lady Tatania, LeVar Burton voiced one of the characters that can turn into a Panther, Paul Winfield as Robinson who was in Wrath of Khan and Next Generation, Michael Dorn as Coldstone/Othello.

Finally someone who knows the cartoon. Gargoyles was very Trek Universe. It also had Avery Brooks guest star for one or 2 episodes. Also you had the IT actor Tim Curry voicing Anton Sevarius.

I do appreciate her personality more as I get older. But it does seem that every time she's on a TNG panel, it's the Marina Sirtis Career Therapy Show. Good stories though.
