This is a wonderful Piano Concerto by the great Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff (1873 - 1943) who had to leave his beloved Russia behind after the upheaval of the Revolution of 1917. All his music is so soulful, full of the Russian spirit. I also love his orchestral works and pieces such as the Midnight Vespers. One of my favourite composers and I think there are a few recordings of the great man himself recorded towards the end of his 70 year life. Lang Lang plays this beautifully I think, he really gets it. It is not a schmalzy performance at all. Thanks for posting this gem for us all to enjoy.
Lang Lang’s playing takes me to a higher place. A beautiful place where only music exists. There is so much feeling in every note. Brilliant in every way.
I am crying! I have never heard anyone play this piece so beautifully since Rachmaninov played it himself. His timing and sensitivity are breathtaking. The orchestra was superb.
This piece just makes me cry every single time i hear it… and Lang Lang’s interpetation torn my heart apart. I’m in tears. How the hell can people say Lang Lang isn’t a good interpreter? Please, go beyond your prejudices.
I am embarrassed to say that I am late to Rachmaninoff. But have practiced easier pieces. But stopped for a couple of years. Ready again. Maybe with a teacher. Thanks.
I find some of Lang Lang’s physical theatrics over the top, think that turns a lot of people off, but they are foolish to close their ears off to his brilliant and passionate sound.
This is my. Idea of heaven, Lang Lang and Sir Simon Rattle! Excellent., there are very good pianists around, but Lang’s interpretation is absolutely the best! I love this !! 👏👏👏❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
It's nothing but breathtaking. Lang Lang, this orchestra, the conductor Mr. Rattle. I'm 26 and love Rachmaninoff since I could discover this incredible heritage by the movie 'Shine'. You can't imagine the feeling of listening to THIS and walking through the snowy pavements of Sofia, which can be very nostalgic and romantic on evenings. The architecture, the language, the evening restaurants, the huge boulevards. In other ocasions, such as during daytime, Sofia reminds one of much uglier realities of poverty, poor economy, abused surroundings and untreated pavements. But those can be found in every city, if searched. Yet I want to highlight the addictive experience of bulgarian style.

Brilliant, magnificent, majestic - notwithstanding. In a few lone notes, Lang Lang can take us to the edge of the vast unknown beyond existence, in a realm of awe, beauty and humility.
Earlier, when I listened to Rachmaninoff's second concert, I was terribly angry that some of the audience coughed in the pauses. Only then did I realize that it was they who were struggling to hold back their tears and stifle their sobs. And it's not that the music is minor or depressive. On the contrary, it is like a May storm, cleanses the soul and causes tears of joy and delight.

Flo Hawkins yup, that second movement gets me everytime😭
Just Amazing playing of a beautiful piece
The ending is beautiful
Also wow for Simon Rattle - understood and always there to direct the beauty . Totally the best that could be.
Maravillosa la música en esta época tan dramática de guerra. Grande la orquesta y Grande Lang Lang. Vaya joya para youtube. Gracias por compartir
I just love Lang Lang’s interpretation
Perhaps one of Rackmaninoff's finest pieces of music excellent.
i didnt know he had large breasts too!?!?
This and the third concerto. Also his second piano sonata.
the best one i've ever hear
This is the soundtrack of my life!
Omg... perfection note by note
I love Lang Lang‘s interpretation.
Magnifica interpretación de un concierto que amo!!! Bravo Lang Lang!👏😊
Lang Lang is the greatest pianist of all time!
No, Rachmaninov and Horowitz were. Lang Lang is the greatest current pianist today, not for all time.
My Dad would play this . Always reminds me of him. Your playing it so beautifully.
Why would you choose to embed commercials in that type of video???... It's very disturbing.
Zen Audio I agree! It was so irritating!!! 🤢😤
Zen Audio right!! Put them at the beginning. Don’t interrupt the video with them. It’s the worst.
how can someone put the commercials at the beginning? Could you plz explain how?
If you download the video to your own file, the commercials disappear.
Money! of course.
Brug lige 40 min på denne fantastiske pianist - luk øjnene og lyt til den smukke- rørende og storladne koncert!
