I totally get what you're saying, but good teams make the playoffs while top QBs win rings. The things that Goff does well are highlighted in this particular system (thanks to a very good O line), which gives him added value. I'm on your side if you don't believe that Goff is a top QB, but the Lions seem to believe that, and he's at least in the top 10 conversation. You generally need one of those guys if you want to win a championship. Bonus points for being a fan favorite.

I've been a Lions fan for coming up on 55 years. They have broken my heart more times than I can count. For years, fans griped about not being able to find a QB to bring out the best in players like Billy Sims, Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, or Calvin Johnson. Stafford put up numbers but when it really mattered, in the playoffs or games the team needed to win to get in the playoffs, the team lost. Was that all him? No. But the bottom line is Goff has delivered in those situations more than he has failed. Results matter. This is his team. Whatever they're going to become they're going to become because of guys like him, Sewell, St. Brown, Gibbs, and La Porta. Three of those five are locked up and the other two are on contracts that won't need to be worked for a couple years. Coming into 2024 the Lions have the second best odds of making the SB out of the NFC? If you would have told us fans that back when the team was 1-13 under a new coach just two years ago most of us would have told you you were daft in the head. Goff made a lot of that happen. He's been through the fire with these guys. This is his team, now it's official. Just go win that damn Lombardi Jared. I guarantee you will learn what Sparky Anderson said about Detroit fans. Once you win for us we love ya for life. Congrats young fella. Now get er done.

Now hopefully we have quality DB's the defense can be just as aggressive. Defense is the only reason they weren't in the Superbowl last year.

When you have a crowd of people chanting “Jared Goff” anywhere in Detroit, what choice do you have?
You’re young.
I remember in 2003 they opened the first draft party at Ford field. They did it because they were going to draft this amazing in state player. They were offered ridiculous riches for the pick. But the GM wasn’t budging.
Some of us quietly said “there’s a better guy playing the same position” and wanted him.
But not afraid the team walked right up to the poutine and selected Charles Rogers (over Andre Johnson).
Who is by the numbers the biggest bust in league history.
Sometimes the fans aren’t a really good judge of football decisions and PR moves need to be taken out of the equation.
The better thing the Lions should have done is look at what the Rams did with Goff. This is very similar.
And we know what happened.

Their team is stacked more than almost any other team besides maybe San Fran. He put up great numbers last year but also had one of the best offensive lines, best run game, amazing te and receivers. A lot of other QBs in the nfl could put up great numbers on a team that’s stacked like a brick house. As a Rams fan I’m happy for him. That trade is one of the rare trades that literally every side is incredibly happy with. Stafford..very happy / Goff… Very happy / Rams… very happy and got a superbowl out of it / Lions… very happy and got a NFC title game and a bright future out of . Im a rams fan and he is a good qb he is very taleted throwing the ball and he will get you in the playoffs if he has a really well built team to protect him.
