Yep, have both. Love my 1911, but the Glock has never missed a beat and if you have a model 21 or 41, you have 13 rounds of 45 ACP and both are easy to gripp. The trigger is DA only and to me, adds some built in safety. You don't have to hate the Glock to appreciate the beauty of a 1911.
They both have their places. The whole Glock vs. 1911 is sometimes wack because I feel people want to say one’s trash. You can have preference while still admiring the other is a very well made handgun and there is a place for it.

In terms of reliability, high & long time rate fire capacity, easy to use, good conceal carry charector, low Recoil, hold 17 rounds of ammo, fire large quantity rounds of ammo.....etc etc, So because of these extraordinary qualities...i would prefer to choose Glock any day rather than choosing a 1911. Glock is my winner.
I love a 1911, none better. But I carried a Glock 19 for nearly 20 years out of my 30 as a police officer. It is strictly a utility weapon, it’s not meant to be pretty, slick, or stylish. Mine never failed on the range or on the streets. It’s just a dependable tool. I’ve been retired now for 15 years, still carry that same Glock. But I love my 1911s.

As a retired LE with 22 yrs of service, all I carried was a Glock because they were cheap, we beat the living tar out of them in training, and not once did it ever let me down. Tough little bastard. Meanwhile the touchy 1911's were stove-piping, double feeding, and needed to be meticulously cleaned every 100 or so rounds to avoid malfunctions. But yeah, they look cool.

The 1911 probably never actually saw combat, and he forgot to mention the audible reset trigger in the Glock that allows for fast, accurate follow-up shots and makes the gun a joy to shoot. As well as being more comfortable to carry for practical use in daily suburban life, the Glock is the way to go. I'm not going to war. I'm going to Walmart.

A massive misconception is the US just kinda was watching from the sidelines, until the tail end, when in all actuality, without the munitions, resources, and foodstuffs provided in the opening months to the Allies from the US stopped the war from being the war that would be over by Christmas that the Germans thought it was going to be. I own few of both and both are beautiful in their own respective way. 1911 is a piece of art, has a history that preceded it, beautiful and solid. Glocks are modern, practical, reliable and hold more than double of ammunition. Why to choose between them when I can have both!.
That’s kind of what I’d say. Although the Glock, aesthetically speaking, is a bit more “Lego” and robotic, it still works and nothing cycles faster, and you can usually pick one up for less than $1k. I love M1911’s, but I don’t hate Glocks, that’s silly, in fact, all the haters here can kiss my nice phat pro-gun Canadian a$$. He had to make sure his Glock needed lube and the magazine had a defect. Anyone who runs down the other product really can’t be trusted.
@grahambrown1980 the magazine didn't have a defect , it's plastic just like most the glock is plastic, its insane to expect cheap recycled bottle plastic to do well, the average glock explodes before 1000 rounds have been fired through it because the plastic becomes more brittle with every shot
I own a first Gen Glock 23 and a 1911A1 clone and I can say the Glock may not be pretty or fancy but it works damn well and I’ve never had an issue with it as a EDC

Speaking as someone who owns both, here’s my take on this argument: 1) The 1911 has multiple safety features, a sleek design (for easy CCW) and effective stopping power with the .45 acp. However, it’s heavy, because it’s an all Steel pistol and has limited round capacity (8rds). Personal note: I usually carry 3 spare magazines, when I CCW my 1911. The Glock on the other hand is lightweight and has a 17 round capacity (I usually carry 1 spare magazine, when I CCW carry mine, currently considering carrying 2). The only downsides are are the hair trigger and the 9mm round isn’t as effective as the .45 acp round. For me, which one that I choose to carry depends on the following factors: 1) The Season (in terms of weather) at the time and 2) Where I’m going at the time ( to my local market, on a Road trip, to “The Hood,” etc.).
What 1911 are you using that jams? Only issue I've had was that one of the Kimber magazines I bought had the metal follower getting stuck towards the top of it. Took it apart and sanded it down on both sides then I polished it. Problem solved. I've heard that hollow points can get hung up on the feed ramps in some of them, but a quick polishing eliminates that as well.
I like the look of a baretta M92FS, but i wish i could find one chambered in .45. Not that i hate on 9mm, its a reliable round and its all you need for self defense. I just like .45 because its fun to shoot at my home range.
I have a 92D. Double action only, no safety, recessed hammer and fixed combat sights. I can throw it down the stairs, hammer nails with it and still put 16 rounds in the black.
My first gun was a Colt 45 with a compensator, love that weapon, i put it through so much, shot it in heavy rain, dust storms, high winds, cold winter's and even shot more than two thousand rounds and never changed or did anything to it. Still holds on till this day.

I have been shooting Glocks for over 5 years now and I have never had magazine issues. I can load 17 rounds into a Glock 17 mag and it will work perfectly.

I love a 1911, none better. But I carried a Glock 19 for nearly 20 years out of my 30 as a police officer. It is strictly a utility weapon, it’s not meant to be pretty, slick, or stylish. Mine never failed on the range or on the streets. It’s just a dependable tool. I’ve been retired now for 15 years, still carry that same Glock. But I love my 1911s.

I like the Glock simply for its reliability and mag capacity. And it’s easier to CCW. I learned to shoot and maintain on a 1911 when I was 12. If I had to choose only one, I would choose a 1911.

As a retired LE with 22 yrs of service, all I carried was a Glock because they were cheap, we beat the living tar out of them in training, and not once did it ever let me down. Tough little bastard. Meanwhile the touchy 1911's were stove-piping, double feeding, and needed to be meticulously cleaned every 100 or so rounds to avoid malfunctions. But yeah, they look cool.

The 1911 probably never actually saw combat, and he forgot to mention the audible reset trigger in the Glock that allows for fast, accurate follow-up shots and makes the gun a joy to shoot. As well as being more comfortable to carry for practical use in daily suburban life, the Glock is the way to go. I'm not going to war. I'm going to Walmart.

That’s kind of what I’d say. Although the Glock, aesthetically speaking, is a bit more “Lego” and robotic, it still works and nothing cycles faster, and you can usually pick one up for less than $1k.

Glocks are mostly plastic and are considered good to not blow up in your hand after 1000 shots. I'll take my 99% metal guns over plastic toy guns
@grahambrown1980 the magazine didn't have a defect , it's plastic just like most the glock is plastic, its insane to expect cheap recycled bottle plastic to do well, the average glock explodes before 1000 rounds have been fired through it because the plastic becomes more brittle with every shot
I own a first Gen Glock 23 and a 1911A1 clone and I can say the Glock may not be pretty or fancy but it works damn well and I’ve never had an issue with it as a EDC

Speaking as someone who owns both, here’s my take on this argument: 1) The 1911 has multiple safety features, a sleek design (for easy CCW) and effective stopping power with the .45 acp. However, it’s heavy, because it’s an all Steel pistol and has limited round capacity (8rds). Personal note: I usually carry 3 spare magazines, when I CCW my 1911. The Glock on the other hand is lightweight and has a 17 round capacity (I usually carry 1 spare magazine, when I CCW carry mine, currently considering carrying 2). The only downsides are are the hair trigger and the 9mm round isn’t as effective as the .45 acp round. For me, which one that I choose to carry depends on the following factors: 1) The Season (in terms of weather) at the time and 2) Where I’m going at the time ( to my local market, on a Road trip, to “The Hood,” etc.).

What 1911 are you using that jams? Only issue I've had was that one of the Kimber magazines I bought had the metal follower getting stuck towards the top of it. Took it apart and sanded it down on both sides then I polished it. Problem solved. I've heard that hollow points can get hung up on the feed ramps in some of them, but a quick polishing eliminates that as well.

I have a 92D. Double action only, no safety, recessed hammer and fixed combat sights. I can throw it down the stairs, hammer nails with it and still put 16 rounds in the black.
My first gun was a Colt 45 with a compensator, love that weapon, i put it through so much, shot it in heavy rain, dust storms, high winds, cold winter's and even shot more than two thousand rounds and never changed or did anything to it. Still holds on till this day.

I have been shooting Glocks for over 5 years now and I have never had magazine issues. I can load 17 rounds into a Glock 17 mag and it will work perfectly.

I really love how these ppl never shot anyone or been in firefight and rave about which is best for such situations. I think if you get to know your tools, practice and take care of them you'll be fine
