I don’t know what it is about certain Future Islands songs but they just fill me with this overpowering feeling of nostalgia, excitement and melancholy which you can actually feel in your stomach. Such a powerful band who bring back memories.
Is it just me, or does he look just like a younger version of billy bob thornton in sling blade? I’m craving biscuits and mustard right now. Love the song, love the band.

Nice thing about sam is that his vocal delivery is often so clear you dont need the lyrics in front of you to understand what hes singing

Future Islands is one of the best bands in the last 20 years.
The body of work they've already put out is so insanely good. That and I can put certain individual songs on repeat and it never grows old. I hope one day I can catch a live show (in person).

@@mudstaind26 they literally do not have a weak song in their catalog. The first album is probably the weakest but starting with On The Water they have put out multiple masterpieces. Singles and the Far Field are two of the greatest synth/pop albums ever as far as I'm concerned.

He feels ever word. And i don't believe its an act. There is something in this deep for him. Once writing a song that was very close to my emotions i broke down. This reminds me of that moment. And there is nothing "weak" about digging deep into our emotional being. It's people who avoid it that i think are the intellectual cowards.
He comes from a small town by the ocean...my town too. Its extremely hard to live here and not feel...population less than 10k

My daughter introduced me to a song by a band named Kodaline- All I Want. She learned it on the guitar played and sang it for me....So many emotions brought tears. Maybe check it out. THEN....Theres Always Old Man by Neil Young... That Song ALWAYS tugs on the heart strings of All kids for their Fathers! ✌❤
Oh yeah....i wouldn't recommend watching the Kodaline Official video its a little weird and imo takes away from the actual beauty of the song
There's a band named Sensi Trails from Our same area. They're young but there Song- Just Living...i Listen almost every morning. Its truly hard to have a bad day after that song

Yes, a new future islands song is a thrill.
I know they'll likely never see this but this band has meant so much to me over the years and really got me through a lot. It's been so long since i started listening to them but their lyrics have recently just hit different. The words, the music, the voice, just brings a certain mixed feeling that no othet musician brings.

I saw Future Islands at The Green Man Festival UK some years ago; I have listened to their music everyday since. They are phenomenal; the world needs them! I suffered a life changing event some 3.5 years ago ... to this day their music is part of my journey and healing process. I am so grateful for your gifts.

Wow! This song really touched my soul. I'm sobbing like a baby.
This song is gonna save my life, I swear. I've broken down emotionally several times while listening to this. Having a very rough time in life, and it's this song and video, it's like Sam is telling me not to do something I'll regret. Keep rising....Keep rising.
I cant express enough my love of the band, I found out about them being a working poor individual working 12 hour shifts 6 days a week, and could only afford local, free t.v. at the time. And P.B.S. was my favorite station, and Austin City Limits came on, it it was my first time hearing of Future Islands. Even in my usual at home drunken stupor, (trying my best to get sober, this is the worst year to finally get serious, but I've been doing the best I ever have in regards to that. I'm determined, and that's the key, dont give up, giving it up.) I knew there was something magical about this band. Sam's live persona is what made me pay attention, just the sheer passion, you can tell he feels every..single..word..he sings. Then the poetry of the words, and the stripped down intimacy of the band with no guitarist, (I'm a guitarist myself, and thus love guitar forward music) but the sound, just sounds like someone's inner thoughts and feelings. I had a great time in my shitty apartment by myself, probably near poisoning drunk. And it stuck with me. I told my friends and family and some of them caught the vibe and let them into their own soul, and they understand, just like me, that this band is an almost religious experience. Its beauty, and passion, and pain, a perfect representation of the human experience.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing these guys a few times but my favorite would have to be at Outside Lands a few years ago when all my friends chose to see other acts during that slot. I parted ways towards the end of Hot Chip’s set and sprinted across the park, made my way to the front, and danced my ass off for an hour. Will always support the hell out of these guys, even if it’s dancing my ass off by myself, again, but now in front of a screen this October.

A couple of years ago I heard the song which is called '' Like the Moon'' and I fell in love with the band in that very moment and still I am a huge fan, and I believe they deserve much respect than this. They are making music, they are making art.
Your shows have given me some of my greatest memories. I can't wait until the album comes out, pre ordered for support!
