    The thing that facinates me the most about this channel is what the video making process must be like. There's years between shots and so many different trees. Keeping track of everything seems daunting.

      Lol! Thanks for thinking of us - it is indeed a massive job following all these trees over the years! But these videos I think are far more educational than one-offs right?

      @@bonsaiempire yeah it would much worse content if you just saw pruning and wiring without seeing the long term effect.

    I wasn’t aware that you could remove the green leaves on Chinese elm in fall, that’s helpful to know! Thanks 👍🏼

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  Місяць тому +4

      Yes you can in late fall (most of the leaves had fallen off anyway). Its better to wait dont get me wrong, but in this case we couldn't.

      Glad you like it. Making these long term progressions is time consuming but I think it pays off :)

    I love Chinese elms. Started with 2, and now from cuttings i have many. I have also a group of 9 cutting that i allowed to just grow over the summer that I'm gonna do a group planting with. I have a nice pot i made and a nice slab. Not sure which I'll use but can't wait for spring!!!

    Hi. I love the progress on this tree. I have a Chinese Elm bigger than this one (bought at Intratuin in February 2024) and I have it outside in the garden in NL. It has not given autumn red/orange colored leaves.
    Should I remove the leaves considering it's winter now?
    Thank you so much again for your awesome video and channel!

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  Місяць тому

      No dont remove the leaves unless you want to wire it for example - otherwise just wait until the tree drops its leaves in winter. Chinese elm, when winterized and dormant, will drop its leaves much later than most other species!

    Chinese elm can be integrated onto stone very well

    The shoots on my Elm are very thin and hang down. Almost like a Willow.. Should I leave them or trim them back?

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  Місяць тому +1

      Well - pruning depends a lot on what your goals are :) If you want the tree to look better now you can prune them. But if you want to develop the branches or trunk, you might want to wire and not prune. Feel free to read a bit on our site at www.bonsaiempire.com :)
