I just came here to see the photo quality since I’m getting mine the 30th so hyped … I have to say your photos are absolutely breathtaking I love how you makes use of the coulors and lights and shadows Truly inspiring . You know a person is talented when you feel the urge to subscribe after one video only 😂
I'm mostly a video shooter so this really appeals to me, but I want a camera that I can travel with to get both video (b-roll) and photos (mostly of buildings and historic sights). Think this'll do the trick?
I really liked the photos I got out of the fx30. I’m not a burst shooter so I don’t mind that. I also have 2 A7IV bodies for photography. I also bought continuous lights so even studio shots without flash trigger is ok
I went and bought the video camera that can shoot photos, which the FX30 is, and I was prepared for all the compromises, but... what the photo shooters will probably miss the most is the ability to shoot with flash. Since the camera doesn't have the mechanical shutter, flash cannot be used, and no firmware is going to fix it. Other than that, it is a great camera... I even shot a rugby match with it, and the only thing I was missing was the eye viewfinder, since the sun was overwhelming and the lcd screen couldn't cope with it.
@@MoodyDarkRoom It's totally worth the swap, the colors and aesthetic and rendition of colors are absolutely beautiful! I totally get the eco-system dive but easy come easy go when it does come to Sony lenses there's always a market place for them! I had trouble selling my A7IV because people realized it wasn't ALL that.
@@pauls1ngh There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s a totally capable camera. It’s just not too hybrid focused and just filled the gap and on every other camera brand releasing 10bit and 4k60 into their cameras. I do believe Sony rushed their A7IV and they could’ve made it way better. The XH2s just fits my needs better as a hybrid shooter and the AF has been fantastic so far not a single problem. Sonys lens system is great but I prefer Fujis on price to performance. Sure you can say don’t be broke to go to Sony but man full frame lenses cost way too much for what they provide. My $750 33 1.4 punches way better than the 35 1.8 from Sony for the exact same price.
I use the Fx30 for bracketed real-estate photos! its very capable, ive never experienced issues with it being an electronic shutter.Fx30 is very good hybrid video camera for me!
I just picked it up a bit ago, and was loving it for the videos so far. But when I got back to check my photos during my first outing, as well as during the first wedding we shot using it, literally every single picture was far underexposed (if I wasn't outside in the sunlight). The camera previews, and even in the previews on Lightroom, all looked fine, and de-saturated like I wanted. But once I'm actually working on picture edits, they're basically black. Seemed like trying to "fix" them up blows them out completely, and most pictures were full of noise and bad colors after. I never got familiar with picture profiles, but was enjoying them on my A7II, for what it was worth. But people said that picture profiles on the FX30 can mess with the final outcome of pictures? (Not videos, since those have always looked fine and balanced in my videos)
The base ISOs for the FX30 are 100 and 320 in standard (no picture profile). Zebras don’t lie if you’re wanting to nail your exposure, at least it’s worked great for me.
Bro bend at the knees not the lower back; old you will thank me later! But seriously your photography is awesome and I'm watching all the fx30 content!
@@MoodyDarkRoom good posture may improve photo/video framing and stability now that I'm thinking about it! One knee is probably the most stable. Good squat form seems ideal to reframe quickly but retain enough stability imo.
There is no setting for flash photography in the menu of the FX30 and nothing I could find in the online manual about flash photography. The FX30 is a video camera with some photo features. I recommend you look at a photo camera with video instead, if you want hybrid camera that is photo focused.
If you can afford it definitely do it! If you’re more video oriented. This camera lacks burst mode and the ability to sync with flashes so if you don’t use those go for it!
The flickering is only an issue when very specific lights clash with very specific shutter speeds. I’ve been shooting quite a bit indoors, and no issues yet. Adjusting my shutter will be easy enough a solution I imagine.
@@chosenideahandle I'm going to purchase fx30 for the studio, I'm not using any flash here, I'm using continuous light for modeling shoots and other portraits, is it good?.
Great review right there. I have an opportunity to buy only one camera under usd 2k yet I want the best of both worlds. I think FX30 will do a good job.
Honestly I agree. I have the original S5 from a collaboration I did with them and after using it I actually really like it. Only downside is the mount is more limited for lens selection than e mount. The s5II/x fixed the autofocus issues that plagued the s5. Other than the limited lens selection tho the s5II is probably the best bang for buck camera you can get under $2-$2.5k. If you aren’t bought into the emount system yet then the S5II is a no brainer
it has a hot shoe so I'm sure any strobe attachment should work! I don't use strobes so I'm not 100% sure but with a hot shoe I don't see why it wouldn't work with hot shoe triggers.
@@MoodyDarkRoom if you could do a test with it I'll be very grateful Not just me but I don't happen to see any content on the Internet that talks about that Thank you
As a hybrid shooter who loves the form factor of the FX30 this was just the vid i was after! Looking forward to future FX30 vids

I would like to know if there is a way to use some kind of flash, separately in the softbox, etc.
to get the quality that flash helps deliver.

What are your thought on stabilization compared with A6400? Great video btw!
considering the a6400 doesn't have any stabilization its a big upgrade in that sense haha
I've used both, there's no comparison. FX30 stabilization is great! With IBIS on, Active Steadyshot on, and an OSS lense it's unreal!

Sony should release the FX30 brother for photo soon using that new sensor
