A huge thanks to the boys for having me back on to start 2025 off with a bang! Let’s all take a drink everytime I say the word “like” and overdose on how much fun we had with these stories! Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉
it really is scary. his way of storytelling is so good that it's like i'm experiencing a movie. if pete was born thousands of years ago, he'd give Homer a run for his money when it came to orating The Odyssey
Pete’s like anti-Chris. He is always complementing the Boys. He’s humble as opposed to Chris’ character. He is very hyper and cheery unlike the grumpy British man. It is like they are yin-yang.
Are they pregnant? Where did they announce it? They must’ve not know he’d announce it before this episode is released, or they would’ve congratulated him during the episode.
I know this sounds crazy but as someone who's younger and slowly getting ready for university without having a clue in life, hearing Pete say that the last 4 years in his life have been the most fulfilling or just interesting so far at 40 really makes me realize how stupid my own worries about life are. I don't know if it's always been like this but especially with how the internet is nowadays, it feels like if you haven't got everything figured out by ~20, you're wasting your time. I have big dreams for sure and I don't know if I'll ever reach them but just hearing Pete's story and seeing how his life has taken a big turn with streaming at his age really eases my mind and makes me realize I have so much more time. Thank you.
As someone who got a late start to university due to loss bc of the pandemic as well as not knowing what I want to do, I felt the same kind of reassurance hearing all that you mentioned as well as Pete talking about being in university at 24. This episode was dually reassuring and hilarious def one of my favorites. Glad to know I'm not the only one who felt uplifted by his talk about this sort of stuff! Cheers to you, follow your bliss and chase those big dreams!
As someone that just turned 40? This has always been there (your life is over after 25 etc etc "Have kids before you're 30! QUICK! DO YOU REALISE HOW OLD YOU'LL BE BY THE TIME THEY'RE 18!?!") Ignore it all, my 30s were a blast because I stopped caring by the time I hit 27 and just started enjoying life rather than looking over my shoulder all the time.
I’m graduating college at 25 years old with a degree in theatre, three to four years later than my friends and cohort, some of which who are now graduating from graduate school or well towards becoming doctors or lawyers. I’ve got a ton of exciting opportunities ahead of me and I’m thriving in my hobbies and interests. I’m also flying across the country for a concert for the first time. You’re the first person to live your life, so you get to be the one to decide how to spend it.
I grew up in a city with strict Asian parents but I was still a latchkey kid lol A lot of my friends were raised like that as well. I don’t think it’s a universal city Asian thing.
I genuine heard on 7:20 that Connor said. "I flipped a couple of burgers, but that was not a real job. Just an abuse of simulation." had to hear that twice
Theres one clip of Pete and Connor drinking and they were talking how when Pete was in school, they isolated Pete, thinking he has a disability, and basically saying he's not gonna make it when he's older. The fact the he got out of there and has such a strong will is respectable. Just wanna express my appreciation for Pete, he doesnt complain even during long streams like in Connors trips etc, always brings a positive mood during the duration of every streams and in general a great positive person. My goat Pete💙
That clip was simultaneously hilarious and sad. ASD and ADHD were so poorly studied about back then, and the ignorance of the public schooling system ruined so many potential careers. I am glad Pete got out somehow.
@sayantanmazumdar3 yeah exactly, when I first heard it i was in shock, i wasn't really paying attention and had to rewing the clip, and by the time I heard what he said i was actually mad for him, because imagine if he didn't believe himself that he's normal and went on with the schools bs, the outcome would be so different, but it's the fact after all these bs he experienced in school and in general then, and to have a strong heart and will to not be angry and joke about says alot about Pete, because just that story alone makes me mad at his school
1:32:53 to paint an even bigger picture on how toxic "losing your virginity" culture was. During middle school I made great friend from day one, we hit it off immediately and were always chilling and goofing and shit. Then he lost his his virginity at like 14 and we lost contact almost immediately because he acted like he was sooo much cooler than me for it
1:33:25 recent high school graduate here -- the pressure is still there but it depends on the cliques you're around. if you're a theatre or band kid, no one cares, but if you're into athletics, it seems like that's all they can think about lmao.
In college now but for me growing up it was pretty stigmatized if you were having sex and lost your virginity, that’s my experience at least, especially if you were under 16 and definitely under 18 it was majorly stigmatized as well and if you were an openly horny mfer people thought you were just cringe and small brained
I’m a d1 college athlete and don’t really fit in with my peers. But I definitely see the pressure among my peers on the team. They’re like children and pester me about it all the time 😭. They’re so loud about it and the sex talk is non stop
Damn, that's crazy because back in my day, theatre and band kids were the horniest fuckers around, and many of them absolutely were fucking. Much to a lot of their regrets later on in life as I found out. The boys are right, though, it's nothing to worry about. Just don't waste your time after high school worrying about every moment-to-moment social thing like I did. Focus on establishing a stable lifestyle.
I don't often leave comments on youtube but for some reason it feels necessary today. So, I've almost exclusively seen Pete through other creator's content, I think beginning with the Abroad in Japan podcast maybe 3 or 4 years ago when one day it was suddenly "American Pete" and I was like hey where the hell is my non-american pete?? Since then he's been one of my favorite cameos. But....at some point during this episode I started to get worried that it was going to end soon because I was thoroughly enjoying the conversations. Pete is a great story teller and seems to find ways to effortlessly relate to the people around him. Not to be too parasocial, but I imagine he is just as compassionate and passionate in his offline life as well. Anyway, all this to say I think now is the time I begin to seek out some other American Pete content, cause at some point during this episode I started to get worried that it was going to end soon. The relief I felt when I saw that I was only 53 minutes in was palpable. Anyway, fire dynamic between you four. GGs
Immediately a contender for best guest episode of 2025. The first Pete episode was the first guest episode I watched all the way through, and he's one of my favourite repeat guests!
In Sweden we call what they describes their first kiss a washing machine kiss 😂😂 Bc the tongue goes around and around like clothes in a washing machine
Listening at work, while i was half asleep and i really just had toncomment about how when pete said he was 24 and still in college and never gonna graduate, i had to keep myself from crying lmao. Bolted straight up at work and grinned because look at him now. He graduated, has a career, and positive relationships. I dont know if he knows just how much hindisght he gave me when he said that but it gave me hope for the future Thanks pete!
I was listening to different older episodes while I was drawing, and then I clicked on this thinking it was one I'd already listened to because I love the Pete episodes. And then I found the greatest joy of all as I looked down and realized it came out today! :)
The “Christmas cake” thing is a really prevalent thing even in anime. For example, in alot of romcom anime, the sensei’s would be seen as “Christmas cakes” because they weren’t married. The ones that come to my mind are in Toradora and Snafu.
I'm 20 and when I was in high school there was definitely a massive culture around losing your virginity as fast as possible. When I saw one of my friends from school a year after leaving the first question he asked after 'how have you been' was 'are you still a virgin?'
I guarantee most boys who graduate high school graduate as virgins, the majority didn't even have girlfriends. So this whole expectation comes across as really fake.
There's been so many good guests, but I will always love the Pete episodes, he's such an amazing story teller. The 2 hours feels like 20 minutes while I sit there with a big smile. What a legend of a guy
The fact that he actually did the Mogging with the added hand gesture to signal 'pause' that he learned from that one kid is crazy 😂 the original doesn't have the 'pause' gesture but this goes harder
37:53 when you realize Finland is basically America in this regard lmao. Basements, garages, sheds almost always have separate freezers especially in the countryside to store berries and meat from hunting etc
i have to say this is the best episode of trash taste i ever seen!! the level of the stories (not only from pete) were super nostalgic, relatable and amazingly fun!! the garnt kiss story kill me and couldnt stop smiling the whole episode!! thanks for just telling amazing stories guys 🤩🥳
1:33:40 As a younger person, there is not that pressure at least where I’m from. People lowkey just be doing their own stuff, and if there is someone who’s trynna put pressure, they’re just seen as weird

44:18 One of the reasons this is a feature, is because commercials tend to broadcast at a louder volume than the TV programs. Another reason is to make the volume uniform between different tv-programs. Sadly it also ruins the sound dynamics of the programs themselves.
Man I always get sad at the end of Pete episodes, cause it says 2 hours but I feel like it’s been 20 mins just having a blast listening to him tell stories
1:33:25 As a junior in high school currently their definitely is still that pressure to do it and date however I feel it is more a quit social pressure that everyone knows is their rather than an outspoken social pressure!
1:33:21 most of the pressure I've gotten to lose my virginity has actually been from older people still having those kinds of expectations to lose it early. although, a lot of people I know have been messing around like that since ~15 so it really depends what environment you're in. those people who do end up doing that earlier on also mess around with drugs like weed and things like that more often than not, which isn't a bad thing and I actually think is fine as long as they're safe and not abusing it. on the flip side, I have friends who are totally innocent in that regard and don't even use the Internet, so they definitely don't experience that societal push to lose their virginity or even date. you never hear about their perspectives due to them not being online which is kinda crazy.
1:33:24 Highschool student here!! I'd say there definitely is one from what I could tell when talking to guys my age or hearing them talk with eachother. I'm a girl so we have a more wary approach when it comes to that, especially since in my country a lot of women are still treated like the "worse" version of people and are constantly being taken advantage of. But anyways, I'd say the pressure is still there although it might be smaller now and maybe the older highschool students don't feel it anymore. I'd also just like to add that even if there isn't that much pressure over losing your v-card there 100% is one with dating but that might be normal for highschoolers
I went to college in Oregon and I loved the bus system and walkability. Moved backed to Texas and I feel so locked in. I can’t walk around, can’t just take a bus. Gotta pay 1,000s for car insurance and stuff.
As an American i can confirm it is a vibe and need to want the coolest basement. I am currently saving up to fund a dig out of a basement in my home. Also, in terms of separate large freezers at least in my experience we were raised to always have at least 3 months worth of food on hand in case something happened (whether it be frozen meat for when price increases or scarcity, or canned food - this rule really came in clutch when my uncle who I was talking care of and living with passed away while my partner and I had just finished up school and were still looking for a jobs as my uncle paid for the house and food at the time.). There is something about America where we always think everything is gonna go to shit at any moment so we prepare. We also often had a 2nd fridge just for drinks.
As a fellow American, hard agree on the basement thing. My grandparents' house had a basement but my parents' house did not unfortunately. I'm not a dude but the primal urge to have a mancave is not bound to gender lol
Omg yes I remember growing up in the early 2000s we had the scholastic book fairs! We would have pizza parties as well! I miss those times everything is so different now. Such a nostalgic feeling ❤️
I like how is he so apologetic towards saying funny stories. Like bro take your time you are so hilarious and fun to listen to huge thanks for sharing these nice and funny stories
18 year old from the US here. The pressure to lose your virginity in high school is certainly less than when y’all were growing up, but it still exists in the background. I’m a college freshman now and am the only one of my guy friends who has never dated someone. They never said anything about it so it’s not so much an external pressure as it once was. I would say the high-school and college hook-up culture certainly still exists, but I find that I am much more interested in trying to start properly dating someone than I am in losing my virginity.
the skill pete has to tell a story in a way that's so interesting is insane. i feel like i could spend a whole day non-stop listening to his stories and not get bored once. great episode, thanks pete for entertaining!!

Isn't it kind of silly because most boys don't even hang out with other girls, most boys only ever talk with other boys
As a senior this is 100% true
There was none in my experience.
In fact, the social situations served to do the opposite.
Most of the pressure has been from older people
2:43 not having joey's face for that laugh is a war crime
The 1st kiss stories was the best segment in a while
1:33:21 most of the pressure I've gotten to lose my virginity has actually been from older people still having those kinds of expectations to lose it early. although, a lot of people I know have been messing around like that since ~15 so it really depends what environment you're in. those people who do end up doing that earlier on also mess around with drugs like weed and things like that more often than not, which isn't a bad thing and I actually think is fine as long as they're safe and not abusing it. on the flip side, I have friends who are totally innocent in that regard and don't even use the Internet, so they definitely don't experience that societal push to lose their virginity or even date. you never hear about their perspectives due to them not being online which is kinda crazy.
This wins 'best episode of 2025'. I'm calling it right now.
I'd also just like to add that even if there isn't that much pressure over losing your v-card there 100% is one with dating but that might be normal for highschoolers
the episode so good It went from my second monitor to my main monitor
I went to college in Oregon and I loved the bus system and walkability. Moved backed to Texas and I feel so locked in. I can’t walk around, can’t just take a bus. Gotta pay 1,000s for car insurance and stuff.
the date story was insanely funny, the cousin is diabolical for doing that 😂
My favorite guest of any podcast ever. the goat
'This guy's so old...'
Me sitting here older than Pete. lol
I fucking love Pete man. Starting 2025 with a Pete episode is the best way to start the new TT year.
PETE HAS A REPEAT!! Congrats to Pete and Yuki!!! You're both gonna be amazing parents
wow look one of my top 3 fave episodes , along with the other 2 Pete Eps lol, but for real , i could listen to him tell stories for hours on end lol
Omg yes I remember growing up in the early 2000s we had the scholastic book fairs! We would have pizza parties as well! I miss those times everything is so different now. Such a nostalgic feeling ❤️
Usually I split an episode and listen to them on separate times, but when it's a Pete special I run that twice
Pete has such legendary stories, get this man a third gigachad award plz
This is the 1 episode but is the best of the year so far, laughed my ads off
Pete has such a boomer vibe learning about what kids are into today
It's such a dad behavior
Dude that date story from Pete is wild, I would've died the moment the girl found the condom in his jacket lmao
seeing pete is therapy lol
I like how is he so apologetic towards saying funny stories. Like bro take your time you are so hilarious and fun to listen to huge thanks for sharing these nice and funny stories
The Pete episodes are my favorites ❤️ haven't tuned in for a while. But have a lot to catch up on!. Great start to the new year with the gigachad
Pete couldn't make it to 5mins without mogging 😂
18 year old from the US here. The pressure to lose your virginity in high school is certainly less than when y’all were growing up, but it still exists in the background. I’m a college freshman now and am the only one of my guy friends who has never dated someone. They never said anything about it so it’s not so much an external pressure as it once was. I would say the high-school and college hook-up culture certainly still exists, but I find that I am much more interested in trying to start properly dating someone than I am in losing my virginity.
18:17 I have to admit that is true. I just slept to the realization that I have been playing metaphor for 90% of the day... for 4 days straight 🙃
@1:28:37 Love the description of Chris's reenactment of the Protestant man in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life
damn pete should have a movie about his life
the skill pete has to tell a story in a way that's so interesting is insane. i feel like i could spend a whole day non-stop listening to his stories and not get bored once. great episode, thanks pete for entertaining!!
So not only am I lucky enough to get a Trash Taste episode on my birthday, but Pete is the guest?! AWESOME 🎉😁🎂✨️
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎈🎂
Happy birthday 🎉

Why are the Pete episodes always 10 minutes long?! It feels like it! It's just so much fun listening to him that the time flies!
Next one will be with PremierThree
That was the shortest 2 hours iv ever experienced. How does this man still have insane stories iv never heard.
Good start to the new year with Pete! Grats on the baby news! 🎉
Yuki got it right, Perth is great! 😂 Nice blend of city and country, dont know bout this disrespect we get. 🥺
Episodes with Pete are immediate bangers, and this helped me get home thru a shitty snowstorm home. A+ Material guys, thanks for the content.
I don't have awkward stories of early dates because of my raised baptist debuff.
38:04 we have that in Sweden as well. Very common to have a huge basement with a freezer that's bigger than the bathtub
All the Pete episodes are sooo soo good! Thank you for blessing us !
Listening to Pete’s stories and chatting with the boys, literally cured my horrific hangover.
1:33:31 Bro I'm from India, there is a pressure to not loose your virginity before marriage
