Before Adderall, I was a mess, super incredibly forgetful and distracted, to the point that I thought I was crazy... After Adderall, I don't have 4 or 5 thoughts at the same time, just one, things don't desperate from my hands like magic, I CAN SLEEP... I got my first "A" in history because I can read without overthinking or getting sidetracked or bored. All this only with 10mg every morning.

Yee I failled first grade but look at me an all A's student and in student gov... though my doctor perscribes me a 18+ a 10mg pill in the mourning but I do go off of it that is I sleep like crazy for 3-5 days but after that we good

I dislike that I despise "normal me". Adderall makes me happier, more confident, more social, and generally a better person. People have said I'm different when on it and they like "adderall me" more than "normal me". This makes me think life would be totally better if I was "wired differently". I'm not addicted at all, but I now dislike myself and see myself as a lesser person in terms of potential and capability.

As a person with combined adhd currently taking adderall xr at 10mg, it effects me in such a way that promotes this sense of calmness yet I’m alert when need be. Being in the moment and taking in my surroundings is what I struggle a lot with too... It's like being a fish in an aquarium, you're here, and everything else is somewhere far away and you have to put in significant mental effort to notice it... Like I can talk to a person for half an hour and look at their face and then not remember what they looked like... It's like I'm just not focused enough to actually process what I'm looking at...

Adderall is not nearly as bad as these junkies make it seem. All these people that got addicted to it will make everyone believe it's the worst drug ever. But if you actually NEED it, it can be a life saver.

Adderall ruined my life and I’m prescribed.
Most people who get addicted BELIEVE they need it and get it from a doctor with a legitimate prescription. It's no different than giving housewives "mother's little helper" (aka speed) in the 50's, or professionals taking coke in the 80's.
People may "function better" on it initially, while it morphs the neuron transmitters in their brains. It was believed heroin and cocaine were "lifesavers" too.
Adderall is worse than opiods in some aspects. Atleast with opiods people will admit their addicted, but that's more of a physical drug. Adderall affects the brain, destroys lives, and people will still believe they "need" it.
It is no different than any other stimulant like cocaine or methamphetamine. The only people who can truly benefit from it, long term, are people who have been proven to have underactive parts of the brain, through ACTUAL testing like bloodwork and brain scans.

Adderall affects people with ADHD differently than those who don't have ADHD. It literally balances out the chemicals in an ADHD brain and essentially makes the person feel normal as opposed to "high". This medication is a life saver for a lot of people with ADHD and it sucks that the people abusing it or dying from overdosing are giving Adderall a bad rap.

I was diagnosed with ADD as a child, and In my early adult life I HEAVILY abused alcohol, caffeine and nicotine. When you have add/hd your body needs and wants something to constantly stimulate your brain activity. Hence why I abused so many stimulants and alcohol.
For those of you who don’t have add/Hd you won’t understand. When I say I feel “Normal” I literally mean you feel like i can comprehend, learn, and achieve everything my peers can. I don’t blow up in frustration because I wasn’t prepared, or I was extremely disorganized and screwed something up. My friends and coworkers have all noticed the changes in my conduct and demeanor. I’m a much more logical thinker and I have a will to get things done. Sitting idle is the worst thing you can do while on it.
However being overweight and having high blood pressure hasn’t made me feel to well on it in recent days. ( What brought me here ) But I have myself to blame on that one. It’s one of those things you have to ask yourself. Do I go though life like a kite soaring in a tornado? Or do I live life like normal people. I think if I get this weight problem and blood pressure under control, I’ll be all right.

Sounds like you should get evaluated for ADHD then.
The psychiatrist I have now is awesome. She was the first to suggest what she calls a "drug holiday" with my Adderall. This means not taking my Adderall at least once a week to prevent me from gaining a tolerance. I try to take two days off a week which I feel perfectly resets my tolerance. I hope this helps someone experiencing the frustration of increased tolerance causing decreased benefits from the medication.
I have severe adhd and an adderall prescription. Before the prescription I was generally distracted, had poor memory, irritable, anxious, depressed, and usually had sleep difficulties. Without even being prescribed a stimulant, most of my symptoms resembled stimulant withdrawl. Personally speaking, taking adderall when I wake up has enabled me to function almost like everyone else in work. My ability to fall asleep is ironically better. This is how adderall affects me, someone with a bad case of adhd. For others whose unaltered mental states don't resemble stimulant withdrawl, it makes sense that adderall on top of a regularly stimulated brain can get you high and , thus, more likely addicted.
I have ADD and have taken adderall for pretty much my whole life. It really is life changing. I tried to go off of it for a few years and I was a mess. Depression and anxiety started to become a huge issue and I started to abuse several different drugs that put me in the hospital a few times. Since getting back on adderall, I’ve been sober of illegal drugs, and feel all around so much better mentally and emotionally.

@@traceyevans2757 not at all, when using adderall i feel like the way one should feel, but when I was off of adderall, I felt off and my thoughts were always a jumbled mess and is why I started experimenting with other addictive drugs and it began to escalate into what it became.

That’s all and good but you know that adderall has amphedimines in it right? Amphedimine is an ingredient found in methamphedimine. Amphedimines cause hair, tooth, weight and sleep loss. I was prescribed 3 different antidepressants throughout my teens and 20’s. Most recently 2 years ago I was prescribed lexapro and Xanax. I talked with my doctor about my struggles and we decided to switch off of the Xanax and slowly get off the lexapro and we switched to Adderall XR. I’ve been on Adderall XR 20mg for over a year now and WOW has my life changed. I’ve gotten my real estate license and also have a 2nd job working 40 hours a week. Don’t be afraid to talk to your doctor about your daily life and what you struggle with. I waited too long myself.

If I hadn’t been diagnosed with adhd and given medication I don’t think I would have finished college. I was just so tired and unmotivated to do anything. Now I have a support group and a therapist who also has adhd and helps me manage it.
I manage a heavy workload while having ADHD. I’ve learned how to manage my ADHD w/o Adderall, it’s extremely difficult. Today was my first day on adderall, I was blown away at the affect it had on me. On the other hand, I had to force myself to eat and stay hydrated. I was also dry heaving and breaking out in a sweat.

There’s nothing wrong with being “addicted” to adderall I take it every day I don’t have ADHD but it’s not hard to fake and it makes me confident and happy and totally changed my life. The only downside is I have to take sleeping meds at night but that’s not a big deal.

It ruined my fucking life...don’t ever do it again because it will make you feel incredible for the first year or so but it’s all a facade, you won’t be able to give up on it and even when you’ve ruined your life you’ll still hope for the honeymoon period to come back again. For me as someone who does not have adhd who takes this drug I can say it gives me a craving almost to have to be doing something. This normally turns into typing every single one of my thoughts or to find a repetitive motion like rolling joints for 4 hours or something like that. Weird but I’ve never been so eager to finish schoolwork as well.

@@emdwg Just use it orally. It will last longer and have less of a crash all the while having the lowest chance of addiction. Never take more than 1 xr or 2 irs in a single day. it's an awfully slippery slope that takes enormous amounts of time to overcome.
Prescribed Adderall for ADHD. Extremely helpful for focus, but that's coming from someone with fucky default dopamine levels. The crash that comes after it wears off though is hell. Force yourself to eat something like a protein bar at lunch or breakfast, it helps
I take XR because that crash was so severe. I have no crash now and it’s been 10 years!

I'm 25 and was just diagnosed with combination ADHD the other day. I was likely overlooked as a child not only because i'm female but also because my brother has high functioning ADHD. Finally getting a diagnosis felt amazing. I'm excited to try adderall but also i'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. My brother had an awful reaction to adderall when we were kids. He either cried all day or said nothing. Even today when I told him that's what I was prescribed he told me to be careful. But I know everyone's body reacts differently to medication. I'm just so hopeful that I will get to experience what so many of these commenters are saying. 25 years is a long time to feel like this.

I need to get back on Adderall. Without adderall I'm full of ambition, but my mind is clouded and in confusion, can't start or finish projects. On Adderall, I'm turning ambition into reality and the productivity kicks up to get my projects done! If you've read the first part of my third book, all of it was written while on Adderall, but chapter 8 is a very slow trudge. 😭 I can't go on, literally the only thing that's going to get me through this book is getting back on adderall.

I guess it depends if you have an ADD brain or not. Before I ever took ADD meds, I would always take a lot of caffeine to calm down my mind and focus. When I finally took ADD meds, it was like turning down the volume on the radio. I felt calm and could actually focus.

I have to mention this, what about all of the positives that this medication does? Stimulants, particularly Adderall, are an incredible part of therapy for a human being who needs this type of medicine. Yes there are people who do need this & it helps in countless ways, life changing & saving. It also has over a 90% effective rate for those who are prescribed it. That is in a way miraculous! No other meds have that effectiveness. Adderall deserves much more respect than it gets due to all of those who take it who do not need it.
First of all no it doesn’t stfu I taken Adderall before in elementary school and it ruined my life terribly it got me to lose friends and gained weight after I stop taken them because I was super skinny and I was always depressed everyday after this drug I lose social skills I am unhealthy from this drug and I don’t think grades are worth it if it ruins your body

If you didn't react well to Adderall that is fine and dandy but not everybody is going to have the same experience as you. Aderall doesn't work like that. It is for people with adhs, so they can be in a "normal" condition. If you take aderall and you don't have adhs, it is not gonna have the same effects. Then if you still thinking you are more concentrated,etc, it's just the placebo effect. As a conclusion: you are just wasting money lmao.

Ima be straight up this is my 3rd day on adderall it’s so crazy how I relate to all these comments I have had adhd problems my whole life and my parents didn’t tell me I had it in these past few months I was depressed af I didn’t know what was wrong with me but then I found out I have adhd I went to the doctor and was diagnosed n I was prescribed 10 mg addys I saw this one comment somewhere that said My first 3 days on adderal was more productive than the last 3 years. I have ADHD and i take adderall and it does make you loose your appetite. It is such a difference that my parents know i didn't take my medication when i eat a lot. And because it makes your appetite small it does make you weight a lot less than you should. It’s been a life saver in my schooling and career as a nurse but here’s some health problems I have: (I still take it as my doctors have studied my body even 6 months off of it, so your negative POV is invalid) highly unstable hypertension for 3+ years, pretty heavily medicated insomnia the last 5 years (before being a nurse), just got diagnosed with PAC arrhythmia meaning my heart skips a beat which explains the chest pain I’ve had and hospital visits for uncontrolled high BP even though I’m on 3 different meds 4 times a day for it even without adderall. If I could function with one less med or problem in my life I WOULD. My primary thinks it’s genetic as heart disease is heavy, my cardiologist thinks it’s COVID related since it went to hell especially after covid last year but who isn’t blaming that if not more than adderall these days? Lol. POINT BEING-. You know your body but be aware what adderall does. Because these are known “expected” side effects! Shoot I had stomach ulcers and fatty liver disease my first year taking it. Adderall?or shitty luck and genetics? Everyone has their own reactions but if I were to blame adderall for all this I’d have a pretty easy fix right? Not. Lol. Be aware of side effects compared to long term effects and when to see a doctor. I still stand by the positives it does for me.

I recently started back on a much lower dose because my job is in jeopardy due to low productivity. I have an addictive personality, I was able to quit taking Adderall cold turkey. However, I used to feel like I could not function without it. I can function without it, just not as productively.

For some reason it’s been real hard for me to come to terms with the fact that this medication works for me. But it’s obvious that when I take it in 💯 a better person. my extreme forgetfulness and my inability to do anything that required constant attention made me to believe It was a problem with my carácter. I endured bullying name calling and and sorts of abuse from people because of my condition I have no addiction issues to any substance and this medication does not make me feel “high” I just feel normal and functional.
Adderall relaxed me. I didn't even know it was a stimulate. For me , I could finally sleep at the end of the day. Even in the morning, I take a dose and and fall into a wonderful sleep, and then wake up ready to start the day .

Pointless video. Many people with ADHD need meds to have literally minimal quality of life. Telling them to exercise and eat better is like telling a paraplegic to get up and walk. Focusing on the side effects is not helpful, especially since these are pretty much side effects of any controlled medication. Doctors shouldn't be prescribing it to people who don't need it, that's all.
I understand and don’t want to make you feel like I’m correcting you as that’s not my intent I just want to clear up that people with ADHD have very different experiences with these side effects. I’ve been taking 15mg XR for about 4 month now and I feel like my old self. But I’ve got some pretty strong side effects, I don’t want to eat, and whenever I stand up even after just bending down for a few seconds I almost pass out. Please don’t hate on someone who just wants to help people on their journey to be a better person.

It’s been working fine for me so far. I take 20 mg in the morning and a 5 mg around 2 in the afternoon for a quick boost for school. This is how it was prescribed for me, because my symptoms of ADD are bad. I only take the 5 mg when I have class and honestly I don’t take the 20 mg everyday. It is recommended to take one or 2 days off a week. I don’t feel addicted to it, I don’t have the urge to pop one and if I forget to take it one day, I won’t run back home to take my medication. I don’t know if I have a strong will or if drugs just don’t really do it for me. I’ve done countless drugs just to try them out and cut the curiosity and never have I been addicted. I was a regular weed smoker too and one day I decided it was doing more harm than good, because the high didn’t really calm my anxiety down anymore it would actually make it shoot through the roof and I stopped smoking with no problems and I don’t even miss it. My point is, I don’t find adderall addicting. I take it as prescribed just like any other med as if I were taking a multivitamin in the morning and that’s it 🤷🏻♂️

I have ADHD, OCD, severe depression, Anxiety and PTSD. I take 45mg.. XR30mg in the morning. Then at noon i take the XR15mg along with an ssri and hydroxezine... honesty with my depression it make me have energy to get up and stay focused with my house cleaning ritual and my art also applying the ssri i feel normal like everyone else. But the downside sometimes my body want to keep going and if im done cleaning and organizing and have nothing left to do i start playing with my hair or picking... i hate the OCD... second thing is sometimes i cant sleep.. ive gone 24hrs before trust me its scary and confusing felt concentrated but like a zombie lifeless and I'd cry for no reason.. ive been good to avoid it as its been a long time that happened.

I’m still feeling the after effects even tho it’s almost a decade later (edit note) I never abused the drug I took what I was recommended for years which obviously grew in Dosage along with other variants drugs to help treat.

I used these as a kid and thanks to my stupid teacher, she didn’t recommend them anymore Bc I was falling asleep in class, db. Ever since I struggled in school, but still made it. But that teacher will hear from me soon, finna give her a peace of my mind.
