Morissette is already engaged to Dave Lamar, singer and cinematographer. He takes all the videos and does the editing himself. They have a duet if you're interested, did a cover of Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi on UA-cam. She was born in Cebu Philippines and transferred to Manila with her family since her gigs and shows are in Manila. Her parents are just normal Filipinos. We have to credit her English teacher back in school perhaps. You're right, though not a native English speaker she has perfect enunciation. I've listened to Sohyang and Dimash, incredible voices but i also noticed immediately they aren't native English speakers. She has a way to pull you in and take you on, filling you with emotions of the song. Frankly i listen to her daily to get everything right in my life. 🔥🎶💕
I think she is just incredibly great, and not many filipino can properly enunciate in english. the way we learned things in the ph is quite different in the U.S it still takes a lot of self taught. I think the way she learned it really well is by singing, definitely not by school in the ph. No doubt, she work very hard to be one of the best.
Charlie, she is the best female singer in the world in my opinion and I am really annoyed that she isn't more popular in the US where I live. Why hasn't an agent signed her up and promoted her in America.
She has exclusive contract to STAR Records in our country. And busy enough to have some commitments outside Philippines. But no doubt she is really a good singer. Thank you for the reactions. Proud to be Pinoy (filipino).
I must say i'm happy about that, because if she comes into the claws of the american music industry she maybe ends singing typical boring american pop of these days where people wouldn't even notice her talent because its just this lame hiphop crap or whatever.
When you hear her in interviews speaking English she has a typical Filipino accent....but yeah you can't tell in her songs...I assume it's something she's worked hard on and studied carefully when it comes to singing these covers. Amazing.
I'm just so proud of my schoolmate. Ever since, we compete with each other in our school singing contest and she always won because of her golden voice. Now, she's now a star
Exactly! She's sitting down - pulling those notes from deep within and sustaining them beyond what normal lungs should be able to endure. Morissette is phenomenal!! Love 💘 her.
CHARLIE..YES...Mori was just taught by her father and a natural talent. A host of Divas in one voice. A Generational voice gifted to us by Aliens and yes its melted chocolate and silky smooth. Keep going on Mori. Much love from the Fiji 🏝 🇫🇯 Islands
Well, here in the Philippines, when it comes to a normal conversation, we often used Filipino/Tagalog/Taglish but when it comes to Business, Enforcing Laws, and Medium of Instruction in schools, English is a must to use. Even our constitution is all written in English. From Kindergarten up to college, English and Filipino were taught simultaneously. But yeah, not all Filipinos can enunciate English so well. Maybe some can but it is only valid for those who work as Call Center Agent in a BPO company.
Sir Charlie: ” Stunning Stunning it's like she's being POSSESSED!”‼️ hahahaha and exactly!for every single one performance of Morissette, she's POSSESSED”‼️ epic! a Powerhouse in a small body! Proud Filipina here‼️
You said it right, I can just watch her and listen to her beautiful voice and music all day. Who wouldn't admire and fall in love with such a gorgeous, angelic, powerful, phenomenal, unbekievable voice and talent?! That is the one and only MORISETTE, Asia's Phoenix who just keeps on soaring high. Her new original song called POWER is already available on iTunes. Kindly check that out, stream it and spread the good news Hehehe Take care. Thank u again for another reaction video of hers.
Yes, she is awesome. Speaking of diction and enunciation, watch Lea(Lay-uh) Salonga in Les Miserables 10th Anniversary singing On My Own, she is the goat! Lea is the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan, also the original Miss Saigon(Broadway Musical).
Diana Ankudinova is a young performer who shocks us with her pleasant voice and takes us into the abyss of events!!! Diana Ankudinova is unique and inimitable, goosebumps from her voice!=)))) Diana sings as if she lives in the song! The soul freezes or opens with Diana's voice.=))))))) I am a musician who has been with music for years, and believe me, I have not heard such a tone in all these past years.
Nice reaction! You are now in Mori’s World! Whether you know it or not you are now addicted to her voice. You will never be able to get enough of it. She forces you to feel every song she sings to your core! Enjoy the ride!
Charlie, Mori speaks 2 of the native languages plus English. Her home area is Cebu where they speak Basaya. They teach school in English and Tagalog. She speaks all three and sings in a number more without an accent! Just a note there are 195 languages and dialects in the Philippines and a population of 106 million smiling and generous people. There are probably 30 to 40 singers that come to mind from the Philippines that are world class and that is only scratching the surface. Mori is the best in my mind but many will argue for others there with conviction. Do your own research on the internet and you can fill the next two years of reactions on the results alone. Good luck!
I absolutely love this reaction, this is exactly how I feel every time I watch this performance of hers. I’m not a singer but you really don’t need to be to understand that this girl, this performance is just absolutely, spectacularly flawless. I love this reaction, you absolutely nailed everything that I personally feel about this. Keep up the great work buddy, very interesting and joyous to watch you react to this.
She is the embodiment of what the fables call a Siren, she is just so insanely good it's almost unreal. If Music was to be summed up by 1 name hers would be it! Oh btw, she plays both guitar and piano as well. :) Another great reaction!!
For me this is the best cover I've ever heard... Sitting down, hitting high notes... She's not human at all.. She can give justice to any songs she covers even if it is ballad, pop, rock, Broadway etc.. She can whistle too👌 PHOENIX indeed.
Hi Charlie! Thanks for doing reactions to my only favorite young humble Morissette! She's ASIA's PHOENIX! and One of the BEST if not the BEST Vocals in the World today! as the World's Best Reactors Reactions to MORISSETTE! its because how She delivers a song so perfectly clean and clear dictions, enunciations of every word, consonants and vowels so Flawless Her vocal range amazing! Her latest single 'LOVE YOU STILL' made it to no.# 7 on Billboard. NEVER ENOUGH had already covers by many famous Artists in America & other parts of the World but Morissette version is the BEST so far!. Pls continue reacting to Morissette.Stay Safe! What an AWESOME reactions of Yours! It was an Standing Ovations when She perform that song Live in Her Concert in Canada, here in Laguna and in Middle East.
Morissette was born and raised in the Philippines. Fyi, English is our second language in the Philippines. Philippines rank 27th worldwide among 100 English speaking countries in terms of English proficiency. I am a big fan of Mori's as well and thank you for supporting her.
Her mother Tounge is a Filipino dialect called Cebuano, she was raised Cebu City Philippines .. primary school here has an english subject to tertiary. So that's why we Filipinos knows to speak English.
Morissette is pure Filipino, she grew up in Cebu. Tagalog/Filipino is our Language but the official language used in most schools is English, so majority of Filipinos speak English.
She grew up in the Philippines. And English is the second language in the Philippines. English language is the major method of teaching in school from kindergarten onwards. Most Filipinos speak and understand English.
Morissette has superb techniques when she sings but she doesn't compromise the emotion needed for the song. Singing for her is just breathing that comes naturally.
Charlie Smith, you have GOT to react to Love You Stil (Sunset Version, replete with cello) and Power studio version! She is amazing and very easy on the eyes, too❤
She's a world-class singer that needs to be shared globally. This is what sets her apart from other singer, her enunciation/diction. Her theatre background in Camp Rock Philippines has also helped her in her singing. Lastly, English is our 2nd language, Tagalog being our first.
Thanks for your very honest reactions.....Morisette is an example of a person who's tremendously enjoying when she sings and she gives all she's got to perfect a song!....But I'm just surprised that she isn't that famous yet in our country or elsewhere maybe it's because of the pandemic.....Takecare Everyone!
Morissette is 100 % pure Filipina. English is the second language of the Philippines and more than 80% of Filipinos can speak English. Waiting of your " Bryan magsayo" 🙏 reaction THE FINAL Countdown 😇
Really enjoy seeing your passion and how much her performances just hit you like a brick (this is from someone who only recently discovered Morissette and had an unexpected evening on Monday when I saw the Rise Up video for the first time and couldn’t stop gulpy ugly sobbing pretty much from the 2nd bar until I’d played it a good 20 times back to back 😬🤣. Literally felt like the Wish bus had hit me at 90mph and then backed over me for good measure.) Your comments about her performance and your perspectives and insights on music in general are bang on mate. Great channel!
Two things about Mori. For many years the Philippines had Spanish as (I think) a dominant 2nd language but eventually the country decided to use English as the number of Spanish speaking countries was getting smaller. Also, Cebu, where she comes from had an American military base and the Pinay/Pinoy seem to be quick learners, so the country went to English as the new dominant language to work with the Americans. I believe the change to English was from late 70's to early 80's, I'm quite sure your fans will correct me where I'm wrong. Also, Yes, you need to hear her Akin Ka Na Lang, good luck as you explore the Morissette rabbit hole
What i have noticed so far on UA-cam is that they these days seems to use a weird mix where they start a sentence with like 5-10 words in english and then switch to their native language. Always very weird when you start read this in comments and then suddenly have no clue anymore whats going on.
Mori is stunning in every thing she does. However, there is another version of this song that I think you would also enjoy. It is by arguably the other best female vocalist in the world. She is a South Korean named Sohyang. ua-cam.com/video/k5WqGIPjqtc/v-deo.html IMHO she, along with Mori and Dimash, make up a triumvirate of the best currently in the world right now. Another that you would find amazing is her stripped-down, acoustic, busking cover of 'I Will Always Love You' in which she "sings" the saxophone solo. ua-cam.com/video/DO845EqU3eE/v-deo.html
I think Morisette cover its better. The low notes of Mori are outstanding and probably she can equal Sohyang high notes...not all songs are good for Sohyang style....she its very good doing gospel style, in my opinion...I think Morisette its more open to any type of song...but both are incredible talented...and beutiful ladies.
@@joselajara1037 There things about all 3 that blow me away. I agree that Mori's lower register is a bit stronger, but there is just something about Sohyang's delivery that gets me every time. Starting with her performances like 'Hug Me' and 'Home' on the 'King of Mask Singer' right up to her most recent 'Begin Again' appearances such as 'Love Poem' and 'Ain't Got You', no matter the language I can feel her emotion. I agree that probably has something to do with her gospel roots.
@@alexanderabuan5499 I like to think of them as 1a and 1b. There is so much about each that I love, that I really couldn't choose. Kind of like my favorite a capella groups Pentatonix and Home Free.
Filipinos seem to have a unique gift of singing in English that is nigh indistinguishable from a native speaker. It's one of the reasons why they dominate the club scene thruout Asia. They sound like a band that grew up in Kansas. Don't know about before the 1960s, but even then they could be found in every American military club in Asia that featured rock bands for the young guys.
