Thank you. I’ve been torn as I want a device I can use with Blender, Fusion360, and Shaper3d. That's good to hear. I think the iPad Pros start at a higher basic storage than regular iPads or iPad minis, so I'm glad that's enough to handle that many paintings!
This absolutely helped me make the decision for which one to save up for. I want to illustrate on the go and have no desire for 3D models. Which means I’ll pay more but ultimately the iPad is the best choice. I have a smaller iPad but I want a bigger screen. Once I save up for the bigger one I’ll probably give my smaller one to my grandma for her to do small graphic design stuff in procreate and Canva like she wants to.
I'm glad I could help! I think that's a great idea. If you're on the go and are able to save up for a larger iPad, I think that's the way to go, IMO. Plus it never hurts to gift your grandma an iPad : )
funny. i also have an ipad pro and an xp pen 22. i bought both because i was not sure which one i would use. turns out i use the ipad for drawing and painting and the xp pen 22 for animation and 3D work in blender. the ipad does not have a vesa mount so it was difficult for me to get the ipad in the correct position where i could work for hours without neck or back fatigue. this was fixed by attaching a small board to an articulating monitor arm, then i used rubber bands to hold the ipad to the board. now i can get the ipad in the perfect position. at this point i still prefer procreate for drawing and painting over clip studio but maybe that will change eventually
I use an XP-PEN 22e Pro on a cheap $35 arm mount which completes the setup. I can set it up as a second monitor when not in use and let it hover at an angle over my mouse when its in use. VESA is one of the most important features to me, and its only available on pen displays larger than 20in. I love using using for more complex projects with many layers. I can actually keep panels/windows open in my creative software while I work thanks to the screen size. Though you do need a decent computer to get a good experience with it, though that is more a fault of the software rather than the tablet itself. I also have a M1 11in iPad Pro. I love it for its portability. Use it all the time for sketching and brain storming. I also like to use it for less intensive projects. If your a graphic designer, then working with typography is rough and slow on the iPad.
That's great setup. I also find that some things are just harder to do on the iPad and I think that's why having both to use is such a great combination.
IMO, Apple Pencil 2 is equivalent to the starter version of Wacom. They're great for photo editing but jerking when painting. Apple P2 needs to press unrealistically hard to get my chosen color. XP-Pen with Corel paint experience is surreal. It feels like you dip a brush in oil and run it across the canvas in real life, and the color is like oil on screen. It's the best digital painting experience.
I feel like the apple pencil is really smooth and has less parallax than the XP pen and even most Wacoms. I do also really enjoy the XP Pen pen, though. Maybe it depends on what software you're using, too.
I think 16 inches is fine for a lot of people, so if you're worried about the 22 in being too big, I'd go with a slightly smaller one. Full HD on a 16 in display will look crisper than a 22, too, so that's another plus side

But other than that, xp-pen is one of the best and of course you should have better software in pc or laptop otherwise you can’t enjoy xp-pen. (Based on my experience)
to keep in mind about usb-c, if you are running a desktop or laptop that has a gpu you cannot use the usb-c port as an additional display unless if its directly on the graphics card. or you get an extender and converter which does affect color accuracy. It works fine with apple systems due to their computers having only their integrated graphics on the cpu, unless if they specify otherwise in their pro lineup.

Actually there is a shortcut to becoming a better digital artist. That is practicing with a piece of paper and an ink pen. For all you over sensitive types who are already triggered and defensive. Did I say never draw on digital? No! I said practice with paper and ink. Make yourself better by challenging yourself. Challenge is actually a good thing.......
This video isn't about becoming a better digital artist, it's about finding a digital tablet that works best for you, specifically between getting an iPad or an XP Pen tablet. No one here is suggesting replacing traditional practice and fundamentals with only digital drawing...not sure where you're getting that from?
@@studio_fudelio Wow.....no reason to get defensive. I just mentioned that because you stated it "there are no shortcuts" in your video. Chill out......
@@ducksoff7236 I was just responding to your comment, I'm not being defensive. Sorry if you took it that way. Me saying there are no shortcuts is the same idea as what you're saying about challenging yourself with pen and paper practice. I think we're more on the same side of this argument than you might think. Thanks for watching the vid. Not trying to get in an argument, just wanted to respond to your first comment.
@@studio_fudelio I agree we are on the same page. I was just making the point that the short cut is doing it the hard way because once you have that skill set digital is a breeze and you won't be a ctrl+z addict. Which is a huge waste of time and it limits you. For all you know you may actually like that line you put down later in the process.
I don't use Photoshop on my iPad. I use a software called Clip Studio Paint : ) Photoshop does have an iPad app now, but it's not as powerful as the desktop app. Apparently, Adobe Fresco is a pretty good app to draw in on the iPad, but I haven't really used it.
If you're used to working on a 4k screen or even QHD then it might be, but I didn't have any issues adjusting and barely notice, tbh. I don't do work that requires anything higher than FHD, so it may depend on the person.
They also have 24" WQHD (2560*1440) and 16" 4K - so you can get hi-res if you ready to pay for this. I hope they will add 120hz options too for smooth experience
That's exaclty why I'm comparing them. This is for anyone who's not sure whether one or the other may be right for them. There are pros and cons to both, so it's nice to know what you can and can't do with both of them before you decide to pull the trigger. I personally struggled with which one to go for, that's why I made this. I also mention all this in the video.
I've never used a Samsung tablet before but that one looks pretty good. I like the iPad because it's easy to share files and sync across my other apple devices.
@@studio_fudelio I use one of two Samsung tablets (S6 lite and S7 FE) with Krita across Android and PC if I see a need to draw somewhere a laptop would be...inconvenient (I could use Clip Studio on them in conjunction with the same app on PC but I'm allergic to CSP being subscription-ware on Android :D ). I don't own any iDevices, and I have no trouble shuttling files via Bluetooth between those tablets, an Android phone, and several PC laptops, so that may be a potential avenue for those unwilling to tangle with the Apple ecosystem. I grew up with non-screen tablets, and still use one with a Razer keypad (Tartarus 2) for shortcut keys. Before acquiring the two Samsung tablets, I had a Surface Pro 2 to experiment with onscreen drawing, but it died of video-card failure before I acclimated to drawing with it. (at least the SP2 pen works with Samsung S-Pen enabled tablets/phones).
@@RailRide Yeah, whatever works best for you : ) I've gotten so used to drawing on the iPad it might be hard for me to switch to a different fully portable tablet.
I love the IPad
But How did use photoshop on it ?
I don't use Photoshop on my iPad. I use a software called Clip Studio Paint : )
Photoshop does have an iPad app now, but it's not as powerful as the desktop app.
Apparently, Adobe Fresco is a pretty good app to draw in on the iPad, but I haven't really used it.
Can you please review the huion kamvas pro 19
soo, im thinking of going with an xp pen. i want to be a comic book artits. does anyone want to give me a fresh perpective on which i shoud get?!
Isn’t FHD(1920x1080) alittle lacking by today’s standard?
If you're used to working on a 4k screen or even QHD then it might be, but I didn't have any issues adjusting and barely notice, tbh.
I don't do work that requires anything higher than FHD, so it may depend on the person.
They also have 24" WQHD (2560*1440) and 16" 4K - so you can get hi-res if you ready to pay for this.
I hope they will add 120hz options too for smooth experience
@@Xenotester Yeah I think in the next coming years we'll see more and more options for QHD and 4K.
@@studio_fudelio they already have some hi-res models, but nothing with high refresh rate
@@Xenotester True. I also meant I just hope we'll see it being distributed to all the lower end and cheaper models.
One is a self enclosed tablet computer, the other needs a computer to plug into. How is this even a comparison?
Agree
That's exaclty why I'm comparing them. This is for anyone who's not sure whether one or the other may be right for them. There are pros and cons to both, so it's nice to know what you can and can't do with both of them before you decide to pull the trigger. I personally struggled with which one to go for, that's why I made this. I also mention all this in the video.
Samsung tab s8 ultra is better
I've never used a Samsung tablet before but that one looks pretty good.
I like the iPad because it's easy to share files and sync across my other apple devices.
Not for the artist, procreate is mindblowing. I shifted from Samsung tab to iPad.
@@RailRide Yeah, whatever works best for you : )
I've gotten so used to drawing on the iPad it might be hard for me to switch to a different fully portable tablet.
I prefer Apple's UI/UX in general for art stuff so that's why I stick with Apple but I know a lot of ppl don't want to be a part of the Apple ecosystem. That's why I think XP pen and some of these other companies are awesome cus they're giving ppl other options at an affordable price.
Thanks for sharing your setups, though!
