Yamaha 30HP Outboard Overhaul Part-2. Tricky Piston Install.

- In this video we will go over what the machine shop did for us and begin to install the new Wiseco .30 over pistons along with installing the rotating assembly in the block. Please like and subscribe with us. I would greatly appreciate having you with me on my channel.
Today I put all 3 new pistons on my new crankshaft. I really liked your strategy of cutting the old wrist pin and using it to keep the pin dowels in, however i didn't have a tool to cut my old wrist pin. Instead I inserted the new wrist pin, and put all the pin dowels in. I then put the permatex ultraslick inside the little hole on the rod above the pin dowels and rotated the wrist pin until the ultraslick was all the way in. I repeated this about 4 times. Now that the dowels are thoroughly coated in ultraslick, I put one of the plate washers flush into the rod, and the pin dowels will poke out slightly on the opposite side. I then removed the wrist pin, and all the dowels stay in place due to the ultraslick coating. Next, I inserted the wrist pin into the new piston just enough to put the second plate washer against the inner wall of the piston. Then i carefully aligned the wrist pin with the rod and was able to push it all the way through. It was finnicky but i got all 3 pistons done in just over a hour. Just waiting for my new crank case. It should be here by the first week of september, if everything is on schedule.
It’s tricky to do sometimes. I like to use the old pin I cut because it will hold both washers and the needle bearings till you push the new wrist pin in. Hope your build goes good.
that wring pin trick is a good one. Getting all 3 in the holes at once is pretty annoying, the old merc inline 6s are even worse!

What is in parts number for this piston and do wiseco have oversized
What did the machine shop charge to bore and for the pistons if you dont mind. Thinking my yamaha may need a rebuild soon
They changed me $30 a hole.
I have a 1989 30hp evinrude half of my spark plug is clean other half is black what does that mean
@@dustincribb8616 Running rich on the darker plugs and running lean on the lighter plugs. Have you rebuilt the carbs? Only use OEM kits. I’ve found that the cheaper ones one eBay and Amazon can cause reliability issues.
@@mtwz71 I have two spark plugs. It’s like somebody divided each one and half one dark side and one side on each plug.
@@dustincribb8616 Okay, are they same type plug and is the gap the same? Also, it appears if one side is dark and the other side is not. That make me think there’s a ignition or coil pack problem. Check the fire.

12:08 What does this oil injection ring do? Is it connected to the precision blend system to keep the bearing oiled?
That ring is a helix cut gear that is used to drive the oil pump on the side of the block that supplies oil to the intake and cylinders.
where did you order the pistons from?
The machine shop that I used to bore the cylinders with, they were a Wiseco pistons dealer. They ordered the Pistons that I needed through them.
