      How does it compare with features and usability of Waveform Free?

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  3 роки тому +5

      @@igorrogi4368 The core features are very similar in both. The workflow is different. I find that Waveform's workflow to be faster and easier to navigate. The included FX in Cakewalk are different, it's hard to say if they are better. It kind of depends on what you're after. If you want a great guitar amp sim, Cakewalk has that. The Breverb plugin built into Cakewalk is also an incredible reverb plugin. The cakewalk instruments are alright but if you want a synth and 808 style drum machine then Waveform has that. They are both great programs. I find myself going back and forth between them all the time. It all comes down to what you are more comfortable with using. both options are great. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍

    • @russellsimienii9343

      @@Prod.KingLilGabeMusicYes. You can interchange projects between Bandlab, GarageBand, and Cakewalk. Just go to your share and save options and work it from there and I even have other apps that I use to interchange between those top three dogs. Just save all your progress as u go and then share between the apps with your share options. I'm not sure if you're using an iOS or Android. I use Samsung (which is Android) mainly, however for GarageBand (or Pro Logic, which is to GarageBand what Cakewalk is to Bandlab, altho using all 4 is still the most OP way to use them all), u have to have an iOS device, and that's the only iOS device I use in my music productions. The reason I brought this up is because the save options are different with iOS vs Android or traditional PC, and really, in my opinion, the options are very limited in comparison. One of the reasons I'm not a huge fan of iOS. But anyway, that's a separate story and separate gripe. I'm really an Android head due to the versatility that it allows. But yea, bottom line: constantly save your work no matter what platform or app you're using, and then share between the apps and you can use them all to make an awesome work. Free game

    I have been using Cakewalk since it was first introduced. Paid the the software and all updates right up to Sonar Platinum. The new Cakewalk by BandLab is even better than the last version of Cakewalk Sonar. If you have subscribed over the years you will still be able to use all of the plugins and effects that cam with the original versions of Cakewalk and Cakewalk Sonar.
    This DAW is up there with the best and it is incredible that BandLab provide it for free. There are no catches. It is FREE.

Cakewalk has a lot to offer and it's hard to believe that this daw is free. The Cakewalk Handbook is also suitable for beginners. Very good video which shows some of Cakewalk. 👍👍👍

    Another Con I have found are the various bugs that seem to appear with every update: plugins don't work or settings won't save when you close your out, Plugins crashing system, My favorite was repeated crashes while attempting to unfreeze midi tracks for further editing. The developers are certainly motivated to learn about these glitches and fix them. Another con I have found, regardless of your statement about it being gentle on resources, is having to play the damned Buffer game the further into your project you get even if you only have the ProChannel on the tracks. That being said It's still powerful and incredible and it isn't as if the Big Boys have not experienced huge crashes using PT in the middle of a huge session.

      It’s still buggy... Many VSTs act strange and sometimes crash the program, however the problems you describe are likely due to your PC processing power. I scored a 1/2 hour film w/Cakewalk a few months ago. A 1/2 hour video, 55 tracks and no buffering issues. Of course if the effects are left on in real time latency is an issue as it is with any daw.

    Btw th3 amp sim is really awesome, BUT it's limited in terms of free trial. You can only use it for a I think certain amount of days, and then it limits the majority of the rest of the amps and pedals for like 30 days or maybe more unless you pay for it. At least that's what happened to me. I lost all my amps and effects on a couple guitar tracks because I didn't pay attention to that detail and didn't want to pay for it yet.

      @@givejah610 what might be happening is you’re trying to access banks that are available in the demo version which the Cakewalk version allows you to do and can be confusing. If you go into TH3 and in the “Banks” area you’ll see something that says “see all” you want to make sure that is unchecked. If it is checked then you will see stuff that isn’t accessible in the Cakewalk version and it will be in demo mode. In the Cakewalk TH3 you have access to 5 banks if you check that see all feature you’ll see 34 banks but most of them are greyed out. And that’s the same thing with the other side of the interface in the “items” section you’ll see that “see all” button again and if it’s checked then you will see gear that you have to purchase additionally or use in demo mode. But you still get a ton of amps and gear in the cakewalk version that covers a wide variety of genres.

    Jus started using it and it's the most frustrating program I've ever used. I'm used to simple (audacity user for the last 7 yrs) and when I say nothing is simple about cakewalk I literally mean it. Been lookin thru 20+ videos for why my output skips when I play thru a speaker or even thru my laptop. Permission on a midi controller or midi mic are incredibly annoying. The only ONLY REASON people should use cakewalk is because it's free and a great prototype program before you use a real one like logic or pro tools but honest opinion on it 3/10 way to much work just to record

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  Рік тому

      For a lot of people this program works extremely well. It’s a very powerful DAW free or not but I can appreciate that not every program is going to jive with every person and that’s why there are so many music production programs out there.
      If you find Pro Tools to be easy then use their free version, Pro Tools Intro. It works great!

    • @oprahthegodson2948
      @oprahthegodson2948 Рік тому

      Too each its own but for me I've been practicing and struggling with this since the beginning of December, I jus found tutorials to show me how to record properly but now I'm lookin for reasons as to why my output skips but listening wit headphones plays jus fine and I lost patience. So what might be great to some are a detriment to others (me lol). So I stand on my opinion its a great prototype you want to get into serious programs but for beginners or those looking for simplicity this ain't it

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  Рік тому

      @oprahthegodson2948 you can give Tracktion Waveform Free a try. It’s an unlimited DAW and pretty easy to navigate.
      Or, like I said earlier, give the free Pro Tools Intro a try if that’s what you consider to be a serious program.
      No need to keep fighting with this one.

    Cakewalk by Bandlab is crash heaven. I installed it today and within the first hour it crashed 10 times! Sonar 8.5.3 professional doesn't crash at all. WTF happened? Also, Cakewalk by Bandlab is very sluggish. Don't waste your time on this as it will give you many headaches. I don't have the time, money, or patience to use such a very buggy program! Hell, I opened a recent project that I was working on in Sonar 8.5.3 into Cakewalk by Bandlab. I unfroze a track, selected that track, and proceeded to play using my midi keyboard. After 5 keystrokes, CRASH! WTF? Yeah...if Cakewalk by Bandlab can't even use third party plugins without crashing, what's the use???

    • @_amrbadr_
      @_amrbadr_ 2 роки тому

      i have thousands of VSTs and only faced a sudden crash once because i had alot of other apps open in the background, definitely a problem with your system, or your system is weak

    • @GTSongwriter
      @GTSongwriter 2 роки тому

      @@_amrbadr_ I found out which plug-in was crashing Cakewalk by Bandlab. It's the Rapture plug-in from my Sonar Producer 8.5.3 version. Rapture was included with Sonar Producer. It doesn't crash Sonar Producer, but definitely crashes Cakewalk by Bandlab. I've got a high end gaming laptop ASUS ROG G752V, Intel i7-6700HQ, 12 GB RAM, 2 TB M.2 SSD, laptop that I paid $4000 in 2015. Today you can buy that version for $1500, so it's still a great gaming laptop. I play Several high end games on this laptop! So, it's still a very powerful laptop. I can always upgrade the RAM up to 256 GB if needed!

    • @_amrbadr_
      @_amrbadr_ 2 роки тому

      so you're using a plugin made by sonar that doesn't work properly on cakewalk, makes sense for it to crash honestly.
