Must be a wonderful feeling of accomplishment to harvest a high-yielding field, but you also show the Las Vegas game of chance with Mother Nature reality that goes on behind the scenes. Too bad most folks don't appreciate the debt we owe to you folks that literally "bet the farm" to keep us fed.
Seeing that particular combine in operation was an unexpected treat for me. I was a contract designer to New Holland in 1995, for that combines redesign, but I finished the day that the first prototype rolled out of the shop. This video was the first time I saw it in action. Our mechanical design group christened it " the bumble bee" because of the stripes of the side panels.

I came across your posts a few months ago and I have been watching ever since. One of the things that comes across very strongly is your attention to detail. Your housekeeping, your record keeping and your financial calculations are meticulous. It's anything but "waffle", it's really informative. There's a great deal more to farming than just ploughing the fields and scattering the good seed on the land.

Great to see your cracking on with the combining, it is the same story down here in Cornwall Andrew, nobody was expecting any sort of yield or quality but it’s actually better than expected considering the level of disease and the terrible weather. We grew Graham and septoria was a major battle with it.
Hopefully the weather is being kind to you guys, a very stop start season so far. Looking forward to Sunday with another update on how your getting on 👍🚜

Hi Andrew, if you look carefully at point 16.10 as you pan left from the chaps refuelling a single light in the distance then a shooting star can be seen, must be a sign of good luck. Great mid week vid as usual.
In case you didnt found the problem with the AC of the CASE we had an issue with ours, everythings was working ok electrical, fluid in the compressor etc, the problem was benith the seat it has a cooler and we needed to clean that, now it works ok

don't see many combines in the Ribble valley. be good to have a go and be shown how to set one up for crops. slack strings on the baler was it the dogs and spring loosing tension on the twine.

Did you see the news last night showing the extremely high Oat yields due to the wet weather? Great video once again Andrew.
I know the farmer and cope seeds at Sleaford provided the seed. I’m not sure the wet weather could give that sort of yield, I’d think it’s a combination of things all being right.

Have you preharvest sold all your straw or are you going to store some and wait until thee price goes up (if it does).
Considering the season this year your wheat looks pretty good.
A friend of mine from Cumbria is having it all, he’s just collected the first load, I think it’ll all be gone by Christmas.

Harvest going well yellow combine is nice machine and the old MX out of the shed. Have you sorted out the Fastrac gearbox yet they do suffer from solenoid problems. Looking forward to the next update

Was just wondering on the combine on the discharge orger wether you could but a sock 0n the end so wen the corn comes out it comes straight dawn and look like there's room for the tractor to come closer to the combine and might take the tractor off driving on the straw swarfs

If in the future you have a Perspex Panel you cant see through, and a replacements are not available. give it a good clean, even sand it with some 1500 grit, and give it a coat of Clear Coat from an Aerosol. It will improve it enough till you get a replacement.

You mean us personally? We don’t have the time or labour or machinery to do it ourselves. I’m happy with a contractor baling and chasing and selling to a merchant who has done a lot of free haulage for me for Forage Aid.
I presume it saves a lot of diesel by not chopping the straw?
It will do, yes, I’ll have some figures at the end of harvest.

Because we’re not doing CTF. We keep the trailers on the trams when ever we can, just not on emptying.
