Always been sacred to try but honestly the Mauser is built like a tank, 3 massive locking lugs makes me so happy 😂. Safest and most overbuilt bolt action I’ve ever come across
@kyfirearms I want to start loading for an m48A, I'm interested in hunting and long range ammo. Is there any advice ypu can give on what components to use and what equipment to buy?
@@timjr260 You could buy the Basic RCBS reloader kit and for hunting with the 8mmx57 the Barns 185 grain TSX turns this cartridge into a new beast killer. Between 165 grain and 185 grain Barns TSX 8mm is great for deer to Elk . Powders like Varget - 4350 work well for the 8 mm x57
@@b3914eoyprrtoywcdjif 100% worth it. After using the hand press, you're gonna absolutely love it. Couple tiny things to look out for as you use it: -the base of the ram has a tiny allen key that locates and locks a cross bolt through the ram, level block, and connecting rods. Every 1000-2000 lever throws, make sure its tightened down. Every hinge point and the ram itself loves lubrication (of course), and that makes the allen head at the very base of the ram loosen up. If that happens, the cross bolt can drift and bite into the connecting rods if you are a monkey brain like me and try to muscle through resistance. -"turret tilt" is real. But at least on this Lyman, it's consistent and a tiny flex just from being steel and cast iron so it's really a non-issue. If for some reason you notice the turret tilt too much (read: holy shit the turret is sideways) grab a big ass screw driver, slide it through the main turret bolt on the top (big hole through it) and muscle it a quarter turn to the right and adjust as needed. I have never had to adjust this over about 250k+ lever throws and countless turret spins, but I've heard a couple people have. Easy fix if need be. End of the day, buy with confidence and enjoy!
Thanks. Crimping is not really necessary for bolt guns. I crimp everything. I feel like it gives me better powder burn and standard deviations, but it may hurt accuracy somewhat.
Is it modern day version? A few more grains of gunpowder will be fine! You start putting half extra grains? “ Here’s a little tip” wrapping piano wire around the barrel will stop it exploding in front of you! Obviously bigger barrels with more metal will perform better! Box cleverly and wear gloves and a vest! And neck and face protection! M🔥👍
Well, it just depends. Could cost upwards of 400.00 for everything shown. You could definitely get by with less and be just fine. Thanks for the comment 👍
I was loading these in 1/2 grain increments. If you add too much powder it would be over pressured and could damage the rifle. Thanks for the comment 👍.
You *can* reload steel if it is berdan primed, but it's a huge pain in the ass. However, if it's say, more recent wolf/tula .223/5.56 and they are in fact boxer primed (only one hole for primer fire to enter case, and anvil in the primer), then it is actually possible to get 2-5 or maybe even more reloads out of steel. With brass, as long as you anneal the necks (heat the necks up in a controlled manner to about 700 ish degrees, and *NOT THE WHOLE CASE)* then you can get dozens of reloads out of a single brass case.
That's known as crimping. You put just a tiny bit of tension, known as a crimp, around the top of the neck so the bullet isn't sitting too loose in the case. You ideally want as little as possible so you don't squeeze the bullet. That can result in pressure spikes and/or deformation if the bullet. But too little, and you might chamber the round, and that action could push the bullet too far back into the case (known as setback), also causing a pressure spike which could ultimately make the gun explode.

Yes it is. Model 98 action is the best. Thanks for the comment. 👍

Yep. They are mine as well. 👍👍
Please explain why in a 5 paragraph essay, with both a intro and conclusion paragraph
Hell yeah! I have the exact same priming/press setup! Great choices, my guy. Been beginning to think I was the only one lol.
Thanks. It's a great setup and works well for. I appreciate the comment.
I was just looking at that Lyman press to upgrade from my Lee handpress. How do you like it?

Yes! You should full length size new brass!
Yes, I always do. Thanks 👍
And a Barrel shroud is a good idea! All the best! 🔥👍
Box headed your way! ❤❤
Awesome. Thank you 👍👍
I got it. Very generous. Thank you so much. 👍👍
@@kyfirearms Your welcome!
I look for ward to the videos!!
Look into some inline fabrication wall mount rails, and get the riser with the articulating arms,
Idk why this video butters my biscuit.
Can you tell me your opinion on crimping for the 8mm?

Are those 200gr bullets? They look sweet
198 grain PPU FMJ BT. They shoot great. Thanks for the comment 👍.
So what powder you use. Hercules or dupont or what...
IMR 4064 in this one.
How much would a set of equipment similar to what you have in the video cost today? All the sizing, seating, bullet crimping, case lube, and press.
Good question. You could get started for around 250.00. It's an investment but it's also a fun hobby. Thanks for the comment 👍.
Could you please provide a link where can I buy it?
Great video, how much would a set up like that cost if you don’t mind the question

What povder use?
IMR4064. Thanks for the comment 👍.
Is it reloading if its new brass?
I guess it's just loading.
After the first range trip it will be! 😄
Pfff, thought that was a sunflower bag but it’s a bag of shells lol
Your case length is most important here

How do you get a he bullet tips?
He as in high explosive? Idk probably make it.

Agreed... But spend the money on better brass...PPU tends have the extractor groove pull off
I haven't had any issues yet. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks 👍
What press is that?
Lyman All American 8 Turret. It's a good press.
How many time you can reload a brass or steal?
Not sure about reloading steel. Rifle brass between 7 to 10 times depending on conditions. Pistol brass is probably 10 plus. Thanks for the comment 👍.
@@kyfirearms Thanks for the answer

Crimping not really needed
Damn do you take orders?🤣
Never crimped cartridges for a bolt action rifle.
Yeah I get that. I started with Lee dies that come with factory crimp and it's just habit for me.
Why?
