What all you need to know about Autism Disorder?
Autism spectrum disorder is a difference in the way a brain develops. autism people may have trouble understanding the world around them.
What's It Like to Have Autism Spectrum Disorder?
A Patient with autism might have trouble:
• talking and learning the meaning of words
• making friends or fitting in
• dealing with changes (like trying new foods, having a substitute teacher, or having toys moved from their normal places)
• dealing with loud noises, bright lights, or crowds
They also might move in an unusual way (like flapping their hands) or do the same thing over and over (like saying the same word).
A Patient with autism may have a little trouble with these things, or a lot. Some Patients need only a little bit of help, and others might need a lot of help with learning and doing everyday stuff.
What Causes Autism?
Autism is something people are born with. No one knows exactly what causes it. It probably has something to do with a patient’s genes and other things that change the way the brain develops.
How Is Autism Diagnosed?
Doctors check during developing years for signs of autism at every checkup. A parent may think that something is wrong and tell the doctor.
When a doctor thinks a patient might have autism, he or she will work with a team of experts to see if it is autism or something else.
How Is Autism Spectrum Disorder Treated?
There is no cure for autism, but treatment can make a big difference. The younger the patients are when they start treatment, the better.
Doctors, therapists, and special education teachers can help patient to learn to talk, play, and learn. Therapists also help them learn about making friends, taking turns, and getting along.
What if My Friend Has Autism Spectrum Disorder?
Some people with ASD do not feel that they have a disorder and don't want to change. They're proud of who they are and they want to be accepted, even though they may have different strengths and weaknesses than most other people.
All people deserve respect. But people with ASD may be teased, bullied, or left out because they're different. Bullying and teasing are never the right way to treat other people, but it may be hard to be a friend with someone who has ASD.
Try to be patient and kind. Remember how hard it might be for the person with ASD to understand how to be a friend. Stand up for classmates who are bullied. Tell adults, so they can help

Thanks for this wonderful awareness video Doctor. In our country when a child is identified as autism, it is very difficult to accept for their parents, especially to the fathers. Sometimes that causing a delay to start a therapy or further steps that need to be taken at the right time. Definately your video helps here for an awareness to them.
In developed countries every thing is systamatic and that helps them to accept the situiation. Moreover it is easy for autism kids / people to live their day-to-day life due to this acceptance on their socity. Here also it is happening, but slowly.

My child aslo got spectrum autism disorder.but nobody can find out..I make him functional like other kids ..he is studying in normal regualr school .but I did lot of hardwork to bring him up ..and showed visual teaching method to make him understand his lessons than by hearing documentary..so if the child didn't respond their name immediately they should be brought to the socialization as our doctor told .and kept him engaged in activities. they need visual teaching methods...now my kid is fine

I think the dr has mixed up the autism vs Down syndrome. Some of the kids pics shown in this video are Down syndrome kids. It’s totally different from Autism. It’s not a disease, not a mental disability or not something that needs to be cured or treated. I live in USA, where almost every one uses this term a lot. Basically it’s a spectrum. Even a very normal person who can function very well can be said autistic. It’s how there brain is wired. Some kids a low functional autistic who needs occupational therapy (OT) and/or speech therapy (ST), kid like mine doesn’t need anything that sort. He just has social communication concerns, but at 5 even that has gotten better. We have to be careful in understanding Autisim vs ADHD too. Like the Dr mentioned, some kids will be hyper but they are not autistic, they are ADHD.
Sometimes they can be diagnosed with both.
