    Thank you for showing people you don't have to disassemble the entire steering knuckle and break that pinch bolt to do this job.
    Watched the video this morning, changed my hub, tie rod end, and brakes on that one side (going to do the other tomorrow, just brakes) in 2hrs. Blown away at how easy this was. No hoist.

    Great video, thanks. Trying to figure out on my own a4 if bearings are gone. Slight movement (1-2mm) when I “shake” wheel L-R. No bearing noise when spinning. Do you think this Is this just play or start of wear? Also would a 6tonne press be “big” enough to push the bearings into the hub? Thanks.

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah that’s play in the bearing , it should be ok to press the new bearing on

    Haynes says those four 12mm spline bolts should be 80nm plus 90 degrees. Think I got 45 degrees on one of them before it started to round. 80nm was hard enough. Hopefully your "good nip" is enough that my wheel doesn't come off. Sure it'll be fine with that axle bolt holding everything together.

      Thanks for the comment , yeah you can but the decent quality ones are a fair bit extra and we have a decent press so not hard to swop over 👍

    • @diydaly

      Just had a good scan through autodata but can’t find the torque settings, you are supposed to renew all 6 bolts and the skims though 👌👍

      Sorry I noticed predictive text changed it! It was meant to say shims.. there’s 6 bolts & 3 shims that should officially be replaced.. I’ve done them plenty of times in the past without replacing them tbf though

    Cant really slip the cv alxe or prop shaft whatever you boys call them that goes into the hub far enough back to get a socket in there good. Almost ready to angle grind off the bolts and whack in my nee hub and bearing. Anyone else have this issue?

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  2 роки тому +1

      There not usually bad , is the shaft siezed in the hub?

    • @andrewg2322
      @andrewg2322 2 роки тому +1

      @@diydaly No there not siezed in i took out the axle bolt and was able to push the axle out with a screw driver some. I noticed your acle seemed to pivot more at the tire side cv boot. Mine doesnt have much play but it feels like its on the spline still. I had this apart for days and was struggling to get a triple square drive in there at the right angle, and no room for a ratchet. Guess time to take off the knuckle pinch bolt gods wish me luck

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  2 роки тому +1

      @@andrewg2322 hmm bit hard to say with out seeing it but if you cant access it sounds like you’ll have to.. them top pinch bolts can be abit of a nightmare🙈.. I find now the best way is to undo the nut .. try get it moving .. if it doesn’t budge I put enough pressure on the bolt head till it snaps off .. then wind the nut on (thus pulls the rest of the stud through) sometimes I also need to use an air chisel .. to try push it through

    The multitooth bolts at the rear of mine are sized and wont move. Heat, fluid everything right they wont budge and they're just slipping out nearly rounded them. Really bad designed fixing the replacement come with 6 tooth torx bolts much more robust.

    • @diydaly
