The Dutch oven was invented by a Brit, Abraham Darby after he visited the Netherlands and saw them casting brass pots and decided to try it with cast iron. in 1707 he patented his "Dutch Oven" Paul Revier added legs and a lip on the lid and thus the American version "Camp Oven" was born.
