    My first lens for the Sony A7III was the GM 24-70mm f/2.8. Then I bought the GM 16-35mm f/2.8. Later, I wanted more light/bokeh for certain situations, so I got the Sony Zeiss 50mm f/1.4. *And now* I got this one. The very first thing I can say about it and the first reason I can recommend it, is *how small and light* it is compared to the expensive lenses. It invites me *much, much more* to carry my camera around for any occasion. With the other lenses, I think it twice before deciding to carry that size/weight/value around. I also don't worry as much as with the other lenses regarding possible damage in casual street/trip/family photography - and it takes great pictures in general!

I didn't feel like I was being steered towards a brand because of bias -- rather -- that this was an honest review, that seeks to help anyone who might be considering this lens. • @dubayyuae8696
    @dubayyuae8696 3 роки тому +2

    I use mostly HB, CZ, and sony G, picked up this lens as a beach and sand lens meaning easily throw away, the bokeh is actually hideous because of the blade effect on it. Which is surprising you didn't notice. The sharpness outperforms my 50mm Zeiss which is a $1,500 USD lens. Sony actually uses this lens as a Loss leader. A lens that actually has a higher value but is sold cheap to get their cameras and other lenses sold. Also surprised you didn't read about sonys sales tactics on this lens. Liked your review just thought you were missing a lot of information about the product. Also sony states it is NOT a video lens, and they recommend against using it for video. None the less, good review

    I purchased this lens 18 months ago when I was learning the Sony system on the A72. At the time I was mostly using adapted Canon mount lenses, and this was the first FE mount lens I purchased. It was a good lens, but I had fewer keepers than I did with the Tamron 45 VC (adapted with the Metabones IV). When I upgraded to the A7R3, I sold this lens along with most of my adapted lenses and went fully into Sony FE mount glass. For beginners or travel, it is a good lens. I eventually replaced it with the Sigma 50 Art. Great review btw

    • @juurstudio

      Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS lens is an APS-C lens, so you can use it on a full-frame only in the crop mode, which means that no, you're not taking the full advantage of the full-frame sensor, while the lens under review here would project the light on the whole sensor.
