I've been a Trekkie all my life, since I was born in the 1960's. I am SO glad that I got to see this. It is such a fitting addition to the Star Trek universe.
I'm 40 years old and I admit the ending had me wiping tears away. I also admit that at first I couldn't really take to phase 2, the choices of actors threw me a little. But, upon retrying several times, it finally clicked for me and I REALLY appreciate everything these actors brought to their roles. This is what classic Star Trek was truly in spirit.
As a semi- amateur fan production it is quite good, but it is just fan service and unoriginal imitation that often borders on parody. Takei isn't particularly notable (will cut him slack for what this is) and the future scenes with Capt. Sulu and his crew are very weak and unoriginal. I'm sorry, there is nothing here to inspire a new series, or that Takei could be a lead actor at this stage of his career.

It was one I was truly impressed with. There were two production groups out there making these, using the original characters, and both had occassional moments of brilliance.
Excellent stuff! As a young child (1970s), my favourite characters were Sulu and Chekov. These days I lean more towards McCoy and Spock, but there will always be a special place for Sulu and Chekov.
This was AMAZING! i was born in 1976 10 years after TOS had first aired and i was hooked as a young boy after my father introduced me to one of his old favorite shows, some years after he showed me TOS i caught him watching the new TNG show which was only a few months running at the time. The ending to this was magical especially when you heard the voice of demora sulu the same very actress that played her initially. THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I only wished we got the sulu series or series based around the enterprise B and the enterprise C.
There are a few Forbidden Planet references in this. I'm impressed given that the movie was also based on The Tempest and was the inspiration Gene had for Star Trek.
There a commentary Mr Sci Fi & his Late friend made-pretty sure he said Forbidden Planet /Tempest in there. Other fun things like Bones Really is a Doctor & the actress who played Alana had a Fever while doing this( and you never could tell! The passion for his characters shines in his Commentary.
So it wasn't just me. When I saw that the shuttle-craft's name was "Bellerophon" I thought, "Wasn't the Bellerophon destroyed trying to lift off from Altair-4?".
Wow, Just finished watching this. The only other time I saw this was at the world premiere in LA (actually sitting next to George Takei, which was a bit of an out of body experience in and of itself) and I thought maybe a good part of the love and wonder I felt about this episode was due to my circumstances (of being at that premiere). Now seeing it over 15 years later, I can tell you that this is, for me, one of the best episodes of Star Trek. Amazing... Absolutely amazing! This is what the best of Star Trek is about - thought-provoking, emotional, great writing, etc.
Well done by everyone who partook in this project and thank you for taking us back in time, somewhat, and reliving our memories of the original series 🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 #LLAP 🖖
Immense grtatitude to George Takei and the cast for simultaneously bringing cherished past memories of classic Star Trek...and yet, making the experience of being there, on the deck of the Enterprise, anew!

Wow. Should have been a mini-movie. I'm in tears. Well done. Great story. The characters were basically always in line with TOS. The only thing I would change angry Mr. Cawley looks when he's attempting to look serious. It would be nice to see this episode shared with the masses via other media as well. Thank you for the fine work you all did. Later comment: Wow! Nice twist! I should have seen that coming. Again, well done. Very Star Trek (The Original Series).

Excellent work. Riveting episode, good writing and acting. Consistent with canon. The actress playing Allanna stood out with a stellar performance. What happened to her character was poignant, reminding me of how I felt at the end of The Wrath of Khan.
Beautifully written. Beautifully acted. I believed all the characters even though they weren't "my" actors. Kudos to Mr. Sulu. Thank you for sharing this with us!
George Takei and Grace Lee Whitney played these characters to perfection on this. Despite the rank differences, Sulu and Rand had served together so many years they were almost family themselves.
How extraordinary to see an EXTENSION of TOS with actors from the series and movies! THANKYOU. Long live the Gene Rodenberry Star Trek that was created long ago. I stop here to not offend.
Interesting that the shuttlecraft sound effects were the same as the Jupiter 2. This was a very touching episode, with as much emotion as the ending of ST2: Wrath of Khan.

Excellent stuff! As a young child (1970s), my favourite characters were Sulu and Chekov. These days I lean more towards McCoy and Spock, but there will always be a special place for Sulu and Chekov.
Thank you so very much GREAT work LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it.
This was FANTASTIC, i got emotional during this, well done and please more, LOVED THE SHOW 🙂
🎶 "Suuuuuuluuuuuuu he's star of the show, other guys, just along for the ride." 🎶
Oh the Mr sulu show❤
This was AMAZING! i was born in 1976 10 years after TOS had first aired and i was hooked as a young boy after my father introduced me to one of his old favorite shows, some years after he showed me TOS i caught him watching the new TNG show which was only a few months running at the time. The ending to this was magical especially when you heard the voice of demora sulu the same very actress that played her initially. THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I only wished we got the sulu series or series based around the enterprise B and the enterprise C.
Now that's how it's done! Great Sci-fi :)
OMG I 😢 at the end! This was Amazing, thank you so much to all involved in producing this.
Wow! Captivated and engaged from start to finish. To simply say "well done" is an understatement. Thank you!
I had all but forgotten how incredible the original series was. Great job and wonderful script!
I'm not crying. I'm bawling. Sheeeeesh
So fun.
Now, that was a gem. Thanks for sharing. Very enjoyable ❤
Wow, what an awesome episode. Thank you.
Well done by everyone who partook in this project and thank you for taking us back in time, somewhat, and reliving our memories of the original series 🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
#LLAP 🖖
Immense grtatitude to George Takei and the cast for simultaneously bringing cherished past memories of classic Star Trek...and yet, making the experience of being there, on the deck of the Enterprise, anew!
I had heard of this. Nice to finally see it. As an old Trekkie it's nice to see Sulu get his props.
Hey my friend. That was a great story! Thank you.
Wow, really interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Well done and thank you for sharing this gem!
Thank you on behalf of the TriFi screening (Tri-Cities, Washington State) of your original films years ago. Hooked me. Am now a Kickstarter supporter.
It goes to show you Sulu deserved way more screen time💯👍
Wow. Nothing more that I can think of to say.
That ending was just beautifully done.
That was a Fantastic Movie/ Pilot Episode !!! Sorry the Show didn’t get picked up by the Network. They missed out on a Great Show . It held me to the end of the credits !
One of the best OG star trek episodes I've ever seen ❤❤❤
Once upon a time, being the IP holder gave absolute power over a franchise. That day is done. If the IP holder insists on not bringing out new content or bringing out garbage content, we can now make our own. I invite all my fellow Trekkers to enjoy another unauthorized novel completely free. Just google Star Trek Lost Destiny Race.
Excellent work. Riveting episode, good writing and acting. Consistent with canon. The actress playing Allanna stood out with a stellar performance. What happened to her character was poignant, reminding me of how I felt at the end of The Wrath of Khan.
This was awesome , and makes me wish for a Sulu series set aboard Excelsior!
Beautifully written. Beautifully acted. I believed all the characters even though they weren't "my" actors. Kudos to Mr. Sulu. Thank you for sharing this with us!
I remember seeing this episode for the first time years ago. Watching brought tears to my eyes each time.
George Takei was superb. And Alana was very enjoyable.
This was fantastic. Such a great story in true Start Trek fashion. Well done to the cast and crew. And so good to see George Takei in action again.
George Takei and Grace Lee Whitney played these characters to perfection on this. Despite the rank differences, Sulu and Rand had served together so many years they were almost family themselves.
Yes,I agree, here!A fitting addition ➕ to the original show! And,it feel’s like the original series that we know and love 💗!😊
That was unbelievably AMAZING!
Pleasantly surprised....the "Edith" reference to Kirk brought a tear to my eye,his true love forever.
I for sure would have watched this! Looks totally fun.
This is the second fan made movie I've stumbled across on the tube. I'm 75 and saw the original ST. I must say that this one was quite impressive. The ending is a tear jerker. The actors did their jobs. This was a great storyline. I had the feeling of the original cast. I hope the actors went on to more success. I will pass the link to my other ST friends. I'm wowed.
Thanks for letting us have this TREK 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌜😥👍👍👍
Incredible story and filming ! My compliments to the entire studio team. It's so good to see Sulu again.
I watch this over and over, it’s a great episode, Star Trek at its greatest
In all the years that I,ve watched Star Trek from the very begining in 1968, this is the true foundation of Star Trek. an excellent video. Paramount, eat your heart out.
Omg 😢that was so epic . The writhing and the passion and story was top notch . That was quality work . Kudos to all the actors
