I got my vaccine. We just had our second kid so may need a little time to get through the crazy first month or two, but I have my sights on some more in-person gaming this year at some point
A month or 2?! Give yourself 6 months with a new kid, Cameron! Don't rush it! Would love to see more Zone Raiders as well, when you do come back (and Dropzone, of course!)
@@andrewbeeching1240 If we play Dropzone, it will probably be with the v2 Beta rules. Our group hates what the new designer did to 2nd edition, and we don't want to play it. I would probably only be interested in playing a new Dropzone edition if they give Dave back full creative control.
@@cameronblume5108 I didn't realise there was a schism as a result of TTCombat taking over. I haven't played since Book 2 came out, but was starting to look at it again since the starters sets are fairly cheap. Shame. But i haven't seen any buzz from TTC in a long time, so is Dropzone dying out as a result of the takeover/rules changes?
@@andrewbeeching1240 It's complicated. My take is that I think Dropzone lost momentum because of the release of Dropfleet and how much of a toll that took on Hawk Wargames. Hawk also struggled with the logistics of manufacturing and distribution, and there were chronic supply shortages and problems making models available to players. Between the distraction at HQ and the difficulties of actually getting your hands on models, it stalled the great momentum the game had in its first few years. When Hawk sold to TTCombat, I think the idea was that TTCombat was good at production/logistics, which would be the perfect complement to Dave's strengths of rules design, CAD, photography, and story writing. However Lewis at TTCombat also insisted on taking a lead on rules design and decided to completely re-write the 2nd edition of the rules (a beta version written by Dave had already been in public testing for over a year, this was thrown out the window). This re-written Lewis version was what was included in "Battle for Earth". This re-write completely alienated all of the long-time Tournament Organizers and content creators (I used to do both), so the core of what remained of the Dropzone community collapsed when Battle for Earth was released. I know some people do still play second edition (there is at least a bit of activity on the main Facebook group), and some people like it, but personally I refuse to play or promote a game where I have zero faith in the designers.
Excellent video introducing the game. I've done a bit of reading, but watching the game played with clear explanations is so helpful. Hoping to play this soon!
Nice game and the table is awesome. Love to see more games played out. Next time it would be great to see the movements and dice rolls as well as team composition. Maybe start a campaign?
I know one of Tony's goals was to produce a game with a lot fewer special rules and exceptions compared to Infinity, but you would have to ask him what he was going for in the design. He's usually pretty quick to respond on Facebook.
Just bought my copy of the book (PDF) as well. Looking forward to trying it out!
Great rep! Thanks for sharing this! I hope more games of Zone Raiders are coming!

Dan Roberts Thanks! I’m really glad it was helpful
Sounds like my house. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for this battle report. Just got my book yesterday and I'm pumped up to try it!
Rules look good and useful video.
Thanks!

Thanks for the video!
need more!
yeah? what would you like to see a video about?
Nice video thanks! It seems similar to Infinity rule-wise, but with far less moving clockwork interacting rules. Am I right?

could use Hero Forge. Though the models are 30mm
@11:40 so cover works as both a modifier for shooting and for armor?
I would recommend pinging Tony Xiao in the Zone Raiders Facebook group
