- Little River Band - The night owls 1981
There's a bar right across the street
He's got a need he just can't beat
Out on the floor, he shuffles his feet away
He'll get the girl 'cause he looks so fine
He's gonna win her every time
He knows he will, he's dressed to kill
He's a night owl
Move on
there's a heart of a night owl callin'
To belong
she's cryin' in the night
Be strong
and find the heart of the night owl fallin'
Stay up till dawn
until the night is gone
What will become of the restless kind
Where do they go when they've done their time
Wearin' their hearts out on the line
for all to see
Must be the gypsy in their soul
They have a need to rock and roll
They know they will
they're out there still
They're the night owls
Move on
there's a heart of a night owl callin'
To belong
she's cryin' in the night
Be strong
and find the heart of the night owl fallin'
Stay up till dawn
until the night is gone
There's a bar right across the street
He's got a need he just can't beat
Out on the floor he shuffles his feet away, yeah yeah
He'll get the girl 'cause he looks so fine
He's gonna win her every time
He knows he will, he's out there still
He's a night owl
So move on
there's a heart of a night owl callin'
To belong
Probably the most underrated band in history. Awesome.
LRB
So damn perfect in all they do...so yes u are very much right on this. They are #1
Great band
YES!!
Don't understand they've so many number #1s hits, how it can they be underrated?
Night Owls, Cool Change, Reminiscing, Take it easy on me... The Beatles of the 80's. Anyone agree?
The Australian EAGLES
If LRB had one album with all those great songs and made 5 more albums just as good- then yeah maybe. As it stands, no.
Great Group, don't underate them. Enjoyed their 80's comeback sound. One of the best.
Those were all 70's songs besides Night Owls numb nuts.
Yes they are
I'm in my teenage years and I just found out about them months ago because my neighbor's dad played this song- "The Night Owls" while i was eating. Upon hearing the song, I immediately stood up and took my phone to ask google song recognition "what song is currently playing right now". I really loved this song on the first listen and that's why I decided to dig up on their albums and releases... This band is definitely GOAT!🤘 They have awakened my Musician self!!! Thanks to him I get to listen to a lot of masterpieces. It only shows how much I am missing from this band. Pure Gold!!!!!🤘
Just seen them play tonight in Fort Pierce Fl...night owl was the best and they played an intro to it that was unbelievable and I am looking online to see if I can find a long version of the song with it

In my opinion, LRB were always one of the best vocal harmony bands ever!
❤I sang this song to my 32 son who was dying of of Cancer. We were both Night Owls and when I got done he smiled at me. I can't begin to teii you how much that means to me ! ☺️❤️🙏💙💔🎶
I've heard this song today 15 times - I'm afraid im.a Night Owl. And proud of it. Who is with me? Gives me the shivers. Go LRB ❤️
My Lord, the harmonies are amazing. I was lucky to see the originals one time. These guys were sick good
This guy has a great voice. I love this band the vocals are fantastic......
Absolutely Agreed 💯💯👍👍
Yes, and I think he was the only american in the band, at least for awhile, wayne? Hes from chicago
Yes he does, awesome song, 1 of their best. He also played a huge hand in legally stealing the band name to take back home to USA. All the other original founding members can't your under LRB anymore.
I think he only sang one hit song, the rest of the hits song's was sung and written by the Australian backing him Up in this video clip.
@@Yulowirri He originally sang Take it Easy on Me but Glenn Shorrock wanted his version on the album so he sang it.
This song never gets old. Gives me chills every day when I listen to it ❤
Endless hits by the river band. Love them still after all these years.
Great band. Down to earth good guys. Lead singer Glen Shorrock sang the bands classics , "Its a long way there", " Reminiscing","Curiosity killed the cat", etc. He is one of the best lead singers in Australia.
Emma Johanna Bell
Dude was of the best lead singers anywhere
Emma Johanna Bell Wayne Nelson nailed this one!
He originally sang this one too
This was my favorite song when I was a kid. I had a forty five and played it over and over...
From The Great Music Renaissance of the 1980's. Great music and great time growing up in America. Thank You Great Lord above for filling the air with Harmony.
Great band. Great music.
The kid on the drums just looks happy to be there
Derek Pellici
And he's awesome
Not a kid, he just looks young. A great drummer, solid as a rock. He holds the whole thing together.
still some best voices ever in rock no doubt
My favorite song by The Little River Band !!! LOVE IT !!
pure talent and one damn fine band with one helluva sound,i like em
They don't make music like this anymore. This is a BAND!
Love Little River Band!! Friggin Awesome!!!
One of my favorite band of the 80s. Real music harmony vocals etc. There's even a Confederate Flag on display!
Love Love LOVE this song!! Come on Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, get this group in there! These guys were AWESOME with hit after hit
Sweet Aussie Band with a Confederate Flag in the background. Awesome voices!!!!
My school days reminds me of great song.
Totally forgot about this song, being that long ago. Awesome song that brings back a lot of memories when I was in 4th grade when it first came out. The absolute SHIT out there today just can't compare.
4th. Grade? What a BABY!
Not many times did you ever see a lead singer wearing a sport blazer looking like he's ready to step into the office. :)
Love the music from the 70's,and ya gotta love the background
Real music.Just saw this band in Eugene,OR.They were awesome !!!
great colorization. I absolutely love these guys. I grew up listening to them.
It's 2020 I still love this song
I think these guys contribute to the great mass of music I remember from the 80's. I never remember the names of the bands.
They are an Australian Band who had 14 top 10 hits in the US - that might be why they sound familiar. Plus they have a similar sound to the Eagles.
I don't know why but I always thought Beep Birtles sang this...until I watched this whole clip. Beep (red shirt) on guitar in the background! Wayne Nelson has an amazing voice. One of my favourite LRB songs.
*Beeb Birtles.
This group is great old school rock and roll if only they made music like this now instead of all the crap that putting out I miss this music so much Little River band rock on God bless everybody stay safe peace out 👍❤️🦋🎶🎵🙏❣️😊
Forgot about this GREAT SONG!!!!! WOW!!!!!
Great band. It’s sad to know that this lineup no longer exists and the band currently touring as The Little River Band sounds nothing like this. Even though Wayne Nelson sings lead on this song and he’s still in the band, he’s the only connection to the band that existed in the 70’s and 80’s.
Class - something lacking in a lot of what is called music anymore.
it lost its soul
Ramon EXS9BM And how. I don't think there's any left. Even the artists that are touted as having soul have only "borrowed" licks and riffs from the originals.
Fantastic performance!! They don't make 'em like this anymore :)
Real music, not like the junk played today.
Fabulously talented 😍 always loved these guys😍😍😍
Music today sucks and is so fake and autotuned
or today
One of the greatest groups ever
Real musicians!!! real talent!!!! Today's music sucks!!!!
One hell of a band!! Always enjoyed them. ( God damnit I want to go back in time )🥺
What a damn band! Awesome!
💖What a gem this song is💖 honestly there vocals are insane some of the greatest ever bar none
No one can touch them. LRB get it on. Every darn so g is a 🏆 🥇 winner. Outstanding to say the least.
These guys are a "class act"
I always liked these guys. Good music, good vocals. The music for about the last 25 years sucks compared to what we had back then.
LRB was a great band. Solid 80's music.
The best thing to ever come out of 'Straya!!!!!! :D
I saw LRB - the new version two years ago and they are an amazing band. Their music is just spot on as professionals. I waited for this song the entire night and it was great. His voice has not wavered at all after all these years.
It’s not the little river band. It’s a cover band that has the rights to the name. Not one member of the band that calls its self the little river band today were original members that wrote all the hits. This includes Wayne Nelson who fronts today’s fraudulent act.
@@folkard84 withyou all the way
@@folkard84 isn’t Wayne Nelson the guy singing lead vocals on the song in this video?
@@A1Adaydreaming Yes. He sang the original recording as well
@@folkard84 Yes. Just saw them on Cape Cod. Should have done my research. Afterward, my wife said she feels like we crossed through a picket line. A guy named Housden who joined them in the early 80's retained the rights to the band's namesake after the last of the original members quit. Housden left in 2006, but he continues to essentially direct the current "band." They played the hits which was good, but they now have two lead guitarists, so the original more mellow guitar licks are now on steroids.
Funny how musicians played instruments back then....and played them great to boot!
There vocals and music is so clean, you can tell there no altered
Man they don’t make music like this anymore.
Watching from Auckland.
Perfect harmonies LRB should have been a super group . Great Aussie talent 🙏🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺💙💙
Little River Band ,The Night Owls1981, Peter Beckett sings this song good to, great job Guy's,
Night owls come your senses. This song is ❤️ felt. 2019 November
Purple-shirt man was mid 80s Peter Gabriel before Peter Gabriel became mid-80s Peter Gabriel. Excellent band, underrated tune. Reminds me of my mom and dad taking me to the bars with them and those stained-glass lights hanging down over the tables. They drank their Old Milwaukees on red leather sets, as I drank my soda from a clear-red hard plastic cup. Orange-wood paneled walls. Those were the days.
I must say LRB would be one of the best ever bands to come out of Australia, just absolutely awesome
They were a great band- the core Australian member. Not one of the all time great Aussie bands but not far off. In terms of sustained charting songs in America they would certainly be the best from down under
never got the recognition that they deserved,
Such a great sounding group!!
Super band,bass player great singer
excelente...fantasticooooo!!!
Great song.
Walang pag kupas...
Wayne Nelson is a class Act and can still rock it.Just saw them in Vegas :)))
Upheld a court order🤔😁😉
Great voice, but has no moral right to the LRB name.
@@TwelveDeck he doesn't own it Snake, he did nothing wrong
these guys rock
Love this , amazing tight band
Still rocking this in February 2022
My first addiction was MTV loved it
where did this music go? let time go in reverse to 1981
My favorite album time exposure and big hit song Night Owl
so much talent there what vocals harmonies they created
1 of my fave band and song
I remember LRB performing a stadium gig in Auckland, NZ in, I think, early 1982. Glen Shorrock wore a T-shirt emblazoned with "Nothing stinks worse than an Aussie's underarm" referencing Trevor Chappell's now infamous underarm delivery in the NZ/Australia cricket test of 1981. Classic!
one of the the best songs ever from the 1980s
No offense Glen, but this is my favorite LRB song.
Actually we did this song in my band in 1984.
Great track
great lyriccs
That guitar solo is sweet like Buck Dharma's.
Looks like the boys are having a little too much fun :)
Love it!!!!
Doug Hauser played hockey at Kent state in 1981
Fretless bass. outstanding
I love this freakin song.........
Love LRB, Two great front men singing makes for awkward moments . 😎😁
Whew! The Best...
Never knew the bass player sang this song. And what's with the suit jacket???
It's recorded from German TV...
hello, how are you doing ?it is nice meeting you here.
Glenn Shorrock's dancing in this is hilarious.
I know...Hah hah....he is just so Vegas!
Glenn "I Can't Stop My Leg" Shorrock 😊
Everything cooler in the 80s 🤘🏼
why was their official video taken down by the fun police? thats BS
Harmonies!! Oh love me Real Harmonies!
hey....thats Mal Logan from little o'l Wanganui New Zealand on keyboards....so cool
Yep. He's a mate of mine. Top bloke.
they liked Wayne Nelson plenty well in 1981
Both lead singers are great from LRB Are they came from the land Down Under ? and i said yeaah
No. Bassist Wayne Nelson is American and not an original member. This is the only LRB song that he originally sang lead vocal. Glenn Shorrock to Nelson's left is the lead singer, and is from Australia
Nelson also shared the lead vocal on the song "Take It Easy On Me".
@@classrockin Glenn Shorrock was actually born in England.
Vocals and Instruments. How it should be.
This is filmed on the set of the TV show MUSIK LADEN in Germany. So you would have to ask the producers of that TV show why they had the Confederate Flag as part of their set on that night. :-)
Deutschland uber alles = Dixie.
Ooh! Roger (bass/vocals) and Mal (keyboards) - playing in a band earlier than the sensational (Geoff Achison and the Souldiggers).
Mal is a good mate of mine. Now lives in the Sunshine Coast hinterland but doesn't play much any more . I think his last gig was a Sunday arvo session with Kevin Borich at a pub up there. Cheers.
I prefer the more laid back live version on their "One Night in Mississippi" recording. Check it out if you haven't heard it.
