Celebrating Holidays As a Slow Traveler Away From Family | Easter in the Dominican Republic

If you're a slow traveler or digital nomad chances are you're going to end up spending holidays away from your friends and family. Being in a foreign country for a holiday can be challenging on a couple of levels.
One is emotional and you might feel lonely or sad to be away from the people you love, and the other is from a planning perspective. Each place celebrates in different ways and you might not be familiar with the customs or when the area completely shuts down making it difficult to get groceries or do anything. This year we're celebrating Easter or Semana Santa in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic, where there is supposed to be a huge party. This is how we prepare and get through the holiday without our families and friends around.
