- Missing Texas BBQ so I stopped by Wally's gas station to try their brisket sandwich. Later I tried both Cane's and Chick-fil-a to see the comparison. Ending off this trip, I tried a local dumpling shop at STL Soup Dumplings.

Fun fact:
It’s not on the menu but they will sell you a large 32oz drink cup full of sauce for you to take home for around $5, so you can put it on whatever you want whenever you want.
Pizza with canes sauce will send you to another dimension!
I am so happy you said that. We just tried Raising cane's and man that sauce and the chicken is so good. I would love to make a pizza with the sauce that the chicken.
Another fun fact is you can also buy a whole gallon of it like a milk bottle
@@uhavemooface A Canes is currently being built about 1/2 mile from my house. I've never had their food, so I'm excited to try it.
cane’s sauce is pure fat. be careful. one little serving has like 20g fat.
@@jessicam5090 tastes almost identical to zaxbys. if you have a zaxbys nearby, that'll hold you over lol.
Raising canes has the most amazing lemonade you’ll ever have …they squeeze fresh lemons every single morning .. and mix up enough lemonade for the entire day .. a labor of love
So does chick fil A
@@tiamontiero7351 LMAO
Raising canes is mid af.
bro i used to work for canes😭 and bruh the squeezing the lemons actually takes like two three hours
Hell yeah that’s very true
In Louisiana where Raising Cane's is from, everyone buys like 4 extra sauces and trades the coleslaw for either extra toast or fries just so we have more things to dip in the sauce.
The neutral flavored sauce?
And that's why you marry your sister.
Box combo no slaw extra fries, 2 extra sauces, large sweet tea. my usual order.
@@jamesbael6255 Sounds like you jelouse you can't marry his sister haha.
From Louisiana as well. I can relate. The sauce is good with crawfish too.
A recommendation for the next time at raising canes, split the Texas toast in half like a hot dog bun, put a tender a few fries and then go ham on the sauce. I hope you like it!
Yup that's the hack
@Mikey Chen This is the way.
You Muslim bro, Canes is haram for you.

If that ring is what it looks like.... I can not explain or express how happy I would be for a guy I have never met. Much love from Barbados
I noticed the ring in a video a couple of weeks ago, too. Now it's very clearly seen in this video. I think someone got married. 🤔
@@Chefmylaleigh engaged i would imagine. Feels like Mikey would announce it full on

Yea like it's crazy how invested i am in this dude's life like i have never been like that for anyone else but
This is pretty sus. One frame we see the ring and in another scene it's gone..! I think he's trying to hide it..!! (But failed..) =)
I like Chick-fil-a's chicken tenders, but there is nothing out there that can beat Cane's. Albuquerque, NM is waiting for Cane's to open up in 2022. I got hooked on them in Colorado and haven't had any since 2014. There is a Blake's Lotta Burger here in town that makes good chicken tenders, but it is a hit or miss, so I gave up on them.
I feel bad for you man

I used to be an international student in the US 10 years ago and I lived in Nebraska for 2 years.
I remember when I tried Raising Cane for the first time, and I was like damn it’s soo good. I ate it for like 2 week straight and just get sick of it.
Now i can’t have it anymore, watching you try it for the first time just get me so nostalgic
Mikey's pause as he considered the Cane's sauce on the tenders was so classic;
* bites *....
* pause *.....
"Yep, that's good!" lol😆
Thanks for the review Mike! 👍
Yummy licious recipes😋🥰🥰🍱
And then looks to Christine for approval 🤣
As someone from Louisiana where Cane's started.... let me just say, chicken is juicy and fresh most of the time, but overall, pretty bland. The Sauce is the saving grace. I always order an extra one and douse everything in it lol
It's wild to see them expanding so far these days.
Hell, we're getting one here in Oakland, California all the way in the west coast! I used to have to drive almost 3 hours to get some raising canes but now im getting one right in my backyard.. I cant wait!
Thank you! Without the sauce that chicken is tasteless.
@@flick2flick It has taste just not enough to eat a whole plate on its own. To be honest the point is to get the sauce anyways.
@@TheBlackAztec3 if I have to rely on sauce just to give some fried chicken taste then the chicken is trash. The only thing I'll give them is the moist and tender chicken...thats it. The sauce isn't even all that either. Heck....Popeyes & Bojangles taste better than that crap😂
@@flick2flick Nah Popeyes taste like sh*t to me. Hey everyone has their preferences
So, did you get the collapsible table? I think that is pretty nifty.
This is the question we need the answer please!!
I have one of these tables. They are handy and great in situations where there is no where to sit. My only complaint is that they are kinda weak. As long as your not putting too much heavy stuff on the table and you don't weigh over 200 lbs then it will hold up.
@@jemmstone9571 it is designed for kids but adults were using it with extra care. Friends with kids have it and they've been using it every camping season for like 7 years amd still rocking.

Congrats to you and Christine, Mike. Wishing you nothing but love, long life and happiness. You've truly been a big pick-me-up in my trying times of food hunger and self doubt. I've enjoyed seeing your growth since the beginnings. Mad love bruddah.💕
The caines sauce is basically the dip we’ve made for crawfish my whole life. Except the crawfish sauce is doused in Tabasco and spicy
I never had it, recipes claiming to be like it are basically what I call fry sauce.
It makes me happy that mike has company everywhere he goes now :')
I knowwwwww. I know he was happy just doing his thing single but I didnt want him to be alone!
I just gotta say, I would truly enjoy being Mike Chen lol. Imagine just going around the world, eating and telling people what's good and what's not as good. My ultimate dream job is your life lol
You can do it as well !
Mikey you just nailed what the sauce is. Every time a customer asks what's the ingredient, we can only say it's a little sweet, spicy, and tangy. As crew members, we're not allowed to give away what's in the sauce because very many of us don't make it (only the managers) and as a crew member, I've only helped make it at least 3 times in my almost 2 years of working there.
My daughter hounded me about going to raising canes for a long time. So I drove 1.5 hours away to try it. And I gotta say, I see why she insisted. Glad you finally tried it Mikey!
Canes is literally dogshit compared to chill fil a
@@jamesbael6255 anybody who says canes is good has probably never had a chicken tender before
@@jamesbael6255 i guess to each their own. Out of the 5 chick fil a I’ve been to, (including airport, malls, and stand alone stores), its always mediocre and chickens and fries were never crispy. But the canes I’ve been to are always consistent in any location , hot crispy tenders and fries, probably cuz they only have one thing to worry about.
They are across my apartment and I haven't tried them lol

It was a low point and Mikey going around the world tasting all sorts of foods I couldn't was a genuinely bright spot. I'm glad life is going good for him but I'll miss those journeys.
Wait mike chen is wearing a wedding ring! Congratulations!
I noticed that too
From California, and one thing I will say I am jealous of is the gas stations out mid west and east coast. You guys have some seriously impressive gas stations that almost feel like supermarkets, with most of the time carrying amazing food.
Flying J's is pretty decent but nothing like wally's. I would love to go on a trip there just to try out that brisket sandwich and see the products inside that gas station. I live in Cali to.
@@uhavemooface Yea the brisket sandwich looks like a valid reason to go alone haha
Congrats to you and Christine Mikey🥰🥰..so glad you have found each other. We guessed it as soon as we saw extended family around😄😄..be happy.
Buc-ee's is awesome. We make two roadtrips to Texas per year, and we used to plan our route around the Buc-ee's locations. As they added locations, that is no longer necessary. There are now numerous knock-offs around the country trying to capitalize on Buc-ee's success. They are responsible for upping the game throughout the industry.
We have one close by in Tampa. I live in Orlando. I want to go but idk if it is worth an hour and a half drive.
@@MsBebegurl0212 On a slow day, I might drive that far to visit a Buc-ee's, if only to stock up on their very excellent beef jerky. When my daughters were younger, it was comforting to know that when we reached Buc-ee's, we could count on "bathrooms clean enough to make yo mamma proud." They vary in size, but at one Buc-ee's I counted 64 stalls in the mens room, with a full-time attendant to wash them after each use. How many gas stations can do that!
@@vizzini2510 I just want to go.to.see one in person and get some of their sandwiches and other treats. And I love beef jerky so that too!
@@MsBebegurl0212 Nobody ever talks about it, but as a regular (I usually hit up Buc-ee's at one at least once a month on trips to San Antonio) the Buc-ee Club Melt is THE sandwich to get. Turkey, ham, bacon (smoked and/or slow cooked) and jalapeno jack cheese on a sweet roll bun (think Hawaiian rolls type bread, but a lot softer texture) with a spicy honey-mayo, served hot. Just...omg. It's an hour and half to nearest Buc-ee's, or I'd have on in my face right now after describing it...
@@d34dR0d3n7 I will definitely try it!! Ty!!!

Yep. Yep... Perfect. I agree and I appreciate the insight. @@NicNganga Y'all are weird. Y'all are really weird.
Aww you can tell Mikey wants to show off Christine so bad!
Raising Cane's freshness and quality is definitely top notch, but without the sauce, the chicken has almost no flavor at all. Just an extremely subtle salt and pepper flavor from the breading. A good chicken tender should be able to stand on it's own, and these fall short by a mile in flavor.
EXACTLY
I absolutely agree! I have had Raising Canes and it isn't anything special.
Raising cane is also just exclusively chicken tenders and nothing else. Just shows how americans have no palate lol
@@kennykwong1028 isn't tenders their whole concept? I've never been to canes but if you told me it chicken tenders only chain then I wouldn't expect to find Chicken tender curry lmao.
Raising Cane's has told the purpose of their tenders being "under seasoned" is they WANT you to dip it in the sauce. It's the whole point of their franchise. The sauce. If they mega season their tenders, and then you dip it in the sauce. It's going to severely overpower in flavors. I've had tenders from other places that taste great on their own, but you just GOTTA dip tenders. Otherwise, what are you doing? But the ones I've had that are mega seasoned, when I dip it in a sauce it's just too much seasoning. The flavors aren't balanced well. Raising Cane's honestly is on point with their flavor. They found a balance, and it works amazingly. Because again, if you're eating tenders, and not dipping them. What are you doing? lol
“Chik Fil A sauce has nothing on the Canes sauce.” Most accurate comment you’ve ever made on this channel. Canes is king.
Nah they the offbrand of chik-fil-a
Seeing your STL vids is just the best. I love Soup Dumpling STL! Our Chinatown isn't very exciting compared to like Houston but I'm just glad we have something. Thanks Christine for living here 😂
@Jackson lol unofficially. It's more like a street of Asian food spots. Nothing like other cities
@Jackson It is on Olive between Olivette and U city

Mikey mixing chick fil a and canes is so funny! He’s having a ball
Raising Cane’s honey mustard is BOMB!!! I highly recommend trying. Best tenders and dipping sauce out there.
You might also want to try Golden Chick (mainly in Texas). Really great tenders. They also do regular fried and roasted chicken on the bone, chicken salad, etc.
When Mikey tastes something not great:

When Mikey tastes something fantastic:
Looks angry and as if he wants to pick a fight 😆
It's the way he half-closes his eyes when he really likes what he's eating. Then, if it's a sandwich, he aggressively buries his face in it and gloms as much as he can stuff in his mouth.
Zaxby's imo would probably be a better competition against Raising Canes. Their known for there chicken tenders as well and thier signature sauce taste pretty similar to canes. On top of that zaxbys tenders can be covered in a variety of sauces. Chickfila is mostly known for thier chicken sandwiches which Zaxby's also has some pretty decent ones too (and some wings). It's a shame thre isn't a zaxbys in the west or that a lot of people haven't heard of them, honestlya good meal.
Agreed. Zaxby's is just like the Cane's place.
Zaxbys is an L
Zaxbys and canes both tried emulating Guthrie's
I was gonna say that this looks like Zaxbys. We don’t have Canes in Atlanta.
@@knievel8727 Yea there's only one raising canes in Ga😅.I traveled about 3 hours to try it in Athens.
Protip: Use the toast to clean the sauce off the lid.
Love the peach shake from Chick Fil A. I try to get that at least once each year when I see they are on the menu again. But then, I'm from Georgia, and love pretty much anything made with peaches. Never tried Raising Canes, unfortunately there aren't any in my area. I think we used to have one according to a websearch, but it shows permanently closed. We have Zaxby's instead, which serves only chicken tenders and wings with sides.
The Canes sauce is great but always feel free to mix items in like hot oil or in my case Cholula or Louisiana Hot Sauce. Then for a sandwich there, I put cole slaw on the toast, Canes sauce and tender on top… messy but good.
Is the sauce a spicy Mayo? I make some similar to outback’s blooming onion sauce that I use daily with chicken
@@donjoy33 The normal sauce is really not spicy, so hence adding the hot sauce. Maybe more of a ketchup mayo blend with other seasonings. Its flavourful but not spicy.
@@donjoy33 It's mostly mayo with some ketchup, worcestershire sauce and some seasonings. It's not really hot spicy more flavor spicy. Pretty easy to recreate too.
You know mike Chen loves the food when he starts adding an “h” after each “s” in his words. Delicioushish
My roommate's sister who works at Cane's wants you to know that the sauce is ketchup, mayonnaise, worcestershire, salt, pepper, and garlic pepper. Real easy to whip up at home if you don't have a Cane's near you and you're craving it.
What parts/measurements for each of the ingredients?
Which is nothing more than a slightly spicy fry sauce if you happen to live in UTAH.
The ideal for raising Cane came from an ideal African American lady had in a nightclub by LSU and the owner took the recipe and started raising canes the first one was located near LSU
So glad that you tried Cane's. Why do I always watch your channel and then want to get in my car for a food road trip ? Since Mikey can drive 90 minutes for a meal then why can't I ? :)
Please if you ever make it to the Cincinnati area you must stop at "Jungle Jim's" which is just north of the city. It's a grocery store like you have never seen before with fish swimming in tanks, the largest selection of hot sauces I have ever seen and every cheese made.

Totally agree with Mikey. The sauce at Cane's is really what defines their food. But without it, CFA takes the cake for sure.

Chic fil a sauce actually started where i live. The original restaurant still makes it fresh and tastes better then the packaged sauce. I remember when the chic fil a first put the sauce out for us to try before it even became widely available. I do wish we had a raising canes here tho the option for different is nice.
I might be biased as someone from Louisiana (where Canes originated), but Canes always wins imo. There’s not many places that can beat them. I always switch between two orders: sandwich on toast with sauce on the side, or box combo with no coleslaw and extra toast.
legit just got off work at the very first canes at 3:30 am and watched this. One Love baby!!!! Our sauce is Boss!!
The entire point of Raising Cane's is to dip everything in the sauce. The sauce is their star. :) That's why nothing is overly seasoned because the sauce balances it out. It tastes amazing.
Then why are the so stingy with the sauce 😂

also raising cane's is holy land; had it for the first time this past fall & was blown away
I never understood the hype about raising cane’s. I’ve tried it about 6 times at various locations and it did nothing for me. Best part of the meal was the toast.
We’re finishing building new Raising Cane’s here. Excited to try. It’ll be right between the one ChickFilA and a Popeyes.
We just had a Raising's Canes open up last summer near us but the lines are always soooooo crazy that we haven't tried it yet, lol.
The chicken tenders are produced by Tysons foods. They don't bread them but just get the tenders ready from the start to finish. What I mean from start is from the time the chickens are killed till the tenders are boxed. The reason I know is because I work at the factory that prepares them.
Look at that shiny gold band 💕. Congratulations to you and Christine! The chicken is definitely secondary here!!
When they were working together in Off the Great Wall UA-cam channel, Christine was dating his best friend Dan. Mike stole his best friend's girlfriend and married her ....bad on the two of them. When you're back in Allen, try LAYNE'S, rather than Cane's. Exact same concept, and a name that rhymes. Funny thing: Layne's has actually been around longer. 😃 (Layne's is on the southwest corner of McDermott and Central Expressway.)
Their sauce is alot peppery, so good!
DFW is the only place I've lived where people tell you which corner a business is at. And really, it's SO useful!
Chick fil a the peach shake is I-CONIC
Chic FilA needs better butter pickles. I always crave Chic FilA on Sundays!
if ur in south LA and have had tam's burgers at least once...we can agree that the cane's sauce taste exactly like tam's signature sauce just with more spices
One day I decided to try Raising Canes since they always have long lines and I was very surprised because there was nothing special about its chicken tenders and I was very puzzled by its popularity.
Same here. It isn’t bad but didn’t impress me very much. Especially their bland cole slaw and watery lemonade. The chicken was decent but ya nothing special IMO.
STL dumplings look so good! Just had hairy crab soup dumplings since they are in season-incredible!
