One of the cautions I would like to share about red clover and peri-menopausal or menopausal versus POST-menopausal women: Once you've passed through and stopped having the negative symptoms associated with peri-menopause and menopause, you might want to avoid red clover. It can start those symptoms all over again. Much like the phytoestrogens in soy, red clover seems to bring hormonal levels up just enough to cause issues in some women. Some women are especially sensitive to these products, so a small test with small doses might be wise. Once a woman's hormone levels reach a comfortable equilibrium after menopause, introducing plant pseudo estrogens or hormonal precursors might not be what you want to do. There are other ways to help with bone health that don't include hormonal tweaking, for most individuals. Like most things in life, herbal remedies and supplements are very individualized. Your mileage may vary. Proceed with caution and do your own research. There is a wealth of medicine out there that you can make yourself and tailor to your own needs. Food for thought is wonderful, but it is no substitute for the real thing. Much love and respect from another "lady of a certain age" in north Texas.
Wow, does the red clover increase more saliva? Because it does for horses, just asking. Are you in low country Tennessee or up in the mountains? I’m west Tennessee border.

I was big into herbs in my 20's. I want to get back into it so bad and grow my own. I love red clover! I used it once as a poultice on someone who has viral arthritis and was swollen like a balloon. You need to make a covered roof to protect your wood. I live in Puerto Rico and I had my husband hire his friend to make me a covered shed for my multiuse garden shed, outdoor propane gas stove for my canning, and clothesline. It’s made of cement and ceramic tiled for easy cleaning.
It's hard to find anyone for small construction jobs here. Good people are busy with other bigger projects. I hired a man to rebuild my raised bed, didn't know what he was doing. Wasted two mornings on it. It lies abandoned. I almost got my woodshed the first year, but didn't happen.

Hi Kaye. Great video (again). Red clover has many properties that interest me. After 55 years as a working guitarist and my Huey helicopter hitting the ground the wrong way in 76, osteo issues are a big concern. One of the problems for males today is hidden estrogen generators in foods such as soy products etc. I will do some research on benefit to risk for males. Enjoyed my first mullein tea last night (purchased. The four mullein plants I found on my property are first year). Thanks for these informative videos. Please keep them coming. Have a blessed day and hope your back feels better soon. PS: Love your hair. : )
Sharon of Sharon's Natural Gardens uses first year leaves for mullein tincture. I know it says elsewhere to use 2nd year leaves. IDK if there is really a difference. The hidden soy in foods, I'm afraid, are the least of our worries going forward. I saw one scientist saying he had found the nanotechnology (from the C shots) in dental anesthetic, and others are saying they have been putting it in wild and domestic livestock for a while now. IDK. We do the best we can to take care of ourselves. God bless and LMK what you find out. OMG, just looked up Huey helicopter as I wasn't sure. You really went down in it??
Oh Kaye, I loved watching this. Mainly because I was glad to see someone else being antsy to get out and play in the dirt...or right now, mud...UGH! I live also in TN, in the Smokies. We are so blessed to have so many wild edibles and medicinal plants...I pick things out of my yard regularly to eat and dry for teas and tinctures. Enjoyed your video! Oh, and to improve the taste, just add some other things, like mint, Holy Basil, lemony wood sorrel, rosemary, even basil. And a little local, raw honey!
That is awesome! Thanks. I have all those! Though garden has taken a beating from weeks of no rain. I need to collect cranberry hibiscus leaves, sweet potato leaves, and more tomorrow. I love the Smokies and was married in Cades Cove.
You make me wanna make some red clover tea RIGHT NOW! BUT FIRST-- I WILL PLANT IT! If I may comment on bone health, I have been taking Bone Up (by Jarrow company) for twenty years -- not consistently, not every day, but every week, now and again from my supplement box. I had a bone scan last year (at 65) and I am completely normal. Bone Up is a wonderful supplement that causes calcium to go where it needs to go -- and NOT someplace else! Please give it a try, Kaye. Take it along with the red clover tea. What a DYNAMIC DUO that is!!
At first I thought you were talking about the crimson clover you grow but plain red clover grows just about anywhere. Had no idea it has so many great health benefits. That rain you were getting was crazy - no planting getting done in that. Just got back from strawberry picking and now I have lots of processing to do and hope my jars/lids/rings hold out. Wonderful presentation, my friend! I just might do a red clover cover crop this year and make some tincture and tea! Saying prayers that you'll get enough dry days to let you plant your garden, and soft, gentle rainy ones to water it. God bless.

Uggg - I had my right hip replaced and need my left one done. I have disks degenerating in my back ... I just keep working hard though. When my Dr asks if I workout, I tell him, "I garden on a hill". hahahaha I think that's quite enough of a workout. Some folks just do not understand how much work goes into growing things. Do you happen to be growing any stevia plant? If so, try popping some stevia leaves in with your clover tea. That might sweetin it up a wee bit.
I've failed at growing stevia, but I should give it another try. Maybe I'll pick up a plant at the nursery. I'm sorry to hear about all those bone issues! Would red clover help at all? My lower spine and neck is degenerated, has been for decades. But, we keep going. God bless you.

I drink red clover tea daily for all the things you spoke of. I put a tb in a tea strainer and pour hot water over it, let it steep for good bit, and then drink it. I tend to add a good pinch of raspberry leaf too for the bladder support. You are very inspiring. Thanks for the video.
@@Latebloomershow Yes, any raspberry leaf plant will work. A lot of times as I'm pulling the dried leaves out that I buy, there are itty bitty dried raspberries in there. That tickles me. It's the leaves though that *may* help with bladder challenges. I'm in my mid 50's with osteopenia and almost osteop in my hips. Unable to tolerate estrogens (even compounded) so I am leaning heavily on herbs, gently walking and strength type exercises as well as trying to keep my stress down. I've heard as we age we don't handle stress as easily so we tend to remove those things that stress us, so we can be more peaceful. I'm always trying to declutter, but my brain takes a vacation and I can't decide on things..so I go out to garden 🙂 Just another tid bit, Jessical Valant is a GREAT PT here on YT and has many helpful stretches for back, hips etc. Very gentle and doable before bed, or upon rising. Sending Hugs from Colorado.
Just found your channel after I looked out over my yard & saw all the red clover blossoms! Heading out to gather!! 😉 Subbed & looking forward to more! God bless!
Your Red Clover tea and tincture sounds wonderful. I do not have any clover here at all. May plant some but we will see. Do have grasshoppers! Oh my! Only 3 here so far and I killed 2 of those by stepping on them (they seemed pretty inactive and seemed to be young adults). Saw a few huge Grasshoppers in a parking lot at the store so they are here. Will try many good ideas such as flour, D.E. food grade, and garlic or hot pepper spray or last resort, NEEM. No NOLO bait available still anywhere in the country. Glad you have a Buccees up on the Plateau now (newish?). Saw this on another site and thought I'd mention it as it is located in Crossville.
What is Buccees? Oh, I just looked it up. I never drive that direction past Cookeville. What do they offer to make the trip? And NOLO bait? Good luck staying on top of the grasshoppers. God bless!
@@Latebloomershow The NOLO was a natural protozoan based bait that kills grasshoppers and crickets. I am guessing but do not know that the company producing NOLO had their plant burn nearly 2 years ago - but there was another company elsewhere that produced it under a different name and that also has been discontinued. My guess is crickets were an issue but nobody is saying anything about it. This protozoa did not affect butterflies, bees or birds.

Weeds? What weeds? My gosh, you are living the "California Dream", AKA, escape to rural Tennessee. 🤣 I wish the internet had smellivision, all that gorgeous clover. This was linked under an embroidery channel I follow. I'm glad I clicked. 😄
I fully intend to enjoy your posts. My husband was just diagnosed type 2 and I'm determined to keep him in normal range, so I'm on a quest to make sure he doesn't end up a wreck from medications. We're starting him on black pepper, carefully because it aids absorption and his glucose might dive too low. I'm finding out so much about lab made meds it scares the heck out of me. I'd rather we went with the real thing as much as possible. The channel I found your link under was "Malina GM Embroidery", her red clover post just today.
Love the videos. You are so inspiring. Love forging and making goodness for the body. It’s what our ancestors did. Continue caring and sharing more about your wonderful homestead!💕

I have the same identical black hat but yours looks way better😄
Did you get it from Duluth? Mine is eggplant...?
@@Latebloomershow oooo pretty. It looked black on my phone but you are so cute in yours. Mine is black but I would have definitely gotten the Eggplant instead! Enjoy 😉
I think we call this honey suckle in Idaho. When I was little we used to pull the petals off and suck the nectar out.
Thanks dear kaye for another great video 😊, my goodness wet wet,I love love the clover, well done, I shall pass on to my one of mys daughter and her husband he will be very interested in t h e red clover tea,.beautiful red clover, everything looks fresh and lush,,take care ,love to the big kits and linden. Love n prayers you and for your mum,😊
I HEARD THE HUMMINGBIRD WINGS FLUTTER SHUGGY LOVE FROM LONNIE IN N.C.
I drink red clover tea daily for all the things you spoke of. I put a tb in a tea strainer and pour hot water over it, let it steep for good bit, and then drink it. I tend to add a good pinch of raspberry leaf too for the bladder support. You are very inspiring. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much!! You’re welcome!
Will any raspberry leaf do? I’ve got a couple of plants.
I'm always trying to declutter, but my brain takes a vacation and I can't decide on things..so I go out to garden 🙂
Just another tid bit, Jessical Valant is a GREAT PT here on YT and has many helpful stretches for back, hips etc. Very gentle and doable before bed, or upon rising.
Sending Hugs from Colorado.
@@Latebloomershow I was given Bone Strength from my NP, it's algae based and I am not sure but I think it's absorbed easier w/o side effects.
Just found your channel after I looked out over my yard & saw all the red clover blossoms! Heading out to gather!! 😉 Subbed & looking forward to more! God bless!
Wonderful! Welcome!! Check out my medicinal plants playlist. I am adding to it every month.
lol "tastes earthy" is such a great way to describe it. I just did the same thing as you and the word I used was "outdoorsy" hahah
Haha perfect!
The educational ones are great ! Thanks for this 💚
Love your videos on Edible wild plants and their benefits
I'll be making more when I get a little caught up with food preserving. Thanks!
God bless!
Do read the top pinned comment if you are POST menopausal.
@@Latebloomershow Thanks! I just did. Yep, pushing 70 myself. Happy Mother's Day today!
Awesome information thank you for sharing and I’d like to see more information because I’m a believer in Knowledge is Power
Oh, I bet the deer are your buds with all that clover around; I get them (the deer) around my place mooching frequently.
Hi,
We recently purchased 11 acres in Tennessee & currently in visiting. Just pick myself some red clover. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your clips
Sounds great! What area? What are you close to? I'm looking to build community here.
I LOVE hummers! Thank you for this really interesting and inspiring video! I think it might be important for me to make and keep this tincture! I'm about 12 years past the start of menopause, but I have friends who are struggling through it. It's definitely not fun. Keep doing these kind of videos. I'm trying to learn herbalism, and channels like yours are helping me greatly! Thank you!❤
Yes please! Moore videos like this one!
I'll try to have one for the weekend. Today I will try and film a garden update this afternoon for tomorrow's upload. Stay tuned!
Weeds? What weeds? My gosh, you are living the "California Dream", AKA, escape to rural Tennessee. 🤣 I wish the internet had smellivision, all that gorgeous clover. This was linked under an embroidery channel I follow. I'm glad I clicked. 😄
I’m glad you did, too!! I hope to hear from you often! I am originally from middle TN, life change brought me here. I LOVE sewing and handwork!
Happy Mother's Day Kaye, loved this video. Love ALL of your videos!!! Have a wonderful day.
Love the videos. You are so inspiring. Love forging and making goodness for the body. It’s what our ancestors did. Continue caring and sharing more about your wonderful homestead!💕
I got through menopause using no hormone replacement therapy. I used red clover and black cohosh tea instead.
So smart!!! That's what Dr. Nicole Apelian suggests.
YES! I would love to see more videos from you like this. Thank you for this info.
More to come! Thank you!
I did not see the humming bird, but i heard it twice. Nice 😊 .ake a tea blend, it can improve the flavor.
Frankincense oil is good for the pain in your back. Mix it with a carrier oil like coconut and hemp and rub it in. I call it Heaven in a bottle.
Will do!! Thanks!
@@Latebloomershow Kaye, don't let back pain take care of itself. Get to a chiropractor. If you don't it can turn into bulging disk. Also limit WI-FI or EMF (electromagnetic frequency in your home) back pain resumed for me after smart meter was installed. It is terrible how they are "cooking" us. GO barefoot on your lawn EVERYDAY. I step out even when there is snow or rain on the ground.
Very informative. Thank you.
Thank you. I love medicinal herbs and plant education
I'm in Pennsylvania and am patiently waiting for mine to bloom as I am running low from last year's harvest.
Wonderful! Do take a look at the top pinned comment if you are POST menopausal! God bless.
Nice. I like to add a touch of raw honey with whatever tea I’m drinking.❤️☕️
I will in future, haha. Just wanted to taste the real thing first.
I think it's called Osterpenia. Thanks for the video.
thank you kaye! more tintures would be great
I will!
Love this!! Thank you so much, I shared your channel!!
You're the best! Thank you!!
I would love to see more posts on making medicinal tinctures and teas!
I have a few in mind. I think I'll do yarrow next because I have plantain growing all year.
As always liked and shared.
Totally enjoyed this video red clover is something I'm hoping to grow. So many benefits-yes to more video like this.
was so helpful. I will certainly go pick some in my back yard. Thanks so much you are a blessing!!
Thank you for this information! I'm 44 and premenopausal. I will definitely be collecting red clover.
Since my video, my clover leaves are covered in mildew, so watch out for that. Older plants seem to get it and it stays.
Loves me some clovers. Good with slippery elm an chamomile.
They get covered with powdery mildew is my only complaint. Never had slippery elm.
Love your medicinal videos please do more
Thank you! I will!
I actually saw some red clover on the road side yesterday. I commented to my husband bc id never seen it before. Ive seen red clover , like thats red but not purple red clover lol
The bright red is Crimson clover and I seed my big garden with that. The red (pale purple) clover is wild. But, do take care where you pick it. Roadsides are probably the worse place.
❤ great info! I have hack issues as well & if I can find some to grow will try this too😊🙏😊
Mullein would be good also!
