This video has been a big big help. Your video is a big boon!! Finally able to understand and use the EQ in FCP. Got exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
This is one of the best videos I've ever watched. I've been struggling with EQ-ing my vocals and this literally changed the game for me. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much! I'm here because - WATERFALLS!!! Love them, but ohhhh the sound. Looking for editing tips for this specific issue. Final Cut Pro + for settings on my Sony A6600 for sound.
I'm pretty sure loudness and uniformity are just a dumbed down compressor. Unifomrity clearly compresses the waveform, which you can see visually, and when turned to 0 , "amount" does nothing. True Normalize takes the loudest peak to 0db and leaves the dynamics alone.
Yeah I think you’re right, with the Uniformity low the compression was discrete enough on all the clips I tested that it wasn’t the issue, and so it was the closest thing to a Normaliser FCP will give you. Basically Apple need to just bring over their Normaliser from Logic, it’s perfectly good and there’s really no reason to leave it out
So great Dyl and Ryan! Number 5 is the story of my life. It's amazing the difference that playing videos out of different devices can have. Loved this one!
I only do it because I’m full of myself and like to watch my work 400 times in a row. So it’s a great excuse to pretend like I’m just trying to make it sound better. Haha thanks for watching my dude!
Great video! I'm an audio guy but music production and whatnot but have recently taken on editing video and it frustrates me beyond belief that FCPX doesn't use audio lanes or channels or nothing similar other than compound clips but... This video does help a lot, thank you!
Those tips are going to help me a lot, tks for that. I don’t know if o missed, but i would like to know about the mastering, how loud the voice should be and the music?
This was great Dylan. Thank you.. Can you show how you can mix two talking heads each with their own individual sound (not mixed) in a back and forth conversation? Is there a plugin for doing that if it wasn't mixed at the capture?
I am learning so much on this Channel! Never played with my EQ settings before. I just set up the preset like you taught in another video, is that better than the Channel EQ? or the same???? Also, you had mentioned peaking filters and I am not sure when and where to apply? It was not taught in that video.
Item 1 about normalizing clips is ambiguous: Do you add loudness to all your clips, or only the ones that FCP identifies as needing adjustments with the magic wand?
For a video about audio, why does it have such a loud, irritating Shrillex-esque noise over every one of the section titles? His voice is so quiet and that stuff is so loud, it's painful to listen to.
That's because I am a robot! We wouldn't want to make the resemblance to a human TOO convincing. ;) Haha appreciate the feedback! I hate that style of editing, but it's a very large factor when it comes to watch time retention on UA-cam unfortunately. And that's one of the biggest metrics by which UA-cam shares videos to other people. So with that being said, I have to play the UA-cam game. But I completely agree with you! Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for having me on the channel Dylan! Great to work together, and hopefully this helps a few people out!
Thanks for putting in the hard work on this video!

Wow. Number 2 was the simplest voice EQ description that I’ve ever heard. ❤

One of the easiest explanation of different EQ levels. Clear, to the point and practical instructions.
Thanks! :D

I appreciate the insight! Thank you! And thanks for taking the time to watch 👊

Funny how this video dialogue is pretty low 😅 great information. Thanks for sharing.
Ryan is an excellent, excellent recommendation. Thank you!
Working with audio in FCP is my least favorite part pf editing. This was engaging and informative! I'm pumped now to make my audio better.
He definitely has inspired me! Thanks for watching as always Jay!
Glad it helped, but sad that audio is your least favourite part haha, I promise it can be fun!
Ryan, you are my new hero. Thank you so VERY much! I Subscribed!
This is great, the denoiser stacking tip is gold -- thx for sharing!
It seriously is such a great tip! Thanks for watching as always 👊
I do everything in Garage Band then import to Final Cut Pro. Since I’ve worked in Pro Tools it makes it easy.
this was really helpful, thanks
Thanks, good comments.
Amazing! That has really helped and I’m heading to your channel now. Thanks bro for introducing him too….you guys should start a production company!!
He’s seriously crushing it on his channel! Appreciate the support as always!

Go subscribe to Ryan! You won’t regret it! -

Do you use the loudness normalization on audio clips? They tend to already be quite compressed.
where is the low cut filter?

Very interesting but when you talk there is not breathing moment because of the cut, the sound is great but it makes you sound like a machine (FYI)
