Great tips! You've covered most of the possible problems with class and etiquette hahaha. Main problem I find is many of us are guilty of leaving the preparation till the last minute and finding out that we're missing lots of things. Enjoy your holiday bro!
Hey bud I just started using the sunsun 3000 you should look into it you can add a sponge to the intake tube to reduce clogging this machine is a freaking power house if you do get it leave the uv light off and only turn on occasionally like at the end of the month for a few hours
does the autofeeder work for my 10L Fluval Spec tank with 1 betta fish in it? i noticed in some videos that the autofeeder releases too much food into the water...
If you are gonna put a secondary filter it’s better to put it in a week before so it can have a good amount of beneficial bacteria and won’t ruin the water chemistry
Thank you for this video, just nice it coincides with my vacation on 20th-21st June and you got me thinking on how I should prep my tank before I fly off. The automatic feeders is really a good suggestion. Any brands that you would recommend? I'm thinking whether to feed my fishes a heavier meal before flying off and not feeding them while I'm away so that I do not have to burden my family, or to just get an auto feeder.
What fishes are currently in your tank? If you can feed on the 20th and 24th itself I would think you'll be better off kot feeding while you are away but again, depends on what fishes you keep and if they are all healthy now. I'm currently using the brand Resun. Works well so far but I just got it. Some things to take consider when buying auto feeders are whats the power source (personal preference), how long it can last (food storage and battery), settings (frequency etc). Feeding heavily works but I'll caution against doing it right before. Maybe fatten them up a little from now till your last big water change. Then feed normal until you leave.
Something I've considered. Tbh it has never happened before. Only time I've lost fish to the Tom is when adding them in, not so for established ones. So I think I'll leave her in. And thanks! 😁
What fish are you keeping? Most fish can go weeks without food. In the wild they dont get to eat everyday. If it's a 3 day vacation I'll just not feed them and have a peace of mind. It eliminates the risk of over feeding/ammonia problems.
If theyre all healthy at the moment and well fed, they'll be just fine without food for 3 days so i highly recommend not feeding. Wont need to worry at all.
Oh yes. Having lights on at night is a NO-NO. It has to be conpletely dark at night or close to. The moment the turtle can see things properly, the fishes are gone. I never ever turn my tank light on at night (after i already turn it off and the fishes went to sleep). And not even the lights of the room/area. I guess this community cannot work out in a bedroom.
It's largely genetics. Given that it has the genetics, ensure the flowerhorn is not stressed, water is clean and food quality is good with sufficient protein and colour enhancing ingredients (for red typically things like krill, astaxanthin).
Dhiraj Dhiraj Feed them good food colors will pop make him feel dominate put a mirror in there for 30 mins and let him fight it for 30 mins and remove mirror he will feel more dominant and will start popping do it weekly when he thinks he killed another flowerhorn it makes me feel more dominate and stronger
Removed him in the quarantine tank long ago. Used the quarantine tank to quanratine another fish I had just bought. Was scares the green terror might eat it so i fed A LOT. Woke up one day and he was no longer. Probably ammonia spike.
I just don't update everything that happens. Of course now that there are a group of people folowing my journey, I update more so than previously because I know people like the tank/fishes and want to know whats going on. Even then I don't update everything and I avoid making consecutive videos of any 1 type of video. My focus had to be a balance between my time, content that grows the channel and content for existing viewers. Constant updates on my tank are always for my existing viewers and it doesnt really welcome new viewers to the channel. It was also a period where changes were constantly happening with my tank and I could neither keep up with updating everything nor did I want this channel to be about my tank only. I had a lot of other content to film and edit (aka the following videos) while juggling school and life. I neither wanted this channel to be solely about me vlogging about my own tank nor did I have the time to make multiple videos a week and keep up with all the tank changes. So if you noticed there was quite a period my tank received very few updates. It wasnt that nothing was happening. In fact, too many changes were happening that I couldnt give an update without explaining all the updates. So when I finally did update, I just continued where I left off instead of creating a long video of me talking about things that happened. If you notice I don't do dedicated video updates on my tank anymore. Instead I usually weave the updates in videos of a bigger topic. I appreciate your interest in my tank and fishes. And now that ive found a formula to constantly update without making this channel just about my tank and that my tank has stabilized with few changes and that I have a lot more time on my hands (for this period at least), I will make it a point to keep viewers updates best I can.
SG Bearded Aquarist I’m already stressed about my water changes when I go to Hawaii for the week and ur going for 2 week I so worried about leaving my discus tank all my kids know how to do is feed them but I will do a water change before I leave in July
Your turtle has no resting place, swimming all the time, even superman needs to rest. Turtle motion is harmful to other fishes, just like ducks and swans poo is harmful to kois. Suggest you go on a 2 weeks trial before you leave for vocation. And your sandbed will accumulate waste from leftovers food and poo. Isn't it better to no sand at the bottom of your tank, I saw a flowerhorn in your tank. Anyway hobbyist with expensive Arowanas, do they take the risk of going holidays or stay home, thks for reading my long message. Cheers buddy.
Everyone lived through that holiday 1 year+ ago just fine. Turtle has a basking area above the tank with light providing uvb and heat. Everyone's shit is harmful to everyone, nothing to do with turtle, swan, koi, dog or human - that's why it's about adequate filtration and nutrient export via plant uptake and water changes. Trial was done before. Sand is not harmful unless you are an inexperience hobbyist then everything is potentially harmful including no sandbed where beneficial bacteria can colonize. Or a sand bed that can trap waste. Everything is harmful if you dont know what you're doing. The idea of following what others do simply because they are more experience is what leads to a lack of knowledge transfer amongst hobbyists (instead only tradition and habit transfer) and this is where all the problems, false information and stigmas arise (e.g. cannot keep flowerhorn with other fish, cannot keep plants with arowana, cannot keep turtle with fish, xx gallon tank must have xx amount of filtration, etcetcetc). These are all true in some, many or most cases. But they are contingent on several factors and are not a be all and end all rule to dictate the way living things and biochemistry works.

Is there a device for water level maintainer during vacation.?
Where did you buy the auto feeder ??
You should get an angelfish and love your video
I think itll be nice. However its likely to be attacked by both Tom and Thanos.
Have a safe journey brother
Thank you brother! 😁

I think turle and aquarium fish don't mix, unless is a gulper catfish, just joking
U are a funny fella
Place rations in different bags and tell them to pour all the fish food in
Great way to avoid overfeeding if we dont wish to get an autofeeder :)

What about gold fish
Be on the safer side for 2 weeks should put the turtle somewhere else
I actually considered that but in terms of care and filtration, my tank does is the best place for Tom the turtle.
