After ADHD diagnosis I was put on this for a long while. 80MG a day. Then due to high heartrate I had to stop a while to get monitored. Like 3 months or so. 20 years prior to this I abused amphetamines for a year while living and partying in spain (so recreational / party - related). Back then I stopped when I got home. What I've always wondered about, is if addiction is very varied from person to person. Because amphetamines, dexamph and general ADHD medicines are SUPPOSEDLY extremely addictive. But it was not a problem to stop after a year's use while partying and working in Spain. 20 years later when diagnosed with ADHD, using a high dose of 80MG a day for many months before a break, I didn't have any issues stopping either. There is 1-2 days of withdrawal which sucks hard. Then a 1-3 day subsequent days of somewhat-sucky withdrawal. But I never had any real issues quitting. I'm guessing addiction problems and withdrawal is only if you heavily misuse them over a very - very long time? Because of me 20 years ago and now in recent times, quitting was a minor inconvenience.

Yeah I really don’t think it should be prescribed to people under 16 like let the brain grow and develop a little first, I’m fortunate I got to experience it as an adult rather than it being a negative experience of it being forced upon me
I literally just picked the prescription of this medication for the first time for my 8 year old son who’s both autistic and has ADHD. After watching the side effects I am not so sure I want to give it to him. My wife sugar try it on Saturday since he has no school and see how reacts to it.
I used it since i was 14 im now 21 . It helps your concentration and makes you feel calm . The bad side effects by taking methylphenidate is that it affects your sleep insomnia dry mouth. and on me it makes you feel slow like lazy you just want to lay on the couch watching your phone all day .
This drug was absolutely horrid for me. I metabolised the drug super quick. Suppose to last 8 hours and lasted about 45 mins. Then my anxiety went through the roof. It was that bad I could not leave the house.Never again will I touch these
Today i had a panic attack taking ritalin and i take ritalin for my adhd but today i was going to take my permit test but since ritalin makes anxiety worse i had to reschedule😔 my whole body was numb that even my stomach got numb
I have generalized anxiety disorder and I’m on biphentine. 20mg a day I think? It makes my anxiety stay to a minimum and I can’t feel fear for the things I’ve feared before. It seems to be making my focus better and I’m doing much better in class. My doctor doesn’t know if I have an attention disorder so I’m going back in around a month after starting them. Edit: I forgot to say I take it once a day around 7:30 in the morning and I sleep fine in the night.
I tried it once and in the end I got weightless legs (cannot say it in other ways, like when you are stoned), empty mind (I couldn’t actually think about anything), mouth talking directly with no brain filter, heart rate became fast for the first hour and the rest of the time I felt sleepy as fuck, yawning. Finally after 3 hours I was back in my mind and started feeling like everything became normal, but at all not a good experience. If I want to feel like that, but with more relaxation I’d just smoke some good weed.
I started methylphenidate in hs about 6yrs ago and I out of all of the others I’ve tried this one helped the most. I started taking it again as an adult now 24 about 6 months now and the only thing I’ve noticed is it does increase my anxiety and gives me dry mouth for the first hour or so that it kicks in but after it goes away. I haven’t brought this up to my doc Bc I hate constantly changing medicine. But now I’m thinking I should? Im on xr and take two 20mg in the am everyday. I don’t take breaks unless my pharmacy takes a week to get it in. I feel it’s helped me so much mentally so that’s why I’ve ignored those side effects bc of how much better I’ve felt.
I here you brother You’ve got to weigh out the positives versus the negatives Go with your gut For me the morning after tells me this is not the right drug for me. Amplifies negative thoughts and I feel like a college kid after a night full of uppers

A thorough history should be taken for indicators such as past or present drug abuse or addictive traits. Should also be under regular supervision but ofc nothing is perfect! I take ritalin

Methylphenidate is only addictive in a psychological way. You should consult your doctor asap if youre worried about addiction. Also the "honeymoon period" when you first start taking stimulants is great but please keep in mind that it's not gonna feel like that forever. The meds will likely become a more subtle help and it might still be hard. I still struggle with my adhd, even on stimulants. But they do help - they help form habits, stay energized, even develop self discipline and self control etc. Remember that it might also take some time to find the best medication and dosage. I wish you all the best

More or less the same. The main difference is strength and the effects. They are all used to treat adhd and add but for instance Ritalin is a cheaper version of aAdderall. Adderall is stronger but can also be a bit more problematic with side affects in some people. It’s always best to ask your doctor which one would be best because sometimes all you need is the cheaper version
Some people have a paradoxical effects from drugs where they do the opposite from what is expected. Must be a genetic mutation you have that others don't.
bruh I have ADHD and my medication (Medikinet) is in order. so I heard I could have schizophrenia symptoms when taking these WTF?!?!? you know, schizophrenia is an opposite of ADHD, and I realized it in ADHD, you have small interest even in important things and in schizophrenia, you have interest in EVERYTHING even RANDOM THINGS that are not important, and you're always sus about something, you can have HALLUCINATIONS!! so theoretically when having ADHD, there is non-permanent way to experience schizophrenia I guess and I hope I don't get it permanently :>

Did almost all my work in class( I want to know if other people report feeling like that or did I just get high and no benefits?)
Hella addictive, its very underplayed. Is it as addictive as dextroamphetamine? I'd say Methylphenidate's abuse potential makes it much more addictive . Adderall pills had 45m before onset and since the pills are diluted and overly large you can't effectively insufflate it. Methylphenidate has a much faster onset time (oral 10-20m) and 20mg Immediate release pills are very small and concentrated. Most of the drug gets absorbed when insufflated (60-80%) versus oral (~30%). When insufflated, notably more of the levo enantiomer gets absorbed. Even though the levo enantiomer is much weaker than the dextro, it causes a problem since the liver selectively breaks down the levo enantiomer over the dextro causing redosing to be more dangerous. Anyone who laughs at this drugs as 'kiddie cocaine' should know it has 3x binding affinity to DAT than cocaine and has a much lower lethal dose than cocaine.
I'm addicted to methylphenidate, I can't stop, I smash the pills and snort them, they make me feel good, I can't live without it, I have lots of anxiety when I don't have it, I don't know how to stop the addiction......
I'm really sorry you are going through that. Ritalin does cause withdrawal symptoms, please talk to a doctor to start decreasing the amount you take until you no longer feel that anxiety. I know it's easier said that done, but you can do it.
Honestly, as someone who is a recovering addict and still struggles, I’d suggest going to an inpatient rehab ASAP. I’ve been twice, but it does truly help.

I'm just starting to use this medication, which usually makes me feel calm and slow, but also not as much hungry.
I felt slow and sleepy as hell too, how can this be listed as a stimulant?
I felt like I was stoned
I already feel like that without the medicine and I have adhd 💀
Does that couchy sleepiness ever stop?

If I want to feel like that, but with more relaxation I’d just smoke some good weed.
do you remember your dosage?

You need to supplement under your meds. Read the book Finally Focused.

Can you combine this with adderal and vyvanse ?
i wouldn't, but adderall and vyvanse are the same. both have similar effects.
