I don't know if you venture over into tik tok, but Loren Allred and Morissette both recently started accounts there. Loren started following Morissette there and Lorens first upload was a "duet with me" style tik tok of "Never Enough". Several fans tagged Morissette, and a few days ago Morissette did a tik tok clip duet with Loren. The result is glorious and it's headed toward 1 million views. Both artists have mutual admiration for one another. The power of the internet strikes once again! Thank you for having Morissette back on your channel. While listening to this the first time around and before your later interpretation, I just have to stop for a moment and add that she is singing all of this in a seated position. Hats off to this gal! This is a difficult song to sing in ANY position, but she's just sitting there and orchestrating it out. Fantastic! Whoa! (Yes, and of course you note it, too, in your analysis, but I am leaving mine because, oh boy, was this impressive!). Also, love what you said about her caressing the lyrics. It is also a quality we sometime see in great poets and orators, who can sculpt the words into part of the song. Love this! Thanks, Christi!

my apologies... as I was saying 'i will always love you' and all I heard was "if i" & that was it,I couldn't take my eyes off her. Her vocal was amazing but the fact that she was performing live,on the dock side, it was windy & she was sat down with her legs crossed made it even more stunning. This very informal,laid back, intimate sort of performance really suits her & we all know she can belt so she doesn't have anything to prove but she has this habit of singing directly to your soul & making you feel that its just you & her. There were many stunning performances from her during this show,which was last summer (she has been involved again in some new episodes that were done in the winter) both in english & korean & covering many genre's, inc.rapping. A few of note : 'i will always love you',as I already mentioned, 'if I aint got you' (alicia keys), 'i wont give up' (jason mraz), as well as a couple of duets & group songs (her fellow performers are all famous stars in korea & sohyang is the token 'elder' in this ensemble) & her performance of 'day day' is where you'll find her rapping!!, and finally,although there are many other fantastic performances I this series, there is one song that I am sure you will love & that is her rendition of Ella Fitzgerald's 'Misty'. Like I said,these are very current performances & would be interested to know if you can see that she seems even better than she was before. Thankyou

One thing that I didn't see mentioned, just to give Morissette even more respect. From what I've been told, when she sang this song on the wish bus, she was actually sick too. So not only was her performance spot-on and amazing, but she did that while ill too! To me, that just shows how dedicated and how much she loves singing, that even when she is sick, she still has the energy and desire to perform and sing!
Learn a lot from educated musician like you madam before I only hear good singer singing a good song now I know how they used their voice like mori

When I hear this song I never think of Loren Allred, because I like Morissette's rendition of it so much more. For me it is her song.

Sadly, I don't know what happened during your Upload , but the sound/Audio is muffled, Your speaking sounds perfect but her Vocal, is,,ehhh..just doesn't sound nothing like the Wish, I recommend everybody who hasn't go watch and Listen to the Wish drop. However, that aside, great breakdown and reaction/analysis of this Masterpiece Performance!

Also don't discount that Karaoke is the national past time of the Philippines. It's EVERYWHERE and kids start singing naturally at every occasion as soon as they can hold a mic. Morissette's dad put some home Karaoke videos of Morissette on UA-cam, and it's awesome to see the progression.

Of course Morrissette is incredible but I am always amazed by the sound electronics that makes it even better. I wonder about the graphical EQ settings, the type of reverb and the compressor curve. And the vocal/track balance is perfect as well. All together it makes for an outstanding musical experience. Christi does her usual outstanding reaction analysis. It just doesn’t get any better than this!

I love your take on Mori’s version! Besides her vocal mastery of this song, her emotion is what separates her from other artists. I’m convinced they are real emotions not just an act. This video is 2 years old you’re lagging on the Mori bandwagon but you can catch up with her original songs like Love You Still and her new one just dropped 2 days ago called Phoenix both on her yt channel. I totally appeciate and understand the techniques your pointing out as a professional vocal coach w/c is sad becausewe do have a lot of amazing singers like Morrissette thaat is denied formal vocal training because of poverty here in the Philippines that we can't afford to be trained plus the fact that we lack vocal coaches too and even most of our popular singers did not get trained and learned it by doing it themselves. If we only have vocal coachess like you i can only imagine how many more singers we will produce that would become international artists. Great reaction and thanks for the tips on how to improve our singing skills.

Fantastic! It feels like the whole world & his dog are trying to sing this song at the moment & one can easily be forgiven for not wanting to hear another version but if we dont keep our ears open we risk missing out on performances like this.
Could you please react to Sohyang's version of this song. Although its a music video rather than a 'live' performance, a rarity for sohyang, but done because of the pandemic, I think you will appreciate her version & the concept of the video which ends up with 3 sohyang's & she does her own 3 part harmonies.
I have noticed that you haven't reacted to sohyang for a long time & just thought i'd tell you that the general feeling amongst her supporters is that she sounds better than ever,getting better as she gets older, which is hard to comprehend, but true!! and it would make sense as she has enjoyed a relatively long period (for her anyway) of good health & not only does she sound amazing but she looks so good too.
If you'd like to see more of where sohyang is now vocally then I suggest you check out any of her performances from a project called 'begin again korea' which involved a small ensemble of singers/musicians going into workplaces & public spaces & performing a few songs at each to help keep the spirits up of the people during the pandemic. These performances are acoustic & really stripped back,they are basically just 'busking', so the lack of musical accompaniment,or very little, leaves the vocalists with nowhere to hide & I feel this is where the better vocalists really shine.

Difference between belly breathers vs upper rib cage breathers is to be able to sing sitting down or laying down or upside down and even whilst dancing and she’s the latter. And because that’s how we naturally breathe. We don’t breathe with bellies pumped full of air. Take for example the wolf and the 3 lil pigs story and it shows how he takes in air for power.

We can drop the "she wasn't trained" description already. It was true up until she joined The Voice of the Philippines in 2013 where she was trained by Sarah Geronimo, who was a protégé of Regine Velasquez. Morissette was then trained by other vocal coaches after the contest. Having been trained doesn't make her or her performance less impressive.
