I have negotiated a great deal on either 3000 CAD for the XPS with 4 year premium plus damage warranty or 3300 CAD for the top spec x1 extreme with 5 year premium warranty with accidental damage. Which do you recommend?
I will be comparing the with the XPS 15 and MacBook Pro. It depends what your after. The Extreme is very conservative on the clocks temps and performance. If that’s what you want the Extreme is a good choice. It has the 2x M.2 slots, 2x Thunderbolt 3 and the best keyboard. Which are the advantages over the XPS 15. The screen was badly calibrated in the whites and the track pad was no good to edit video. It was a bit choppy editing too.The XPS is faster tuned for higher performance, better track pad and design for mine. Also was smooth video editing plus faster exports and gaming FPS. I think for your use it will be better too. If you want to go Lenovo I would get the P1 with the Quadro
Thanks, I dont see many Lenovo reviews, the ports, dual ssds and upgradeability, screen, cpu, gpu options, on the extreme and P1 is well extreme, even if the performance may not be as good as the xps, and macbook pros.
yeah, the inclusion of an SD card reader in the extreme makes it really tempting. But now with 16:10 and 3:2 displays becoming more popular, maybe other vendors are worth taking a look at.
Thanks Tally Ho for a great video. As way of background, I would appreciate your assistance. Having worked in a management consultancy business for a number of years I am about to set up my own management consultancy business. This will include executive coaching, leadership training, organisational design and structure operating models and a bunch of other training both F2F and digital. There will also be client presentations, however most of the prep work etc will be done from home on this device. I am now looking for a new Lap top and was thinking of the XI Carbon generation 8 or 7 and the Microsoft Surface lap top 3 with the i7. Also deciding between a 13' and 15' screen. Could I kindly obtain your recommendation on a lap top that would last me say 3-5 years. Many thanks, Keith

Jin Raigami I had a 2014/15 MBP which was a fantastic machine (although expensive), before I knew about the magic of Lenovo keyboards. I lent it to a friend for a year and I found out months later that she’d lent it to her brother who had it stolen from them. GRRRR.
Yes It's Me now that I’ve had the carbon for a couple of months, I want the 2020 MBP with the latest keyboard. The carbon keyboard is delightful, but the cleanliness of the MBP is unbeatable. Also you are correct about the 2017-2018 MBP keyboard and slow typists. I’m no court stenographer but I’m pretty damn quick
You know that yellow is an original Ferrari color to make their race car look better on tv back in the black and white tv era? So even tho Ferrari usually look better in red, some purist of the brand might prefer their Ferrari yellow. 😏
Intersting interpretation. Actually, I think the yellow color was chosen by Enzo Ferrari based on the colour present in the coat of arms of the city of Modena. Scuderia Ferrari first headquarter was located there as well as Modena was the place where Enzo Ferrari was born. The red color used in racing was the Italian national color for motor sport. Anyway, great laptops, no matter the colour!
why are you advertising for those windows keys? Those are 100% fake. They might work initially but will certainly fail for you at some point, there's hundreds of sites online selling windows keys for pennies on the dollar, all are the same and need to be shut down. No way in hell you can get a windows 10 pro license for $15. Please stop promoting them
Definitely. The extreme is about 135% stronger than the P1 (CPU and GPU) If you can pay for the extreme if you're spending the same as the p1... the extreme is the better choice in performance. So it really comes down to price
Great review! Please help, I need a laptop between 12.8 and 14” with brightness more than 300. Gotta be Lenovo because *keyboards* but I’m not sure how to go about this without forking out for the 4K on the carbon gen6
I had an involuntary cringe and pain in my gut each time you pickup the laptop by the corner and the screen bent. :D (I just bought a used X1 Extreme Gen 1 but no way I am going to try that!)
I'm looking for a decent affordable laptop for video editing, any recommendations? Currently willing to spend $600aus as that's what I have right now or should I save up?
Please, please leave this cube-thing with these annoying changing pics out of the video. It's like these advertise-popups when you just want to read an article :-(
Sorry to disappoint you but the original color of Ferrari cars was yellow. Because Enzo Ferrari was from Modena and yellow is Modena's color (look at the city's emblem). But since he didn't have much money when he started making cars, he took what paint was left from Alfa Romeo (and it was red because AR painted their cars in red). :D
Great review between the two. It'll help me in deciding which one I should go for. I was hoping you would have mentioned how the speakers were like on both these units as on Lenovo's site it shows they are different on each model. Could you please comment on this?
my thinkpad yoga hinge broke, screen cracked, power button broken, 2 power adapters and constant trouble starting. dont buy into this 'tough' image they are cheap.
None of them, the quality control on them is poor. The X1 Extreme is the worst machine I have ever owned, with terrible coil whine and a defective display on both of the units Lenovo have shipped. On too of this their customer service has been terrible, taking weeks to ship replacement machines, refusing to speak to me over the phone and often going several days without a response by email. These machines are not worth the money, let alone the praise.

@@TallyHoTech I am surprised that you prefer XPS over Thinkpad, coz you call Thinkpad X1 Carbon the "Rolls Royce" in the laptop world lol
What about x1 Carbon 8th gen vs x1 yoga 5 th gen : are there any key differences in the more recent models that you mentioned on these older models
Thanks, I dont see many Lenovo reviews, the ports, dual ssds and upgradeability, screen, cpu, gpu options, on the extreme and P1 is well extreme, even if the performance may not be as good as the xps, and macbook pros.
Right on
yeah, the inclusion of an SD card reader in the extreme makes it really tempting.
Any thoughts and recommendations? Thanks.
Mate, what generation X1 carbon? Should I only get the gen 6 instead of the 5? Or does the 5 bring in good value?
6 champ 4 cores baby
Tally Ho Tech - formerly western gents united awesome, thanks for the quick response. I won’t be video editing. Mainly just emails, excel and UA-cam browsing etc
Lenovo X1 14’ yoga or xps 13’ which one is better
Exc review. Where did you get the Nintendo cube?
Honestly if I switch from Mac, this one would be my choice.
Jin Raigami I’m switching from my beloved MBP to either carbon or yoga because the new MAcBook keyboards are AWFUL to type on
@@dedclownsRfunny heard that the 2019 is a lot better. You are unlucky if you own 2016-2018 version.
Jin Raigami I had a 2014/15 MBP which was a fantastic machine (although expensive), before I knew about the magic of Lenovo keyboards. I lent it to a friend for a year and I found out months later that she’d lent it to her brother who had it stolen from them. GRRRR.
@@dedclownsRfunny anybody who says the new MacBook keyboard is awesome is full of shit and doesn't type very fast
Excellent video, thank you.
What do you think about the x1 tablet?
I liked the Mix and anything with the name think pad is quality;)
3 min in still have no idea which one is which.... Label the one you are showing with model number would be very helpful :D
I would buy the Extreme for occasional gaming but I heard they fucked with CPU so now the frame rate is bad even though it has a capable GPU
Yer, review coming soon but there are better performers in the 15” premium laptop class
May i see where you saw this information? I was about to get the extreme too.

The same channel actually
@@TallyHoTech i know but i wanted Lenovo because they usually make extremely well built laptops, great customer service and military discount
"great customer service" must be a regional thing. UK sales support is absolute garbage.
Nobody has EVER offered a discount for Win10Pro.... I just might have to take up on your discount, m8!
Woooo
Nobody needed it. You could've always buy Windows 10, and now 11, very cheap online.
Its my dream if gaming lenovo legion approach on the think pad series, with Thinkpad design with high refresh rate and RTX series graphics.
Noice
Saaame...
I mean, the specs sounds great but you had me at "the duck's nuts"
You know that yellow is an original Ferrari color to make their race car look better on tv back in the black and white tv era? So even tho Ferrari usually look better in red, some purist of the brand might prefer their Ferrari yellow. 😏
Ah yes indeed. I should of said white like Miami Vice but I liked that Ferrari
Definitely prefer in black
why are you advertising for those windows keys? Those are 100% fake. They might work initially but will certainly fail for you at some point, there's hundreds of sites online selling windows keys for pennies on the dollar, all are the same and need to be shut down. No way in hell you can get a windows 10 pro license for $15. Please stop promoting them
They are 100% legit They won’t work otherwise. This is not a crack ua-cam.com/video/l9hYbumCFdg/v-deo.html
Bought 10 keys over last 2 years never had one fail
Fear of getting a crappy panel is what is keeping me from buying one.
Both of these sound pretty premium for sure
Sure are
Take a shot every time he says “Rolls Royce”.
Won’t even give me a head spin
Thinkpad should bring vantablack color for 2021.
how come windows pro is that cheap? any catch? retail is 339 AUD...
Never had a issue, no catch
Where did you find that Nintendo cube?
What the heck happened to X1 Extreme?
What do you mean
he probably meant that you did not talk about the x1 extreme in detail
Yoga is very nice, but only if you've never used the T/Carbon keyboard. You can't compare imo
The Extreme is similar as a P1. The P1 actually has a great deal right now. April 2019
Yer, the deals are good
Definitely. The extreme is about 135% stronger than the P1 (CPU and GPU)
If you can pay for the extreme if you're spending the same as the p1... the extreme is the better choice in performance. So it really comes down to price
I'd change one thing,it's the Bugatti of laptops!
Woof
Great review! Please help, I need a laptop between 12.8 and 14” with brightness more than 300. Gotta be Lenovo because *keyboards* but I’m not sure how to go about this without forking out for the 4K on the carbon gen6
Nice
Tally Ho Tech which Lenovo in that screen bracket has the brightest screen?
thanks!
I would buy a yellow ferrari but only a black thinkpad
Really helpful Tally Ho Tech, thank you!
Cheers mate
What about sim and sd card? Are they combined?
I had an involuntary cringe and pain in my gut each time you pickup the laptop by the corner and the screen bent. :D (I just bought a used X1 Extreme Gen 1 but no way I am going to try that!)
What is your opinión about the yoga l380?
I like Yoga's
Pity about the bezel size. Looks dated.
Ferraris are red, thinkpads are black! better comment!
X1 yoga or yoga c930?
Razan Khalafalla I’m curious too
X1 obviously
Man you have a deep hatred against a yellow Ferrari lol
Wee it’s the original colour to o
I'm looking for a decent affordable laptop for video editing, any recommendations?
Currently willing to spend $600aus as that's what I have right now or should I save up?
Save up mate I ain't gonna bullshit ya. Metabox do the best value for money fyi
The X1 carbon 6th gen also have a 65w charger.
Yep
Yes, I bought a 45w because I bought this laptop for travel and lighter the better
Thank you!

is this Gen 1 ?
The extreme? Yes
Hi Tally, can the x1 extreme be open with one hand?
Is it good also for gaming like dota2 and cs go?
Soul Freaks the extreme yes
With the new generation they downgraded both to 51Wh battery. Nice job Lenovo!
That sux!
Please, please leave this cube-thing with these annoying changing pics out of the video. It's like these advertise-popups when you just want to read an article :-(
Weeeeeeee
Sorry to disappoint you but the original color of Ferrari cars was yellow. Because Enzo Ferrari was from Modena and yellow is Modena's color (look at the city's emblem). But since he didn't have much money when he started making cars, he took what paint was left from Alfa Romeo (and it was red because AR painted their cars in red). :D
Yes I know and I’m not disappointed. I’m just saying if you buy a Ferrari in any colour than Scarlet Red it look wrong
Can you review some RTX 2060 laptop ? 😀
I sure will ;)
@Nobody's Fault But Mine no man can't afford a laptop over 2k USD
I owned a yellow Ferrari ffs.

the day of my birthday.
Nobody has to say "the day of my birthday". It's in the word "birthday" to start with right..?
Recognise.
Great review between the two. It'll help me in deciding which one I should go for.
I was hoping you would have mentioned how the speakers were like on both these units as on Lenovo's site it shows they are different on each model. Could you please comment on this?
The speakers are similar but the difference is the orientation of the 2 in 1 will effect the sound
Wooo
Yes
The ducks nuts 🦆
Woooo
my thinkpad yoga hinge broke, screen cracked, power button broken, 2 power adapters and constant trouble starting. dont buy into this 'tough' image they are cheap.
Screen cracked, I've never in 15 years of IT seen a screen crack from everyday normal use, did it combust or how did it crack due to IBM?
None of them, the quality control on them is poor. The X1 Extreme is the worst machine I have ever owned, with terrible coil whine and a defective display on both of the units Lenovo have shipped. On too of this their customer service has been terrible, taking weeks to ship replacement machines, refusing to speak to me over the phone and often going several days without a response by email.
These machines are not worth the money, let alone the praise.
Ah man, that sux. there customer service and support does suck in my experience too
