Who here can juggle?
Perhaps you've wanted to learn for a while and are now tempted to give it a go? 🤹♀
That's on my list of skills that I want to put in my pocket so hopefully this video will get me motivated to finally juggle.
I learnt in my 40's, can only do the normal 3 balls though, it took me about a week, practicing a few times each day
I'm dyslexic and autistic. Juggling provides "focus". I learned in my 20's and still juggle now in my 50's - and I'm glad to see you back - and looking forward to what the heck you've been up to! 🙂
47 here, never tried it. I'll give it a go. Ill start now Nov 2, 2022. I'll report back when I hit the 30 second mark.
When the going gets tough, just keep going. That’s what I need to remind myself when I’m trying new things
Thanks!
This is such a fun video to watch. It's interesting because it's about what it takes to learn something new, but it's also fun because of the way it's filmed.
And juggling seems like a fun trick
Very nice! I have been juggling for a long time and I can remember my excitement when I first ‘ran’ 3 balls. 45 years later the thrill is still there when I learn a new pattern. Nice video
Thank you for showing the mistakes, & the frustration. Everyone else tells you can master the skill in 5 minutes. Its motivating to see a real person succeed
Loved your perseverance. I laughed out loud when you were cursing, then cheered out loud when you achieved your goal! 😄 Well, done! 👍🏻❤️
thank you so much for this video! it's so refreshing and motivating to see the emotions associated with the different steps of the learning process!!
Yeah ! Good job. Next up riding the unicycle and juggling at the same time..😁😁🤹♀
oh crumbs... I expect you won't be the first to suggest that 🤪
@@LauraTryUK Just trying to be helpful😁
I love how casually you mention motivational circus trousers like this is something that everyone owns 😂
Great to have you back!
Is this not the case?? 🎪 👖
We should, get some `hippy` or harem trousers, so comfy and fun! :)
omg laura what happen to you ...?,,!!! its been a long time dont coming here ..we missed you ''''''glad to see you again ....💞💖💕❤🩹....have a nice week love❤❤❤❤🔥
I would love to learn to juggle! I've got the balls I just need the spark! I think you've given it to me! You're brilliant LT 👏
Give it a try Ben and let me know how you get on 🤹♀
Was it a case of paralysis by over analysis? Once you relax and don’t overthink it, it comes? I’d love to try it 🤔 It does look very impressive and by the looks of your next challenge, the unicycle, a job awaits you in the circus! 🤡❤
Hey Big T. I love juggling, it's almost a form of meditation when your brain switches off and you get into the flow.
Also remember when you're learning new skills, "comparison is the thief of joy".
WORD!
Lovely to see you back Laura!
So nice to watch your funny quirky keep on trying videos again
Missed your colourful clothes, personality and positivity the most
It's so interesting when you learn something unexpected
Great effort too Charlie! 😺
Wooow, is soo cool to see that you mentioned some of the creators that I admire the most. Mike Boyd, Mike Shake and Unlazyway. Plus now you're definitely on my list of favorite creators to follow and get inspired by.
Those guys are top of my list 🥇
And thank you!!!!!!!
I had full faith and confidence that you would dominate this as well, Laura!
Well done!
Thank you! If it wasn't for this video I would have given up for sure.
@@LauraTryUK if it weren't for the atmosphere, we'd surely all burn, freeze or suffocate. However... here we all are, basking in the beauty and tenacity of YOU (regardless of the reason). ;-)
Very happy to find you did a video on juggling. I've decided to learn juggling to help with hand / eye coordination as I learn to box. I saw Alexander Uysk use juggling as part of his training regime. I'm in my 40's so anything to give me an edge when sparring someone half my age lol.
I LOVE your attitude Laura. You are a real inspiration. I laughed out loud in this one - you are so honest - it is such a breath of fresh air.
I am so pleased you enjoyed this video BRNZ, your comment made me very happy 😀
I am pleased it made you laugh too!
Loved the of the bed bounce and catch @4.00. Juggling is so much fun, it teaches us so much about ourselves. That juggling at the end was so good 🎉🎉🎉
I will try this once the cold grip of winter hits here in Minnesota.
Woohoo! Well done.🎉 And thanks so much for the video. I'm at the two ball stage and watching you get there is really motivational
Thank you I'm learning to juggle & just got to the stage you were at - getting bits of it but not fluent. It took me 3 solid weeks to get to even that stage! You're video is very real and inspiring, some of us take weeks and many many hours rather than a day or two!
Everyone learns at different speeds, you are awesome for showing us! I do think juggling is an excellent therapy for all ages.
Welcome back - and well done! 🎉
I found your channel after watching Beau Miles and have enjoyed several of your videos already. I also watch Mike Boyd. I appreciate that you credit and reference other UA-camrs. That's such a cool thing to do.
I love Mike Boyd'd channel. And Beau Miles! such clever guys!
Well done, for not stopping and keep on trying
Nice to have you back, LT! Now I can sit here vicariously doing all that self-improvement stuff I would be doing for real if I didn't have youtube to keep me busy.
this comment did make me laugh 😂
Interesting lecture on the maths of juggling by Matt Parker - I saw it live.
Lovely to see you back, LT.
Well done 😎
The lecture is on YT?
@@LauraTryUK I have mis-attributed it! Matt Parker was the other half of the 'lecture'. The juggling was Colin Wright. Here's him in action... ua-cam.com/video/GNKFSpJIBO0/v-deo.html
On this - saved to watch later and will do later when stretching 👍
How fun and motivating to see you do this. I decided to learn at the beginning of the pandemic, and made my own juggling balls. I guess the trick is consistent practice.... I still haven't gotten it. But I'll give it another go now!
so happy to see a video from you! They always brighten my day. I feel like things click when we stop caring as much & we just get in the zone.
cool! I always love seeing channels about people who love to learn new things.
I'm pleased you like these kind of vids - we've got to keep learning, ah?
Nice to see you are doing Good! Much Love from the Philippines.
Aw this is amazing! I need some motivational circus trousers! Just started trying to learn to juggle a few days ago, very slow so far but enjoying it :) great video
Ive just started to study juggling today Tuesday July 30th 2024 thank you so much ❤
I used the same video, It took me three days of consistent practice to reach 20 seconds of continuous juggling, then after I reached my goal I was basically able to juggle indefinitely. Good luck on your journey!
😂😂😂😂 brilliant well done! Dang girl your break has done you well! So fresh and so clean 💗
I'm watching this on my quest to learn to juggle. Can't seem to stop chucking them at my own head but I'll keep persevering! This was just what I needed to see, I'll report back when I get there!
Keep going! You will get there! 💪
LT Congrats, that was awesome! You're inspirational
I'm pleased you liked it Sonté 😀
@@LauraTryUK I'm a Hall of Fame university athlete. I train/coach athletes & I have learned so much from your UA-cam channel. Thank you so much for the reply! 🤗 Happy Holidays🎅☃🎄
congrats laura!
Good on ya for setting the goal, persisting reflecting and documenting.
As I see it,
it is about mindfulness, once you loose concentration, and other thoughts come along,.
Then the balls fall.
I started off watching your 7 day fasting video and now I'm on juggling. Since yesterday I managed to fast 21 hours. I will never attempt 7 days or even 5, but I enjoyed watching you do it. I think a 3 day one would be doable for me and hopefully would reset my digestive issues. Your challenges are inspirational. -Something I find when learning something new is that in the first few days or weeks, our brains become saturated with new information to the point where we don't know what we're doing anymore and often do everything all wrong. It can be frustrating to the point of tears, and that's when I allow myself to "give up", so I might go a day or two without doing "the thing". Then, when I come back to it, it's like my brain has assimilated everything and I have reached a new level. I find this is applicable to everything I have ever attempted to learn.
I like your words a lot C SM, and I am finding the same with the saturated brain, then working it out. Pleased it's not just me 😀
Hi Laura ! I mean this can be considered as a kind of anti-stress therapy . In my case I'm learning how to keep and improve my balance on 1 wheel scooter to beat the Parisian traffic one day . Greetings from Paris 🗼
A one wheel scooter??? How are you doing? it is that thing actually called a One Wheel?
In the early 90s there was a well known paper in the journal Nature that showed that learning to juggle actually increases the size of your brain. Of course learning other activities will have the same effect, but it led to a craze in juggling in the UK. Juggling shops and clubs popped up in many towns. However, by the mid 90s there were so many good jugglers that beginners probably felt that learning 3 wasn't a very impressive skill and the craze ended. However, there were a few people like myself who continued in an effort to try to master the limitless possibilities regardless of how long it took.
Started learning to juggle, nice to know it's not as simple as a few hours to master it
5:23 is the reason you stuck with it. Great job. Super fun to watch.
I’m 56 , bought a spin bike, Giboard, and juggled some socks. Ready to buy some balls! lol I love your videos!
You actually made that look alot easier than i thought it would be lol
you didn't see all the footage......... 10 hours of it!
Amazing... It must have felt great to hit that 30 secondes Bell 😁😁😁😁👍👍👍.
so so so so so so so so so so so good!!!! 😆
😀💕xx very well done Laura. That was such a fun video! But you obviously had to really persevere to achieve your goal.
That was great to watch! I recommend continuing with rings and then maybe clubs!!
that was the plan before learning, but now I am not sure 😂
But I am continuing to practice and learning some new tricks.
Awesome, well done. 😁
Excellent. I learnt 3 balls in one afternoon when I was about 13 then barely juggled for over 20 years. Started again recently and 4 balls took me about 10 days to get 50 catches...just starting to learn 5 now..but 5 is so hard that I feel crap again😅
Yessss! It s brain exercise and a meditation technique 🎉
I´ve been thinking about your channel few days back. And Voilà, here we go :D good on you Laura. Always love your vids!
It’s never too old to learn something.
Fantastic! Next: Juggle 2 Balls PLUS Charlie, while Charlie juggles as well!!! Congratulations 👏 LT!!!
Now there's a video Susan!
Charlie is on my lap now, I told him about your idea and he loves it 😆
you did it!!! awesome!!!
🎉Congratulations 😄🎉
Great video, learning to juggle can be frustrating! We have all been there, but what a great feeling when you finally crack it :)
what a great feeling! Now to get that feeling with the unicycle 😆
Top tip: When i taught myself to juggle, i stood over my bed so that when i dropped the balls i didn't have to keep bending down to pick them up off the floor!!
you're so nice , well done!
Well done friend,, brilliant. .......
Yes i can juggle, haven't done it for a while though not sure if I can juggle for 30 seconds wil give it a go. You have inspired me to go & juggle. Thank you :)
You are so awesome 🎉
Yay!!! 🌟🌟🌟
Juggling is a strange one, as a lot of the fine motor skills required to juggle are often learned young (if you are lucky enough to have had an upbringing that supports more complex cognitive motor skills). However, once you get it, you aren't necessarily better suited than others to progress faster, as the learned motor skills are so far outside of what we normally experience that it puts everyone on an even field. If you have the bug, and you enjoy progressing, that is far more valuable than any other 'natural talent'. The power of practice is real, the power of enjoyment is even more powerful. Keep at it, get that 3 balls, and hopefully, you'll ride that wave of progression much further down the juggling rabbit hole.
You are interesting. Thanks for sharing! 😊🌹
Cheers David, my pleasure, thanks for the comment 🙏🏼
Road to 100k!
Guess I've thought about learning to juggle for many decades now - just never sat down (or stood) to really try.
Old friend of mine juggles which is why I've thought about it from time to time - he also coincidentally rides a unicycle :)
Took part in a "world" unicycle basketball championship maybe 20 years ago when he was tripping around Europe.
Managed to somehow did up enough unicycling ex-pat's to make up the official Australian team.
This unicycling story is killing me 😂 As if that is a thing Frankie! I'm struggling to even move along a few metres, let alone hold a basketball 😂
Aah, I've been wanting to get some soft balls to learn to juggle with! Now You've motivated me more to get them and start learning 🥰 (I'm 51, this could take some time...😆)
I hope you do better than I did - it took me aaaages, but I'm not very good with things like that.
Hello again! ❤
A book I read by that Dave Finnigan guy said it would take about a month.... and it did (FYI practice after that even if you think you are through, a couple of times a year. If you try to start cold 5/10/15 years down the road its almost like starting from scratch)
looks like you're filming back at your mother's house, good to see that, I can tell by the closet door with the cut corner on the top, but where was your mother ? like her in the videos too :)
She was downstairs complaining about the noise of me dropping the balls 😂
Id love to see you try unresponsive yoyo or Spintop/trompo
I’ve juggled for forty years. It’s not easy. I tought myself at 16. Always fun
As someone who also wanted to learn how to juggle... and did. I could tell the difference between 7 days and 9 days for you. You were less tense when on day 9 compared to day 7.
totally! I saw this when I watched the footage back in the edit.
Life lessons 😀
I started learning a week ago, and my personal best is 95 catches achieved on my 6th day.
Nice job 😁😂
I've just watched you 30 day yoga video and it was inspiring! But I cant help saying that you look just like a very famous brazilian presenter called Xuxa when she was younger :)
I googled her and that is a very nice thing to say, thank you.
Yay!🎉👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You are the number one juggler, all l need now is one extra ball and l will have a go.🍸🐿🐿
How funny, i wanted to learn juggling too ^_^. I challenge you to learn the abacus
Here's a video idea for you - have you ever thought about learning to fly an FPV drone? (And did you know that only a very small number of women do it?) They are GREAT for videos - but actually difficult to learn. I'd be happy to try to coach you virtually and I could put you in touch with some pilots in the UK!
Hey, I like this idea. Maybe not any time soon as I have some other things I want to try first but would love to try FPV.
I can fly a drone and also have one of those quadcopter things which I tend to crash into the ceiling and wall a lot 😂
Thank you for the offer. Hopefully we can speak in the future about this plan.
I've bought a set few years ago. Did it for a week and almost smashed a window because I was so angry. You've motivated me to go to the basement and find the damn balls! 😅
Oooh! Can relate about smashing the window 😂😂😂 I got sooooo frustrated!
This video is soooo cute 😂
I don't know why but I learnt how to say baa baa black sheep backwards about 30 years ago. Sheep black baa baa ,wool any you have 🤨❤
I came for the GREAT accent and stayed for the lessons.
Pro tip: juggling 5! Yes 5! Is the exact same as juggling 3. It seems impossibly fast at first but it’s the same cascade. Just need accurate arches. Accurate throws.
People that can juggle 3, can juggle.
People that can juggle 5 are jugglers.
Also: much study has been done on three ball juggling. Because it uses left and right brain in a rhythm, it balances and increases the transfer of information and coherence between them. IQ tests performed before and after have shown over a 10% increase post juggling. It’s meditative and calming and sharpens the mind.
Congrats. On a related subject. I’d love to see you ‘try’ some of the bigger normal fears. Not extreme fear factor madness but ….more social stuff like ordering in a language not your own, public speaking or stand up comedy. Applying and interviewing for jobs you are completely unqualified for! Lol
That was so satisfying! I pumped my fist in the air. I'm hoping to get there myself! I'll keep trying in the meantime.
congratulations
This is me trying to juggle the monthly family finances ....... balls everywhere.
Well done you 🎉😂
Thank you! 🤹♀️
Your welcome
I’m learning to juggle it’s so hard
I started juggling 5 weeks ago with selfmade balls, then I bought me good ones 3 weeks ago and tried another 6 hours with the new ones.
And now, after 2.5 half weeks 'in ' (the goal of 30secs) .... I already can approximately 8 tricks..
Cascade and Reverse, tennis and something simimar, halfshower, 2 balls 1 hand (round and straight), burkes sth .. and windmill
If I knew that 4 weeks ago when I thought I am so untalented .. I would have enjoyed every fail and win even more because these uncoordinated but funny times of balls going everywhere and further are over
I’m still on the basic juggle so your comment has inspired me to progress 🤹🏼♀️
Great, now I want to learn juggling too :)
super cool! let me know how you get on!
@@LauraTryUK of course
Lovely skill to have ; )
Tandem juggling next time I visit? 😜
My sister ❤
I've been juggling two balls for years. I never took the time or put the effort into mastering three 😅
I think now is the time Jenise 😀
Next challenge juggling on a unicycle??
Congratulations!
Have you checked out any youtube tutorials by Taylor Tries? She is an excellent instructor.
Sorry, not to burst your bubble. But me, my brother and my cousin all learned to juggle one night at my grandma's. Maybe 1-2 hours and we got it. We learned with pool balls or billiard balls. I've since gone on to learn many more forms of juggling, the most balls I could do was 4, never quite understood how to do 5, although doing 4 is quite different than 3 and 5.
Ooooh! Bubble totally burst 😂😂😂
Im learning to juggle right now and i figured that some people take very short to learn but some people take very long. I am a pretty slow learner so its taking forever to get it, ive been going for like weeks to learn and like 1-3 hours of practice a day, do you have any tips?
