We moved to Green Bay in the ‘80’s and the first social event that we were invited to was a fish boil. We’d never heard of one but we were having a wonderful time when suddenly a man, screaming at the top of his lungs, ran through the crowd and flung a glass jar filled with liquid at the fire. The fire exploded, the pot lid flew 20’ in the air, the fish cauldron boiled over and everyone clapped and cheered. I looked at my husband and asked where the heck have we moved to?
Lol. Was the man naked when he did that? It sounds like something you do when butt naked and holding an accelerant that you’re going to aim a at blazing fire.

The really good fish boils are in Door County. Stop off in Green Bay in the summer for Booyah. It requires up to two days and multiple cooks to prepare; it is cooked in specially designed "booyah kettles" and usually meant to serve hundreds or even thousands of people.
While in PR you HAVE to go to the kiosks at Pinones and at Luquillo.Delicious authentic fried foods and awesome seafood. Make sure to get some Mofongo too (that's an obvious one I know). I'm from PR, looking so forward to the episode!

I almost cried when he said he was going to a bts concert and then Puerto Rico! 😅 You should definitely try the ice cream place in Lares. They have crazy flavors. Please try some frituras like alcapurrias and bacalaitos!

Yey!!!! Finally your coming to PR, mi isla bonita, and at the best time... Christmas. Your gonna love our lechón asado and you most definitely need to try out mofongos and street fried foods. Ohh I'm so happy. 🤗🤗
Puerto Rico! yes, finally!! You could go to the country side restaurants which are more "traditional" near the mountains, near the San Juan/ Carolina (Cities) there are a lot of Fried goodness and many plates with plantains involved that are amazing. (try the regular mofongo: fried mash plantain with garlic, salt & butter, and the "tri-fongo": the same as the mofongo but, with cassava/ yucca and sweet plantains in it as well). There's much more to love, besides the beaches, mountains, rivers and the people.
Mikey I’m from Wisconsin. That looks good but you have to try a Door County fish boil. I recommend White Gull Inn in Fish Creek Wisconsin. They use fresh caught whitefish from Lake Michigan.
Hearing ‘Genoa City’ brings back wonderful memories of “The Young & The Restless” (a soap I watched religiously as a teen, the characters lived there)..
I’ve been following you for years and now you are coming to Puerto Rico!! Try to go to GUAVATE it’s in the mountains in a city called Cayey. I know you like lechon so you will find lots of it over there. There’s practically “the route of lechon” (or pork highway) where there are many food stands. Plus you are coming on one of the best season so you will experience traditional Puertorican food.
OMG! You’re going to PR!! I definitely suggest the levain bakery in Aguadilla! Their sandwiches and pastries are SO GOOD! Sal de Mar is also such an amazing seafood restaurant there too!
I'm so excited you came to Wisconsin! I grew up in Milwaukee. We don't really do that in the city, but one summer I worked at a lodge in Door County, and we had a fish boil every weekend. It was so fun throwing the kerosene to boil the pot over. Ours was with potatoes, carrots, homemade tartar sauce, coleslaw and Door County cherry pie. Yum! I'm getting hungry thinking about it again.
If I ate that burrito with the Mac and cheese and the flamin hot Cheetos I’d be on the toilet for a week. Must be nice to have an cast iron stomach. That looked so good. Best burger in LA is the dude that sets up shop out of his truck. Does it right in a parking lot. I forget the location.
great video, nice to know that you came to Wisconsin to eat fish boil 😋, but the next time you come to Wisconsin, you should visit Green Bay my home town, have you tried Burger King in Green Bay...
OMG you are coming to PR !!! My husband is a huge fan of yours. You have to go to Guavate and hit that pork mile there are so many places there. You have to try chino- latino food I recommend you Prosperidad china in Carolina. There are so many places... Peko Peko, Shivo, La revolucion, El Boricua in Piñones, flor de harina, Bacoa, La manada V8. You have to try quesitos from a local bakery any bakery. You have to eat a tripleta too. Dont forget about Mayorcas and piña colada, gandinga and cuajitos. It will be christmas so you have to try a traditional plate completed with rice and pigeon peas, pork, pasteles, guineos en escabeche and blood sausage (morcilla) and COQUITO!!! Hope you have so much fun and welcome to my beautiful island. I cant wait to see your vlogs in PR.
Love watching your videos but I wish you'd come to San Diego more for your videos. We have LOTS of good foodie places to eat as well! Especially in our Clairemont (Convoy) area, etc...
Make sure to visit the Pork Highway in Guavate, Puerto Rico and if you visit the west coast of PR don't missed out on having some awesome seafood around Joyuda, Cabo Rojo and of course a visit to Piñones outside of San Juan is a most while you're there. Also try to stop by one of the traditional bakeries, I recommend Kasalta Bakery (where Obama had lunch years ago) and try a quesito pastry.
Not sure I'd ever eat boiled fish not in a soup but it does sound interesting...love seeing, learning, and trying new things. Thanks for showing us new things
@@citizennoble9231 I know, I meant I'd never consider eating just plain boiled fish unless it was in a soup especially in a restaurant. Well, I guess there is poached fish and fish papillote but generally not boiled fish. But after watching this, I'd consider trying it at a restaurant like this.

Don't most WI fish boils use lake fish and not Atlantic cod. Did not seem authentic although the process was the same.
@@morimech7976 it probably depends on proximity to the lake, but where I was from, it was straight whitefish out of lake Michigan

Thanks for showing us new things
if you watch the video it is not served as fish soup.
