👏👏👏👏😁 Thank you, Zlata!! You once again just planted in us a seed - And when that seed developes into a flower or plant it will have many different things of beauty - the colour, the smell, the shape - an unique creation! 🌺🍄🌹🍁💐🎋🌿🍀🌴 And so is it also with violin playing - When we apply everything we learn: The perfect bow hold, left hand not squeezing, just enough weight on the strings to give a beautiful tone - Whalla! 🎼🎵🎶🎻🎻🎻🎻 My journey to be able to play the violin beautifully, is an ongoing process and because of people like you, we keep on dreaming as we practise. Vele dank! 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇨🇦🇨🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Congratulations for the topic covered which no one talks about. In fact, the problem arises when I concentrate on the piece to be studied and when I apply the vibrato it either hurts or stops. For me it should always be applied even in small doses until the automatism is created (in the violin it is almost all automatism) where in the end without thinking too much the beautiful vibrato comes out of itself
@@violinlounge ok I've been revisiting this and I can ONLY play vibrato fast. Does this mean I may not even be playing vibrato? I actually CANNOT rock my fingers slowly like you do in this video. Just keep at it? Bye bye (sorry long one) 😆
@@violinlounge but I will say I worked on bow hold yesterday til I was crazy ( windshield wipers & all) . And the second I pick up my bow I see I am much improved. Like perfect haha.
@@deadmanswife3625 awesome about the bow! Have you extensively practiced vibrato with a metronome in as much different tempi and rhythms as possible? And did this daily for at least some weeks?
Thank you so much Zlata for this great video. I'm having troubles applying vibrato in pieces and by playing double stops my vibrato is stiff, too fast and narrow, almost inaudible.
Thanks for your idea. A separate video on vibrato in double stops might be a good idea! Vibrato in double stops is very tricky indeed, Sara, have you already watched my tutorials on Bach sonatas and partitas inside BLP? I cover a bit on vibrato in double stops: academy.violinlounge.com/bow-like-a-pro-main-page/express-yourself-in-phrases/zlata-and-vivien-review-each-other/ Also there's a video on vibrato in double stops inside Free your Vibrato academy.violinlounge.com/free-your-vibrato/module-4-apply-in-music/ (you have access to both, but perhaps you should log in first and click the links once you're logged in)
@@violinlounge Thanks so much! I haven't watched the video tutorials on Bach sonatas and partitas inside BLP and I will definitely do! Maybe I will send a video for feedback as well, possibly. Thank you so much Zlata!❤
Hey Zlata, how did you know I loose my vibrato when I play a new piece? Now I understand it has to do with the divided focus, first I have to know the piece well before I jump in the vibrato. The etüdes are very useful and Wohlfahrt has written beautiful pieces to practice! And you also know I skipped the first Kreutzer Etüde... 😂 Thanks for this video, very clear and encouraging to be patient 😍
Hi Zlata. I’m new to the violin (about two months of having one and 3 weeks of practicing about 20-30 minutes here and there) adult learner self teaching from your videos and some others. I’m playing by ear..can’t read sheet music..picked one song to learn (cover of creep that Alison sparrow made) and I can play most of it. I’m at the end now. I saw a reaction video two set did to some videos of people progression videos..and they mentioned some things that has me thinking maybe I am advancing pretty fast. I was able to play the first part of the song within the first day. She shows her hands well so in addition to me hearing the notes I learned how to move my hands around. I don’t have any stickers on the fingerboard..I can just hear scales and play them...for example I heard that pachobel in d major song and I repeated the first part in 2 minutes tops. Is this normal? Should I be happy and give myself a pat on the back or can any beginner play pieces like this? Should I keep learning this way or should I back up and try to learn reading sheet music and start with simple songs? I’m not sure what to do..I have an antique violin I won a bid on off eBay. It has one fine tuner. I watch violin repair videos a lot and have become obsessed with them lol..I had to set the sound post because mine had fallen because the seller didn’t want to send it with the bridge up. Anyway sorry for the long comment. I’m just really curious to how I should proceed.
jaiv2001 well, I can’t see or hear you play, but often self learners can get overconfident, because there’s no one pointing out mistakes. What you play doesn’t tell me much, because I don’t know how you play in terms of sound quality, bowing, rhythm and intonation. Can you improve in these areas in simple songs, then yes: stick to those and go for quality of HOW you play instead of WHAT you play. Hope this is helpful.
VIOLIN LOUNGE by Violinist Zlata Ok I understand! Where do I find the pricing info? I’m looking on my phone but haven’t come across it yet. If I can afford it I will give it a go!
I have a request and I didn't know where to place it. Can you make a series about different scales, with finger charts/finger placement? And, I haven't learned vibrato yet, but now you scared me even more 😱 May be you can make it up for me doing my request lol
Well, I've been in my recording cave working on a new project launching on my channel soon that will include scales with finger close ups and explanations, but you can of course see if www.sensationalscales.com is something for you (there are free Slices to see if it's what you're looking for).
Do I have to bend my first knuckle (the one closest to the fingernail) back and forth to do vibrato? It’s very hard to do it on the violin and I think my vibrato sounds fine without its movement.
If you're completely happy with your vibrato, of course don't worry. This knuckle should move passively along with the vibrato movement coming from your arm and/or wrist. You could do finger vibrato exercises, but they come from the base knuckle more than the rest of the finger. Maybe if you focus on relaxing this knuckle instead of moving it will loosen it up? But still: it's not a must.
VIOLIN LOUNGE by Violinist Zlata Thanks. I think my vibrato is a bit narrow actually, it might be due to that. I’ll try to do what you say and see what comes of it.
Hi Zlata. I done well doing vibrato, But sometimes when i play, i get real nervous on how the sound isnt quality without vibrato to make it a good sound thats very colorful. Even when i'm nervous before i started playing wherever i'm at making sure i dont mess up. Hope you got some right advice, Zlata. Hugs from America!!
Yes, certainly, if the tempo and oscillation are more of a coincidence, you won't have control over it when you're nervous. When you practice different tempi, oscillations (so how wide or narrow) and rhythms like I mention in the video, you can gain back control even when you're nervous and your hand stiffens. Hope this helps!
