I don't know if someone has tiddled with the orchestration, but I have never heard it so full-blooded, confident and characterful. Usually it just sounds like an "accompaniment" but under Mehta it carries the drama, with the piano as central character. And Lang Lang is a suitable hero.

Nice music. Shame about UA-cam sticking adverts in the middle of sections and not waiting until the section is finished. Ruins the listening experience. And they do this to force you to buy their app. So if you want to listen to music uninterrupted, then you have to pay them. Everything has turned into a greed driven money making scheme. A common theme in today's world where the corporations want to drain every single penny that ordinary people work so hard to earn. Sad and frustrating.
I like listening to Lang Lang better than watching him. His over dramatized (in my opinion) visual performances get in the way of my appreciating his musicality. His style of showmanship turns me off.
Ditto that. The first summer I was at Aspen Music Festival there was a fabulous pianist but I had to sit behind a post because watching his choreography made me seasick.
Lang Lang makes a terrible blunder in the opening of the second movement of the second concerto ; he has no understanding of the line and low; very turgic and mannered playing...the VPO and Mehta are too heavy and rather bland...
This is the best version of Chopin piano concerto 2 I've ever found, imo.
More people need to listen to this piece because it is so beautiful.

Yes and no! Very distacting BUT at times I see the child’s wonder cross his face, at other times transcends.
