  • I attended a private concert entitled "Bella Notte” for the city of Ivins, Utah, in the Cox Performing Arts Center at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah.
The hall was packed with almost 1,200 people including myself.
There, my daughter Lisa, a Tony Award-winning, Grammy Award-nominated soprano and actress, sang a medley of songs arranged by Kurt Bestor from “Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Lisa performs songs sung by Christine, a chorus girl who has been trained to be an accomplished coloratura soprano by “the Phantom” who haunts a Paris opera house.
Lisa begins with Christine’s disturbing aria about how the Phantom controls her mind.
Next, Christine sings “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again,” a song of longing for her kind father who she wishes was still alive to guide her through her troubles.
Finally, the medley ends with “Think of Me,” a dazzling expression of Christine’s hope that while her dear friend Raoul is gone, he will think of her as much as she will be thinking of him.
