  • Peter suffered from tremors since his teenage years. As his symptoms worsened and the uncontrollable shaking made everyday tasks like eating, drinking and dressing nearly impossible, he turned to focused ultrasound. Since the treatment, Peter has a new lease on life and enjoys getting back to the activities he once enjoyed.

Wow. That's a huge improvement. I've had essential tremor all my life. I can remember back in kindergarten trying to carry my lunch tray with the soup on it and a cup and it shaking all over the sides, etc. I'm 53 now and it's pretty bad. It's obvious to people when they see me try and eat most of the time. Drinking out of a tall glass - or stem glass is not going to happen. Trying to get my makeup on is hard - but I manage. I am not interested in the deep brain stimulation. But this looks promising. When did this start? Do you belong to any support groups? I'm unfortunately in Savannah, Ga., used to live in Annapolis, Md., but would love to hear more about how you are doing and what it all entailed.

Sir, Do you know how much does the treating cost ? I really wonder it.

My experience is same as Sunny's. Had it done at OSU also, using Insightec's ExAblate device, developed by Elbit Imaging.. Miraculous improvement. Virtually instant...no recovery time...best of all, no cutting, drilling or blood. this will quickly replace DBS for most patients. It has changed my life in so many ways.

I see you're from another country so I don't know how much it would be there. Many countries have had this available longer than the U.S. I have heard estimates of about $40,000US with no insurance, in America. It may be less in parts of Asia or parts of Europe.

I am definitely going to discuss it with my dr. I have lived with this for years and its was bad but not so extreme that I am disabled. I can't draw blood anymore (work) etc., (people tend to run when they see a needle in my hand coming at them), lol, but I didn't want to even consider dbs because I've heard good and bad stuff. I heard people say its bad when the batteries go low, etc. So this may be the answer. I hope we have it here in the us. Cripes! THANKS FOR responding!!!!!

I've also had an essential tremor my entire life, it's getting worse as I get older. Last year I was fired from a job at a cafe because I was too slow, due to having to cater for my inability to keep a tray/coffee cups on saucers steady like others.
