Got to be honest I don’t blame Shadow for assuming that the virus can’t infect him. I mean Project Shadow was designed to be immune to all diseases so that his blood could be reverse engineer to cure Maria. Sadly it seems that his assumption was wrong.
I agree to a certain extent since although shadow was the ultimate lifeform he is only immune to biological diseases the metal virus appears to be a somewhat a nano tech virus where it converts organic material into programmable metal, and I think that he let alone Rouge would understand that this was out his league and his status ain't gonna help him(unless he has some sort of doomsday trait where what effects him once won't work a second time but that's beside the point) here they just make him look arrogant and reckless, I understand that he had to be written out because of his power but it would have been better if he did something more akin to what happened to Tangle maybe a zombot snuck past omega and tried to go after Rouge a resistance soldier or a refugee and it just got a lucky hit on him and because sonic was gone he had to deal with the zombots omega couldn't handle and he got overwhelmed
I assume the immunity must have been thought out for all "known" diseases. This metal virus being new is an exception in that case.
fair enough but that still doesn’t excuse them for acting like an idiot and just keep pounding away when he should’ve try running it off like sonic, even if it didn’t work you should’ve at least done something rational, I’m sorry for complaining about this but I just don’t like the direction that shadow is being taken in our days, thank you Saga
@@scodeknight3178 It's all about perspective, you're thinking as someone who would analyze the situation fully (like Tails). Shadow isn't that person, he's more of a Jotaro type, punch until the job is completed. (I know I'm being a hypocrite but meh, don't care)

Oh my gosh, thank you so much! We have a good time here, Techno did a phenomenal job as Omega, incredible delivery, and after hearing Trev for years, how much his Shadow has evolved is such a treat to listen to. I think we make a pretty good Team Dark altogether. XD

Alright, this thing's starting to feel less and less like a fandub, and more and more like a professional production. It's been amazing watching this whole thing improve over time, everything from the music, to the voice acting, to even video editing has gotten so, _so_ much better. This one was wild, keep up the good work, guys.

I loved the improv Danny did with stuff like "I am going to kill you to death!" etc, hopefully I made it audible enough

I give credit for that second one to someone I'm close with. They said that while we were gaming, and they've never been able to live it down since (mostly thanks to me XD)

Fun fact: the scene where Shadow is holding back the zombots Flynn had planned for Shadow to take off his inhibitor rings and use full power but in the end still lose to the infection. However, that plan was scrapped by Sega because they wanted the story to focus on Shadow’s and Sonic’s rivalry 😑
Wouldn't that also contradict the end of the story where Sonic gets rid of the virus by going Super? Both Super Sonic and Uninhibited Shadow both project the same kind of energy, chaos energy.
@@deadlysilence7474 Considering Uninhibited power pales in comparison to Super form and it also lasts even less than the Super form would, it'd be much like Sonic running it off, but wouldn't cure him of it
@@deadlysilence7474 More it would be foreshadowing to how they could cure it. Uninhibited Shadow can’t produce the same energy as a Super Form, but it would produce enough to slow it or even reverse it…before he runs out of energy and gets dogpiled
@@LegendPurpleDragon152 That sounds a lot more better and would have improved the whole story. It would make them acknowledge the Super Form as the ultimate plan instead of just using it cause why not. Makes it feel less of a dues ex machina.

Honestly, this Shadow performance makes the whole scene feel much better. Great job.
But overall character direction sucks.
I'm starting to hate his arrogant attitude. He has had enough time in several continuities to attain closure.

Holy crap, Shadow sounded really Good. Trev managed to capture the anger and pride of Shadow in this issue, especially with how Shadow really did think that he was above being infected, only for it to backfire and get him infected.

Watching Sonic actually talking to (heck, even ACKNOWLEDGING) other Sonic characters is just so refreshing! It's just something we don't see enough of in the games these days!
Seriously Sega, stop listening to haters and detractors who whine about "Sonic's Stupid Friends!" Trying to appeal to them simply isn't improving the series at all!
Exactly; the deeper the lore and the more diverse the range of official characters, the better.
One thing I love about the Sonic fandom is its ability to use characters from multiple continuities to craft a deeper and more multi-faceted world.
@@legoferrari14 The sad truth though is that there are people out there who just don't give a monkeys about the lore or storytelling of the Sonic games, and just want nothing more than running through loops and jumping on robots!
These are the types of people who seem to get what they want, and yet fans who want to see better characterization, more in depth stories and some actual continuity that makes sense are treated like an afterthought, or just straight up ignored! "It's called Sonic the Hedgehog! So why should the games waste time focusing on all those other stupid characters who no one even likes?" I hate that kind of mentality! It's just not doing the series any good!

@@panch3470 True, but there's a part of me that thinks that Sega don't really care! If they can make money from people's nostalgia then that's all that matters to them.
Christ, I don't think they even care when their games get bad reviews. They're probably just thinking "Well people are still buying our games, mostly so they can poke fun of them and accuse anyone who likes Sonic games as being weirdo furries, because they think it makes them look cool and clever! But we'll still make money, so who cares, right?"

@@mugen1777 In fairness, he genuinely thought his weird ass physiology would make him immune, and he says later on that he completely misinterpreted Sonic and Rouge's warnings. Still really dumb though.
@@mugen1777 It wasn't just Shadow's pride. The second we saw him in this issue, you could tell he was NOT happy, even more so than usual. Everything that's happened was because he didn't end Eggman in Windmill village, at least from his perspective. Even though it wasn't stated, he probably blamed himself as much as he blamed Sonic, and that only fueled his anger. His anger and pride kept him from thinking straight, which led to him being infected. That's at least how I see it.
Check out Sonic and Tails R episode 6, it's easily the best Shadow has been written since 06.

I noticed that shift in Sonics voice during that conversation with Shadow. What a subtle and amazing way to show the virus' progress!
Trev's voicework for Shadow is absolutely on point here. From the opening arrogant-filled "Shut up" to the terror-filled screams at the end, he nailed every moment. This was quite the emotional rollercoaster of an issue and everyone did such an awesome job!

Sounds very similar to David Humphrey's vocal delivery.
The thing that interests me is how Shadow thought he was immune, but how wrong he was.
I feel like the reason why he was susceptible was because the virus _isn’t_ a disease. It’s all mini-nanobots designed to mimic a virus.
With everyone labeling it as a “virus”, Shadow couldn’t have known that it was artificial, let alone not even a disease at all.
That is actually the full counter to the "we didn't know the Metal Virus would be the exception of Shadow not being able to get infected" reply.
That actually makes sense when you think about it. The Metal Virus also doesn't have any symptoms aside from it consuming you when infected.
The Nano Bots are also really small. So when Sonic burns them off. I assume some of them survive his speed. Which is also why burning them off doesn't cure you.
The Nano Bots probably hide deep in your body, maybe in the blood.
Considering fully infected Zombots can regenerate from even the most severe injuries, the Nano Bots after consuming the host, just converts them into a sort of biological Robot. It could also be, since the Metal Virus acts like a virus, it can reproduce and clone itself enough to just regenerate the Host from damage. Kinda like Iron Man's nanobots for his suit. Being able to undo the damage done to it.
Also infection happens immediately after contact with a Zombot, probably because the Zombots are covered in those Nano Bots. They stick to a non infected by the slightest touch.

Trev’s performance as Shadow in this made him sound like an awesome mix of both Jason Griffith’s and David Humphrey’s Shadow voices!
5:29 really get some cocky David humphrey vibes here, this is still easily the best dub of idw I've ever seen. Super well edited with fitting voices and great acting.

I think the immunity assumption makes sense for Shadow, given the whole 'Ultimate Cure' thing from Archie. I still would've had Shadow acknowledge it's too late for him instead of being stubborn.
Shadow being made to be a cure for NIDS isn't from Archie. That was in the games.

To those who don't know, the original plan was for Shadow to unlock his inhibitor rings and instead use the energy output from those to combat the infection as an alternative to running. But Sega vetoed it, as they wanted Shadow's characterization to be written in a specific way (an overconfident rival, ala Vegeta).
Hence why he's so OOC here.
it would be so much more badass if he went "cowards run, i win" and then took the inhibitors off and would really add up to the threat of the metal virus, how sega can manage to both love and hate its fans at the same time its a mystery to me

Oh my gosh, the pacing of the last issue was amazing, and then this ramped it up even more! Like I've read through this part of the story before, I know it gets intense, but somehow this was even more intense and emotional with the way it's put together, and I'm delighted by that. Everyone did a phenomenal job, great work team! That editing was slick, and all the voices and sounds felt really good.

you know, first reading this i REALLY thought shadow wouldn't be able to be infected (what with the whole "you can't infect the ultimate lifeform" like or whatever). honestly, that should've been a major plot element that really could have used shadow in an interesting way, not to mention with a good explanation as the infection "can't spread to processed material" (as he was made in eggman's lab)! that would've been awesome to see, totally should've done something with that.

Awesome job as always, everyone brought their A-game with this one.
While I also have no love for the Sega mandates for Shadow's personality I did hear a great fan theory explaining some of his abrasiveness. It goes that since the last time he let a villain go, said villain, Infinite, became a world threatening terror. He was indirectly responsible for creating the deadliest foe he and his allies ever faced, witnessed him and Eggman take over the world, using replicas of his own image no less, and in the end he only played a supporting role in his defeat. The Sonics and the hero fixed his mistake.
All things considered Shadow becoming more rash, prideful and violent due to the events of Forces don't seem too far-fetched.

That would make sense. Maybe he doesn't want another case like Infinite to happen again. Sonic's reluctance to kill his enemies reminds Shadow of how him not killing Infinite led to the Jackal becoming a nightmare
this is getting more and more serious and i actually love it,we don't really see this level of seriousness in anything sonic (as far as i know) and it's a really really nice breath of fresh air for me,and watching this very much so puts that into prospective, keep up the amazing work people

YES!!!! THIS MACHINE!!! HECK YEAH, I love the ost in this series!!!!
And Team Dark's VAs? Perfection (are they new or am I imagining things?). Really like Shadow's voice, a very original take that fits very well (not too deep and slow like the 4Kids and SA2 voice and not too edgy and try-hard like the current one, just right). Rouge's voice is also a highlight, sounds very mature and serious with that hint of sexyness and playfulness that fits her femme fatale character. Omega tho? Nothing to say other than chef's kiss, the robot voices are always good (the sound mix on Sonic infected voice is godly).
And we flawlesly passed the most infamous episode in the series. Shadow my friend, you got beaten by your own overconfidence, and Sonic and Rouge's poor choice of words (you know how Shadow gets at the mention of retreat, "run" is the last thing you need to tell him).
Aw, thank you so much! Nope, we're not new, I've been voicing Rouge as a part of AD since the beginning when she debuted in Issue 6 (and I'm pretty sure Trev and Techno have been here for just as long, but don't quote me on that). I've been doing the character for years now in far more than just this group, though I have to say, we've all grown a lot as VAs in my time here. This issue was an absolute treat, I had such a fun time performing with everyone, glad you enjoyed it. ^^

You know, even if Shadow was kinda out of character, he did have every right to be mad at Sonic. After all, Vector, Espoo and many others weren't entirely thrilled that Sonic spared Eggman either.
The voice actors here were ace as usual.
This is the funniest issue of the whole run, Omega and Shadow are both comedy gold here
Holy smokes man, what can I say except the usual hahaha. Kat really did amazing, her direction was spot the heck on and exactly how I read it when the issue came out.
But MAN Trev's performance!! I can't even comprehend just how perfect and then some he did, SPECIFICALLY with how he took on Shadow's transformation (seriously, were the shouts from anger to terror improvised?? Holy geez man).
Anyway, great episode guys! Can't wait for the next one!!

The amount of fear in shadows voice in his last moments is just so beautifully portrayed same with Rouge and Omega they’re voices fit their characters so well its all just amazing
2 things, first, PERFECT Omega voice. Really sounds like his Heroes incarnation.
Second, I like how the voice work here sells the idea that Shadow's stubbornness came from a place of frustration with himself and Sonic rather than "Saiyan pride" like the comic. It's the more generous take on the scene, and makes it more palatable for me at least.
Just noticed that Sonic sounds slightly more nasal here. Even if it’s unintentional, it makes it work.

The only downside here was shadow being a douche.
Honestly, this comic had probably the best Omega writing in a LONG time. It very clearly shows how he puts up a front of 'I don't care, I just want to kill', but when shit hits the fan, his wording changes. He's not fighting because it's desirable anymore, Omega is doing everything he can to save people.

Ya know I was kinda expecting the gun city truck to make the sounds it made from the sonic generation’s game but the sfx it was making makes me think of funniness for some reason????

I love how when shadow was fighting the Zombots We could hear the battle noises in the background and listening closely you could hear a Crack and after that The terror in shadow’s voice starts.

This saga will always infuriate me due to how they treat shadow. I get there’s mandates that insist he has to be edgy but just because there’s mandates that make him edgy, it doesn’t mean you have to write him out like this.
It makes no sense plot wise and should be mathematically impossible. He could chaos blast them away or teleport away or stop time etc. it’s dumb and written like that because Ian Flynn was denied the way he wanted to write him so he probably took his frustration out by doing it this way.

I like that Rouge is classy enough to not go looting while the people are in trouble, even though it might be easier in some ways.
Omega scares me, but that is the kind of power and lack or hesitation that really helps in a nightmare scenario.
As for Shadow, I understand his confidence and stubbornness, but he should have had the sense to run it off like Sonic was after seeing he could be infected too. Buuuuuuuuuuut this is typical in zombie scenarios. There are a LOT of people who should have avoided infection longer in a fair few cases of this trope, though they'd been doing a really good job up until now of playing it smart while still hurting.

Watching this I saw how shadow actually was immune to the virus because when he was fighting he was not infected stright away so it seems he does have a immunity to the virus although he did attack a swarm at once then after that he just let it take over when he could of ran off and got rid of the virus seeing the virus could of been fully removed with shadow because of him being made to effected to every virus.
Just noticed in the beginning was a remix of Team Dark's theme playing in the background 🔥🔥
Fun fact during the intro when eggmans big robot was there it used a mechagodzilla roar

I wont lie, I really can see where Shadow is coming from when hes pissed off at Sonic. If he finished off Eggman back before then none of the zombot crap would be happening.
Sonic being naive with his idealism just causes more harm then good.
My only issue with Shadow here is that hes a complete idiot about being told to not touch the zombots and he litterally does that. Plus he has Chaos attacks so why doesnt he uses that. And also not running off the infection when Rouge told him to.
Like in his spin off game him using guns bc he forgot how to use Chaos Spear bc of his amnesia is one thing but this is just ridiculous

God I don't know how to feel about this shadow, he definitely was reasonably angry about all of this, but just how prideful he was just ruins everything, he felt like a dragon ball z vegeta with how irrational he acted in such a serious situation, letting his own ego getting in the way by not trying to run off the virus like sonic was.
