- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- Day 20.
We made the move to Big Sandy and were greeted by four guys from New Zealand.
That was cool!
Bret made a test cut and only minutes later let us know it was good to go.
We’re back to spring wheat and it’s pretty good cutting…basically flat.

I have been following you since you had your own independent harvesting operation on UA-cam. When you sold the New Holland and shut that business down I felt bad for the both of you as I could see you loved it. This job you have now is such a good fit for the both of you! It allows you to do what you love and still be in the business. You can see how happy Jim is just being with his new farming family and shooting the bull with everyone. and I have to imagine they love having the both of you. Finding two very experienced combine drivers is a great fit. It is a win win for everyone.
Yes I guess they wanted to scale back if you remember a few years back they where chasing acres when crops are poor, fuel time and energy moving all the kit takes a toll, plus parting with a quiet new machine while it still carry’s a good value made sense be sad to see Frank be left behind hope he’s looked after well in his new home, they would have Jim and and Tracey spitting feathers otherwise,I wonder where Pete is.
What a operation thank you for I appreciate that you guys do
Thank you so much!
Thanks for another wonderful day in the Montana wheat fields!!!!!! Tracey and Jim my heartfelt gratitude for being able to enjoy this beautiful harvest days with all of you!!!!!!
The video today was so interesting with lots of variety. Not only harvesting but getting ready for the move to other fields and the move itself and then bring co-located from the home farm. I saw the SUV come around the supper hour and I figured that was supper and sure enough it was. Tracey you said the locally prepared hamburgers were delicious, made me hungry, ha!!!!
Nice looking wheat fields once again. My sincere compliments to Jessie for keeping up with four combines with that grain cart, not an easy task. She did great!!!!!!
Beautiful country once again where you moved to. Tracey your video was, once again, just magnificent and showed the move and the new countryside wonderfully!!!! Just am so honored to be riding along.
Tracey I appreciate your kind words about my being under the weather. Today is some better and watching your harvest videos most certainly helped pick me up and get going again!!!!
I want to commend Brett and his management team for the hard work of putting all of this together, let alone engineering a move. Lots of pieces to put together to make it all work for everyone!!!! Looks like a well oiled machine to me for sure!!!!👍
Thought it was interesting that you met these gentlemen from New Zeland, I believe you said, (spelling is probably wrong) that came because of watching the videos. I am sure that was quite the experience for them. Small world sometimes.
Well, I guess once again I had better stop typing and not wear you all out-ha!! My heartfelt thanks for another wonderful video and all you do to provide these harvest days to us!!!!! You all take care and be safe!!!!
Tracey and Jim appreciate both of you more than you will ever know. These days of harvest videos are just fantastic!!!!
My blessings to you both and everyone on the crew!!!!
See you tomorrow!!!!
The Iowa farm boy. Steve
😊😊👋👍🙏💕💕🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you, Steve, for your kind words. And, I’m glad to know you are beginning to feel better again.
I was so proud of Jessie and how she was able to keep us all going. Not one combine sat still - ever. She’s a trooper!!
See ya tomorrow!
When I come in at evening time and fire up my computer I know I have your videos to watch and enjoy. The downside is I know your season will end. I will then go back and rewatch.
❤️❤️thank you!
I hadn’t ever watched a vlog until I retired 2.5 years ago and now when it’s bitter cold in the winter or horribly hot in the summer afternoons I look forward to watching your videos along with 2-3 other agricultural related folks that have similar videos. I really enjoy the Montana videos since the scenery is great and it reminds me of Wyoming which is where my brother has lived since 1975. We used to take our horses to Wyoming about every other summer to ride and enjoy the beautiful scenery and cooler temperatures. We aren’t able to do that anymore since over the years I’ve had 4 knee surgeries and my wife had a bad horseback riding accident a few years ago, but we still enjoy going just for the scenery and cooler temperatures. Since my brother has retired he lives full time at about 9,400 feet in the Snowy Range and it’s great place for a Kansas flatlander like myself to go in the hot summer months. My aunt, uncle and her father in law had a custom combining operation for years and it brings back a lot of childhood memories. Every year they would leave as soon as school was out with their 4 boys, 2-3 Gleaner combines, trucks and a converted school bus for living quarters. Normally they would return home about 3-4 days before school started, but once the boys graduated they cut until late September to mid October. Your videos are very well done and as far as I’m concerned they’re better than most all of the vlogs that I’ve seen. Thanks for what you and Jim do so the rest of the world gets to see how the agricultural sector takes great pride in making sure that the crops are harvested.
Wow! This was a fun comment to read! Thank you for your kind words. I do enjoy telling the story of the harvest. I always have. Some time when you’re really bored, you should visit my blog - nebraskawheatie.com. You might enjoy those stories. And pictures. I’d love to visit the Snowy Range - especially when it’s hot.
It's great to see some fellow New Zealanders/Kiwis visiting my favorite harvesting crew, thanks for the awesome videos Tracy🙂
I agree. I've done the custom harvest USA a few times and what I like about Tracy's videos is how she explains and what she shows is exactly what I experienced to. Bang on. Small world. Great gear, great farm, great people, great fun. Thanks again from
New Zealand.
THANK YOU, Roger! ❤️
Great guys!! 😊
Tracy thank you ever day you bring your A game so we can enjoy your show and today was another fine video it always makes me smile just watching that well oiled machine Thanks for the ride
❤️
Thanks for riding along.
I vote Jesse the grain cart driver of the year !!
Her smile would certainly brighten anybody’s day….
@@2_dog_Restoration - I would vote that too.
Tracy, you're a natural with your videos! Such beautiful country ❤️!😊
Thank you so much!
God bless the Cart driver. The first one to catch the Dickenson when it goes bad, but deserves all the praise when it goes smooth. Been there! God bless you all and safe harvest
A good cart driver is like sunshine on a rainy day! 😉
Mind blowing views as for Jessie love to hear the chatter she will be missed, also 🤩❤the bit of advertising with the young guy sporting a blue shirt .
👍🏻
Your videos are so peaceful and relaxing to watch. You do a great job putting them together!! My family enjoys the beautiful scenery from the fields to the mountains and everything in between. Seeing you all working the combines and the other harvest equipment is a beautiful sight too.
Thank you so much!

I list track of you forcouple years thats when you had the new holland combines not sure exactly
Why i lost track of your videos .but when saw you were back i watched them again .
Thank you for the updates when you able to provide them.❤❤
Thanks for being a part of our journey!
Good job keeping the combines happy Jesse.
NO KIDDING! I was proud of her!
Another beautiful day in Montana thanks Tracy and Jim have a wonderful day 🙏❤
Wow!! What a spectacular video Tracy! One of your best, if not the best ever! The music you chose to put with it made it so relaxing and peacefull. (I've watched it three times). There are soo many elements to it. An early start in the morning, the two hour move to Big Sandy, socializing with subscribers from far away, Jesse n Tracy playing "drone games", (haha. gotta make some time for fun too!),then onto combining, and then ending the day with the combines lined up and a beautiful sunset in the backround. A full day for all. Spectacular footage with your phone on the trip from the farm to Big Sandy. Between all the trucks, the combines, the headers and service truck, and Jesse and the grain cart, that had to take a lot of planning and coordination to make that all go so smoothly. Speaking of Jesse, that there is quite the young lady. If there was a NASCAR for grain cart drivers, she would be the points leader hands down! Some young farmer better latch onto that girl and treat her with the respect she deserves... God bless you all for what you do. Please stay safe out there! Question: Does Brett have a bin site at Big Sandy or is there a grain terminal near by that they can haul to right away?
Another gorgeous sunset -- one that would be difficult to describe and do it justice1
I love this channel.
Thanks for another wonderful day in the beautiful country and telling us about the bears paw mountain. A lot of history in the area. 1877 battle of Bear/s Paw.
Dave was a history teacher (Montana) so he’s told me some of the history.
Tracy, you and Jim were really blessed were you found this crew to work with. Thank you for sharing your experience.
They found us. So thankful!!!
You are all such a blessing! Thank you Lord for this entire crew!
Thank you so much for another amazing video ❤
👍🏻❤️
Well what turned out as a bad day, turned out good with the move. Then some good lookin spring wheat. Looked like great weather, and the at the end of the day, a good sunset. See you on the next edition of Montana Wheat Harvest 2024. CYA
❤️😊
Roading equipment is always a interesting time with traffic. The combines kept your cart driver Jessie a busy girl today. Enjoy watching you knock out those acres, a ballet of machines. Jim and you have a great day. Be safe
Beautiful countryside!!
Love the drone chase!
🤣🤣
Some awsome scenery again!
Your videos are nice and peaceful, thank u👍
Love to see the young ones doing such a great work
And they sure are!
👍👍hopefully your got a lot more to harvest so the daily videos keep coming 😃
Great to watch! It must have been a long day, you had to travel two hours to get there but also had to get back. Amazing Jesse can keep up with four combines! It was funny to see you try to catch the drone. Lots of greetings again!
another great video have had a great vacation and not spend much money thanks Tracie and Jim God bless.
Thank you Tracy for yet another wonderful days harvest and you all working hard to get the harvest in safe and good and wishing you all a nice nights rest and sleep and watch you all again tomorrow and i remember my first days in the combine and was the old red Massey Ferguson with no cab and i think it only had a 10 feet header and i used to sit on the old tool box and another day my older brother was carting wheat and he was riding on the combine on the tool box and there was a young Hare came out the wheat and run down the row they just done and he jumped of and chased the hear and got it and he brought it home for me to have as a pet and we fenced of a pen in with our chickens and my brother hade me a hutch for it see you again tomorrow
I love your videos
Thank you!
When we were thrashing wheat one of my favorite suppers was bacon and mayo and tomato sandwichs with tea and chips.
And corn on the cob 😊
Beautiful Montana👍👍👍👍👍Montana wheat is so CLEAN zero weeds LOVE IT
The Bears Paw………….Very historical place in regards to Chief Joesph and the Nez Perce Tribe.
I cut wheat at the big sandy area when I was on harvest run in the late seventies, for the Butt's brother's
👍🏻
Great area to cut wheat!
Thanks to you and the crew for the videos!! Enjoyed the ride.
Good video
❤️
Jesse is definitely earning her wages and is doing a great job! 👌
She was on the ball all day! I was so proud of her.
Another awesome video.
Fun time with you and the drone.
❤️AMER1CA❤️
Thanks!
I just love these morning views of Montana got to get up there next year👍
SUPER JOB BY ALL WE LOVE IT. AND THANK YOU
Double header trailers are a good idea as it frees up a vehicle for road transport..
Double header trailers are dangerous. They are sort of being eliminated by the custom harvesters.
Is Jesse part of the family or is she a harvest crew member? She is a great driver to be able to keep up and handle the equipment reminds me of my granddaughter in her younger years
Great video good to see y'all
Thanks!!
Another good video yal stay safe
Easy to pick out the kiwis 😅 we wear shorts all year round down here 😂😂
You must not get tooooo cold??
Good morning Highwood!
Good morning!
Sure hope Jesse is getting two/three grain cart drivers salaries because that was one hell of a days work keeping a pace with four hungry combines.
That green dumpster first thing in the mourning is going to be your new trademark ?! Lol
From 🇪🇸 ❤
I'm already starting to miss your videos knowing the harvest won't last too much longer. At least I can watch the reruns. 😊
It’s always a HUGE let down for me. Even more so because we don’t have another job to go to like we did when we were on the road.
Are you not going to be doing some fall harvest when you get back home this year?
@@dominicdahlheimer6861 we will. Jim will work for the same farmer he has. And so will I.
I'm here. Thank you.
👍🏻
Been watching that spring wht field each an every morning. From virtually grass green to almost ready. Probably will be last field to cut?😊
As Ray Stevens sang many years ago "Everything is Beautiful" 😊
I wonder Tracy if the people your combining for knew Charlie and Maryann Conn from around Fort Benton, towards Conrad?
Tracy, once harvest is over could you do a video on the X9? What is the crews perspective? It is supposed to have a more capacity than any other machine. Does it live up to the hype? Did they have to change their operation once they bought that machine, like add an extra grain cart or more trucks? Really enjoying the videos this harvest season!!
I’ll see what I can do. No, they haven’t changed anything since they purchased it.
Parade Day!!
👍 ❤
❤️🌾
I am sure you remember back when you started how big the machines were and how long it would have taken to cut the wheat where you are now. Where it might have been weeks, it is now short days, lol. They look like toys compared to those monsters.
Oh yes. And with only having one combine the past 40+ years, I know how long it would take compared to today.
If you’ve ever watched the movie Missouri Breaks, Jack Nicholson character said his family had a farm up at Big Sandy 😊. But stealing horses from the Mounties was his real occupation 😂
How close are you to the end? Since retiring I enjoy your content. I often wish I had stayed in farm work but with 3 kids it was hard. Took a job in fire, miss that now.
Ag gets planted deep in one’s soul! I understand this so much!! Close to the end. Rumor has it that if the rains stay away and nothing blows up…Saturday.
Those guys came the entire way from New Zealand to Montana just to see you guys?
Hi Tracy and Jim.
Thanks again for the amazing videos of you in Montana. I may have missed it but ane you cutting just the family farm or are you also all doing contracts too?
What sort of acres are you cutting?
All keep safe and god bless you ❤
We are no longer involved with custom harvesting. We sold our combine the spring of 2023. We’re here to strictly help this family farm with their harvest. They are so good to us!
What happened to Frank? I thought he came to the same farm.
Nice shots. All that green could be a John Deere commercial.
Thumbs up!
It IS a JD commercial! 😊
Frank will remain on this farm. He’ll be in GREAT company and treated so well. This makes my heart very happy!
So in miles (rather than drive time) was it 35-40 miles to todays field?
Was yields about the same today as earlier spring wheat?
Did the semi's haul back to the farm or to an elevator?
Supper ALWAYS sounds good after many acres‐ -right?
I thought I saw a red combine in the background early in the video. Was it on another farm? Great video and stay safe.
Great videos, here’s a quick question for the crew. How many are married with children/grandchildren or engaged? Thanks again
is the sample on the X9 better than the other combines
Do they save their own seed wheat for all these acres? Or do they get new seed each year. They must have some huge wheat drills!
I think they purchase their seed every year.
Would love to come there and help out one season 🤔wouldnt have to pay me just feed me 👌
😂 - Carol is the BEST cook!
What will be the total number of acres yall cut when you are done
I honestly don’t know how many acres they farm. A lot. I really have no reason to know this number. And if I did, out of respect for them, I wouldn’t share.
Do you all stay in Big Sandy at night or go back to home base?
Is there a reason why the combines can't tow the headers?
Actually…safer.
hello everyone
Hello!
Mike was the other guy in pic.
how come combines don't pull their own header?
I was also thinking the same 🤔
I can only guess why based on how Jim felt about doing this. When a header is behind a combine, you can’t see it. And if it flips, you’ve got a header that probably won’t do what it’s supposed to do. And they can flip fairly easy. The header trailer is built for traveling long distances at faster speeds.
Was Brett a past client of your harvest run or how did you get to know Brett and family? Thx
Nope. We had a mutual harvest friend. When we sold our combine, he contacted us about coming here and helping. And I’m sure glad he did. A win-win situation for all of us.
How long will you be in Big Sandy?
Oops, didn’t see this. Already gone.
How many acres are y’all cutting in a day?
