I never thought anyone would 'actually' ride the wall on purpose. That's quite a bit of damage, but it definitely helped him to keep his speed up on the turn.
And the best part is, it's technically not illegal to ride the wall, so he was allowed to keep his new position and to participate in the next race
He since said that he'll never do it again, apparently it hurt like hell afterwards 😂
Yeah.. nascar will probably make wall riding against the rules now since nobody thought that was even possible before 💀
@@thenascarman I doubt it since NASCAR is quite lenient with their rules compared to other motorsports. That's why it's the only one I enjoy watching.

@@ricardo1e93 Well, everyone with a brain knows that a car cant accelerate with the engine spinning at 0 rpm. Unless its a hybrid. So as the non-Hybrid Mercedes Sprinter accelerates but the needle stays at 0 rpm, it should be clear for everyone that the tachometer doesnt work, right? Even if they dont get the Sarcasm?

Translation for 5:54 : Due to the joystick you don't need to make any big adjustments when steering , and this is exactly what we can see during this short demonstration. The driver bearly needs to move his hand while driving. (The translation isn't really correct word for word i had to make some changes for it so the sentance would make a bit more sense in english.)

1) It was a last-ditch effort. Chastain needed the points and it was a desperate play, which could have (and has) gone wrong.
2) Heavily damaged the car. Chastain said the car could’ve gone maybe around the turn 1 and 2 wall and it would’ve given out afterwards. Steering was wrecked from the move.
3) Martinsville is the only track where the move could work, due to the lack of banking and the relative speeds going through turns.
4) NASCAR has said it’s very much discouraged. They’d probably want to outright ban it, but the popularity of the move and how much damage it does to the car, and only possible on one track, they’ll probably just let it slide with a warning.
Need for speed is trying for so many years to convince people that this is the right way and finally here we go. 😉
I never really did wall riding in racing games as much as I did the "slam into the person in front of you to slow down for the turn" move. Didn't work great in games with realistic damage lol

@@CadgerChristmasLightShow I never did either until I found on the Internet that it works like a charm in nfs Carbon. Using some car from muscle group that does not want to turn and brake, but accelerate like hell is good for wallriding. Of course it does work only in some arcade games. Simulators will punish you for that choice.

the 1.9 TDI it's an absolute tank I have the Volkswagen Mark 3 for about 6 years now and the only thing I did to the engine was normal maintenance nothing else and it's still running perfectly
90 hp 1.9TDi is what set standards for reliability & need of 1 milion kms odometers.

I have a 2001 TDI beetle (1.9 ALH) that just passed 200k miles, and finally blew the turbo seals. Replaced the turbo and its back to going strong. I have a TDI MK6 Golf too, never had a single problem with it.

Back in the 90's there was a lime green custom Reliant Robin doing the rounds in the UK. It (For some reason) was called "Eric" and had a heavily tuned 2L Ford SOHC Pinto, and (IIRC) a jaguar independent rear suspension setup. Because it had quite an impressive power to weight ratio, a rear biased weight distribution, and really wide rear tyres, that car could do wheelies on cue. :D
Seems like someone wanted an already quick 3 wheeler to be even faster. I'd love to see it drive.
@@mrjed6912 A little known fact is that back in the 80's there was a budget "Open wheel" race series where the only real build stipulation was that the car had to use an 850cc Reliant Robin engine, plus Reliant gearbox and rear axle. The series ran for several years, but then eventually folded. A lot of the cars had modified, and VERY highly tuned Robin engines, and without another race series for these cars to race in where they'd be competitive, most were broken for parts........ And a lot of these engines got put back into Reliant Robins and Reliant Kittens, then took out onto the roads !
There were quite a few totally stock looking robins running around that had around double the original BHP ! 80 bhp doesn't sound much, but remember that the Robin only weighed 400kg and change. so you're looking at around 200bhp per ton, and back then, that was enough to embarrass even some quite expensive cars off the lights. :D
