The dealership wanted 1K for a Service B on GLS. I completed myself for $321.00. This included oil, filter, cabin filter, break fluid change, and the purchase of a vacuum break bleader. Didn't need new wiper blades as we don't get snow and maybe 10 days of rain a year. I also had the tires rotated and balanced for free as I purchased the road hazard at Discount for $400.00 when I purchased the car. Most people don't know you can do this. It took me about two hours to complete it w/o any help.
They wanted 300 dollars for a cabin air filter change and the same for an air filter on my gla 45--they should be sued for price gouging--did both of them myself--paid a tech 25 dollars cash at tires plus to help me with the air filter because power tools made it easier--these were 10 to 15 minute items and mb wants to charge an hour to an hour and a half for labor knowing their techs with the right tools can do this in 5 minutes.MB thinks everyone is born with a silver spoon not realizing most of their customers bust their ass working 50 to 60 hous a week at a job or small business.I actually have a software update next week and will confont the service manager to explain to me 300 dollars for something I did myself.I might even bait him when he says its complicated then pull the air cabin filter out and back in again in front of him to see what he says--you roll the carpet down--unhook 2 clips--pop the filter out--line up the new filter and slide it in then pop the plastic piece back on--fing ripping folks off--the repair should be 40 dollars at most just because I would want them to pay the techs that do this fairly.
My dealership charges around $900 for a service B that includes a detail basically it gets washed. I do it myself now and get the parts--quality parts online for $160 and it takes me say half a day .👌🙏👏
Buy the prepaid maintenance plan. I did and was well worth it. Also bought the wheel and tire package, DuPont upholstery package, paintless dent removal and free key replacement. So glad I spent that money.
2 years later, are you still glad? Except for the maint plan, those are all just added dealer markup... even the tire/wheel package is a rip off, how many blow outs did you have so far? and you know the tire manufacturer warrants the tires. how many wheels did you kill, European Forged Wheels can be had for 400 bucks a wheel. I guess if you live in michagan pot hole hell, you might cover your costs...
Just paid $700 B-service on 2017 E class. 29000 miles. No wipers included....basically glorified oil change. They recommended $1000 transmission service and $500 battery change.
Do the battery change. The battery replacement is more than that. You need to replace the main and secondary batteries----there are two of them and they cost about $800. That transmission replacement cost is about right----about $900 - $1,000.
@@remixsavedme4475 transmission fluid. The front brakes will set you back $1,200. If you do the spark plugs, it will set you back about $1,000 or more. There is nothing cheap about maintaining an AMG.
This is why I drive 4 runner and I am a cheap girl , my cost for oil change is 60$, I was thinking of buying 450 gas but after learning everything about mrcd I will pass it and enjoy some vacations
In the UK you can pay as you go service, negotiate it in the price for 3 years at time of purchase, or lastly buy the care plan on a monthly basis and pick how many years you want it for and pay accordingly..... I had it in with the price of the car ( heavily discounted) but £40 or about 50 bucks in the US will get you 3 years 3 services about £1400 overall when 3 services retail will cost you £1800
In fairness to the dealership, it sounds like the labor for even a decade of "genuine" service will not cost much more than a nice option package when buying. I don't think they communicate well where the money goes but highly qualified and skilled staff likely check effectively hundreds of important safety issues in the car like tires, suspension, computer logged fault codes etc that a non-genuine place might not have the equipment to check or fix well and may cost much more when faults multiply over time. An independent specialist might be of some use if you insist

You got DOUBLE billed for the oil filter seal because it comes with the oil filter or stand alone.... but a new one always comes included with the filter.
Service B also includes cleaning the rain drains in the car. If they did not clean out the rain drains, take it back and tell them to do it because if the drains get clogged, water will find its way into your car and that would be the beginning of your electrical nightmare in any Mercedes. I change my oil every 3,000 miles. And i use 7 quarts of genuine Mercedes Benz 229.5 oil which I get for about $70 from FCP euro. I use PurFlux oil filter which costs about $15---Purflux make oil filters for Mercedes Benz. Some might ask why I do my oil change so frequently since Mercedes says you should do it every 10,000 miles? I have 2 Mercedes Benz, and both get 3,000 mile oil changes. The net effect of driving my Mercedes Benz in a spirited way with constant oil changes, is an obvious and direct improvement in my fuel mileage either in sports mode or sports + mode. I also replace my air filters on both Merc twice a year. I never crank and drive away with my Mercs. I let them sit and idle for at least 10 minutes. But when i start driving, after about 10 minutes of letting the transmission warm up, then, my Merc is awake and ready to be pushed. All Mercedes love frequent oil changes. They love new air filters. They love to be driven in a spirited manner, and by spirited, push the engine to 5,000 - 6,000 rpm from time to time. So, my oil cost about $70, oil filter about $15, and the actual oil change cost me $20 at the shop I use. The total cost of my oil change every 3,000 miles comes to about $105. So, I get about 4 oil changes a year using genuine Mercedes parts. Why anyone would wait for 10,000 miles before an oil change, remains a mystery to me. Based on direct experience, when my car hits 100,000 miles, with frequent oil changes, the internals of my car will be closer to the internals of a 60,000 miles car.
*SOME* Mercedes love to be driven in a spirited way. My dad's 2005 E350, not so much. My 2018 GLC43 AMG? Of course! But I don't change my oil at 3K miles. Mercedes recommends at 10K miles, but I do it myself at 7.5k. Pelican Parts sells a kit with oil, filters and new crush washer for $79. Can't say no to that! And for air filters a pair of Mahle (OEM) from Pelican goes for $55 for my AMG. I also got a 3 pack of interior cabin filters for $45 from Amazon...carbon impregnated...and a 3 pack of engine cabin filters for $20 from Amazon.
@@ekummel My oil change schedule comes from direct experience. I have another small 1.6 liter engine car with over 350,000 miles which still uses the original timing chain, original timing chain guide, original timing chain tensioner, original head gasket. The engine is 32 years old. It has never had any work done to it in 32 years. Only valve cover gaskets (2), front oil seal (1),rear oil seal (2) has been replaced on the engine. That is the only work the engine has received in 32 years. I change the oil every 2,000 miles with dino oil Castrol GTX and Fram Tough Guard filter. This is the reason why i do 3,000 miles oil changes in my two benz. I have seen the direct effect of constant oil changes on an engine. Even Jesus Christ cannot talk me out of doing constant oil changes. E350 was not meant to be driven It is an executive class car. If you want nimble handling, you do the C350 or the C300 4 matic in the W204 body style.
lean to do your own maintenance. Oil change is super simple on a Mercedes. you don't even have to jack the car up. All you need is a fluid evacuator. For genuine MB parts, pick up at your local MB dealer or use , if you are in the US, places like AutohausAZ. changing wiper blades is easy as heck. that blade and holder comes as complete piece. all you have to do is re-hook it. Only thing you might want to visit your local MB stealership to do is to check/regrease your sun roof. Having said all that though, if you can afford a $70-80K car, can't really complain about $4-500 service A/B fee.
I agree with the windshield wiper replace it yourself...but be super careful...I went to one of those chain car parts stores to get something for my Jeep and a lady with a Subaru came in, purchased new wipers and part of that store's service is that they will replace the wipers for you for free! So of course the lady took advantage of that feature and a young teenaged boy followed the lady out to her car. While waiting for my turn to purchase my items, I watched the events unfold in the parking lot...There was some commotion and suddenly, all motion stopped...they were both frozen in place. The young boy turned around and headed back inside the store calling for the manager...turns out the wiper arm fell back onto the windshield without a blade on it and cracked the windshield...now the store's going to have to replace the lady's windshield.. Not blaming the kid, this could happen to anybody, but if I hadn't seen it myself, I wouldn't have believed that a wiper arm could crack a windshield...but it can...so be careful. I'm sure that a Mercedes windshield isn't cheap!
Yup. I use to be a service advisor for a Porsche dealership and we were using Castrol GTX for oil. Usually German brands don’t have their own oil brand here in the US so we used that. Unlike Ford and GM both have their own oil brand
What you complain about? In Austria, I paid Euro 1100 for Service B, the engine oil itself cost some Euro 250 for premium oil > Eur 1 = $1.09. Be grateful you paid only about $500.
When you are driving a relatively expensive (and complicated) car, you should expect higher maintenance fees. I watched a Mercedes clip on exactly what they do on routine services and they check a LOT of stuff all around the car. Could I save a hundred bucks at Joe's auto down the street? Probably. Could I have peace of mind that Joe checked all the important items? Probably not, sorry Joe, I'll pay the premium but expect the premium service at Mercedes.
Absolutely wild to me that a high end luxury car is so delicate.. Why can’t it be reliable and tough as well as luxurious? I don’t think there even is an intent to make them last longer.. there’s more money in making them so fragile.
If you lease the vehicle the prepaid maintenance makes a lot of sense. The simple reason why is because Mercedes residuals the maintenance for there customer. Meaning the actual cost isn’t what your paying. Why they do that you might ask… because Mercedes feels there car is going to be worth more if you maintain it at the dealer for the next owner. 👍🏼
The cost for AMG is gonna be stiff. I have a simple C Class and a GLK, and I get all of my service done by AAA for no more cost than would be charged for a Ford, Toyota, etc. You WILL always pay more if you get service at a dealer, regardless of the manufacturer.
@@RealCharlieGee I had brake pads replaced and rotors turned on the front axle of our GLC for about $400. I did not need to replace the brake fluid. I typically pay about $109 for full synthetic oil with filter for either the GLK or the C Class. I had 6 spark plugs replaced on the SUV for about $300, as I recall. They will change the transmission fluid for about. $200. Hope that helps.
@@RealCharlieGee they do not break it down by A or B…but, as one example, they will perform a full service check with full oil synthetic change and filter for about $120 and the dealer charges close to $300. You call them and get a quote. It is worth in.
Better than the dealer l got it from. Service A cost me $700. When it was due for Service B the dealer said $850 to start. I asked what type of fucking scam they are running. That was that.
Same here Mercedes dealer tried scamming me out of $700 this morning for a glorified oil change, my local mechanic did it for $140, these dealers are scammers
Well I cross reference my air filter and cabin filters found the same one from the manufacturer Mercedes’ use “hints model number on the parts from original manufacture “ usually . Purchased Mobile 1 full synthetic European or what’s used at dealer purchased Mercedes’ oil filter from dealer ( just to be safe) I spent honesty $130 and fyi I did use suction to remove the oil from dip stick purchased from Amazon .
I assume the price in this video is in USD. I am based in Canada. For reference, I did the first service A on my GLC300 at a dealership and it cost 560 CAD. Absolute madness
I was going to get the 3-year plan, but I didn't want to finance the cost for the four years the life span of the loan. I will pay the whole plan cash. After the maintenance warranty is gone after 4 years I will be taking my car somewhere else.
It's very interesting to see people purchase these vehicles, sure you might be able to afford the payment month to month. But when those brakes go bad and you need a full set of rotors.. I can guarantee that $4-$5K slap is going to hurt. 70-80K car used still comes with the $100K maintenance cost. Gotta Pay2Play.
Quick math gives you about 1% of the car initial purchase price in service. I have cars that cost up to 7% in services against the cars initial price with it's 2nd service.... So it is relative. But to be fair, my Service B cost me about 430dollars (380 EUR) at a Mercedes dealership. My percent was 0,75 against my purchase price for Service B.
Oil and filter for your cars anywhere online would be like 80$ and 30 min of your time. Even if you dont want to do it take it anywhere else and they would do it for 40-50$ for labor with your parts. Spending money at dealership is money down the drain.
This is so basic for any one to do it themselves if $500 hurts you. On the other side if you buy an entry level AMG +60K +$500 should not be a problem. Still every guy needs to do this basic maintenance themselves on any car. Don’t matter the brand.
Yes, never do a regular oil change at a stealership...but also, never taken your Mercedes to one of those quicklube places either! Guaranteed they will not have the Eurospec oil that your AMG requires! What's funny is that in the engine bay of my GLC43, there's a sticker that says "Mercedes recommends Mobile-1 oil" Oh really?
If your Merc is outta warranty don't take it to a dealer if you don't want to be ripped off, take it to an ordinary decent mechanic or do it yourself, it's not that difficult you know.
My son lexus wiper blade survived 3 years and changed diy 10 dollars. I changed oil for my gla 250 2021 for 50 dollar diy and my GLE 350 for 55 dollars all diy. Fluids for service B around 10 dollars for both MBs. I feel insult to take my cars to dealership stealership.. I have computer to reset.
I called the dealership in the area a couple of days ago and asked what my estimate will be for a service B. "Starting at $805", they said. Starting at! Looking at a past invoice for the B, labor alone was $522. Steep.
Typically Service B nothing is really done except cabin filter (30 min), Air filter (30min), and oil filter/oil. They claim they check and lubricate things like the door hinges but they do not... and you can buy that from MB for $22 a huge can.
Just bought a used A class 180d 19 plate which has 42k miles and they are quoting me £880 for a class b service, Is it worth it or just take it to halfords or another garage and get it done for under £300?
FCP Euro is your friend. And learn to do small servicing jobs yourself. The money spent servicing at "stealerships" you can buy your own set of simple tools.
Most shops have a preferred oil that they use for oil changes, euro shops are where you want to take it, if you’re not sure then ask them for the receipt of whatever parts they’re installing
When you go AMG can cost more money than a non AMG, now the pre-paid service is a good deal I think, now find a European shop the works on this cars they told me it can be $400 pre-pandemic obviously!!! And he use OEM parts! Remember dealerships have that big overhead!!!But $500+ for service is once a year!!!! Seriously! The Mercedes-Benz get service once a year and if a regular car pays $100 and does 2 the difference is $300 for a premium car, and actually someone going on UA-cam and complaining about what he paid on service on his Benz is not good!!! You should be driving a Corolla!!!
Service Bs are overpriced money grabbing sessions. The oil change filters you can do yourself if a little bit handy. Brake fluid flush you can get the dealer to do. Wiper blades change you can do yourself or a 3rd party shop.
brother you. spent how much on this Benz ???? lol and you complain about. $600 come on !! come to Kensington Philly those professionals will do it for you for $20.
10000k is the minimum for an oil change, i change my own at 5000k or every 6 months. Be kind to your motor. Mercedes don't give a rats ass if your car blows up out of warranty.
Why does every clueless person have to make videos? you dont know if you can opt out of new wipers?? SERIOUSLY? They will only do what you tell them to.
If you pay for the pre-pay package when you first purchase the car, it'll included 3 years services with a lot less cost.

The cost for AMG is gonna be stiff. I have a simple C Class and a GLK, and I get all of my service done by AAA for no more cost than would be charged for a Ford, Toyota, etc. You WILL always pay more if you get service at a dealer, regardless of the manufacturer.
How much was your service b through AAA. I’ve been a AAA member for years. I just bought a used but fairly new Mercedes.
@@HVACWITHDANNYdoes service b mean transmission fluid change as well
Well I cross reference my air filter and cabin filters found the same one from the manufacturer Mercedes’ use “hints model number on the parts from original manufacture “ usually .
After the maintenance
warranty is gone after 4 years I will be taking my car somewhere else.
I just paid $615 for the Service B on a 2017 GLS-450. The same place only charged me $135 for Service A.
Nah bro. I’ll change it myself 😂
Agreed
Need a vid on this🤪🤪
I don’t drive much. It’s time for B3. How long will the car count down the days? Can I wait?
That's realy not that much. Tho I'd pay it.i thought he was gonna day like 3k
Yeah it is relative for sure though I do think dealers are over charging
Oil and filter for your cars anywhere online would be like 80$ and 30 min of your time. Even if you dont want to do it take it anywhere else and they would do it for 40-50$ for labor with your parts. Spending money at dealership is money down the drain.
This is so basic for any one to do it themselves if $500 hurts you. On the other side if you buy an entry level AMG +60K +$500 should not be a problem. Still every guy needs to do this basic maintenance themselves on any car. Don’t matter the brand.
I just pay 160CAD for regular oil change for my C450. Never do this in dealership. Same thing same service But more money
Yeah def cheaper do it yourself easier and
I pay 52 dollars for oil and change it myself thanks
and 14.99 for a mann filter
I have computer to reset.
turn key . tap speedometer button three times , arrow key down for sub menu . choose service . accept to restart service . done lol
Just bought a used A class 180d 19 plate which has 42k miles and they are quoting me £880 for a class b service,
Is it worth it or just take it to halfords or another garage and get it done for under £300?
It’s not an oil change, it’s Service B. What a line of bull Mercedes, you should know better. Good video, thanks for the cost breakdown.
I want one so badly but idk about driving a car that will depreciate 50% 🥲
Damn for $350 just in labor I change the oil in my truck 5 times over.
FCP Euro is your friend. And learn to do small servicing jobs yourself. The money spent servicing at "stealerships" you can buy your own set of simple tools.
Exactly! Plus the tools you get to keep and use the rest of your life on not only cars but possibly other things
THIS is the reason I do my own maintenance
A UA-cam premium subscription to learn how to do you own maintenance is much cheaper than going to the stealership.
Point me in that direction pls?
How can a reset the service B message?
Does Anyone know if its okay to get an oil change at a local oil change shop? How do I know if they use legit parts for my Mercedes?
Most shops have a preferred oil that they use for oil changes, euro shops are where you want to take it, if you’re not sure then ask them for the receipt of whatever parts they’re installing
Thank you man
my dealer wanted to charge me over 2,000 for service b. absolute scumbags
KINDA WONDER WHAT DEALER
crazy. what model?
@@eastbaystreet1242 you’re not gonna believe it
@@eastbaystreet1242 c300
Maybach S650? Just kidding. Probably an A class. So, what model? @@t_qi
You got robbed, it's always 60/40 60% for parts and 40% labor
I think so as well..
Wait until you get the service charge for brakes
i just did service B for 40k miles for 932$
ouch. what model do you have?
THAT IS NOT A B SERVICE. YOU PAID AND GOT ANTOHER A SERVICE. YOU ARE MISSING THE BRAKE FLUSH CABIN FILTER
Simple answer..do not go to the dealer for Service B because you have other options.
60 Dollars for windshield wiper blades? Haha wtf is wrong with Mercedes
Service Bs are overpriced money grabbing sessions. The oil change filters you can do yourself if a little bit handy. Brake fluid flush you can get the dealer to do. Wiper blades change you can do yourself or a 3rd party shop.
It’s not expensive if you can do it alone labor is what prices it up I’ll do my own oil change and change the wiper blades
i can do all of the service at home in 1 hour, save my self all that money
SUCH A HANDY MAN U R !! ENVY U
I got a b200 and do my own service for the cost of nothing but fluids and filters . read your manual people don't be lazy
brother you. spent how much on this Benz ???? lol and you complain about. $600 come on !! come to Kensington Philly those professionals will do it for you for $20.
It’s $952 now
thanks for the warning-
$5 bucks for the privilege of using the bathroom while you were there.
Ylli do you speak albanian?
Yes I do!
How do you drive a luxury car and complain when I have to maintain? Just get a KIA Sir.. I have E550 and paying 970 for tune up n oil change
YLIIIIIII
10000k is the minimum for an oil change, i change my own at 5000k or every 6 months. Be kind to your motor. Mercedes don't give a rats ass if your car blows up out of warranty.
"other"= waste disposal likely.
Ours is costing 750 wtf
Holy fuck that’s not worth 500 🤣
Why does every clueless person have to make videos? you dont know if you can opt out of new wipers?? SERIOUSLY? They will only do what you tell them to.
Love u
love you
Guess what you got robbed
Your camera sucks, and don't wink with hands and paper in front of lense. Thx. Nice car
I can do that myself.
