- Memories from 23 years ago come running back when I saw this car. I remember living in Oklahoma and going to the Auto Show and seeing a Saffron Pearl Volvo V70 on the show stand and thinking "this doesn't look like any Volvo I have ever seen", then getting my 50th Anniversary Road & Track magazine in the mail and reading about the C70 and thinking, "I love everything about it, except that weird speaker in the middle of the dash". Fast forward to now, and here I am, finally reviewing one for my channel and actually driving one for the first time! In Saffron Pearl! With the weird dash speaker! This car is still everything I remember and more! I love everything about this car; the color, the design, the interior, that 5-cylinder engine, the sound system, that weird speaker, the trip computer accessed by the rotary dial. Everything. And today, 23 years later, on my humble little UA-cam Channel, I have reviewed one of my childhood favorite cars...I really hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed filming it!

The fact that this may have been Val Kilmer cars is amazing. When this car debut the public and competition was in awe. This cars class is second to very few.
My grandmother had a silver one of these (albeit with the 2.0T 5 cylinder) from brand new for 10 years and only ever did 13,000 miles in it.. I still admire this car so much
Terrific car. Feels rock solid when the dash isn’t squeaking. I’m approaching 200k on the original transmission with no problems whatsoever. I did drain and fill the atf. A real cruiser. Make sure the timing components and heater core are ok and you’re good. Keep brake fluid and coolant clean as well.

These are terrific cars - I bought my black ‘98 new & still love it - maybe they will get the appreciation they deserve someday
Seeing as you've have this car for 23 years, I have a stupid question. I just bought a 2001 convertible. Whenever I turn it on the service light comes for like 2 mins and goes away. Is the "service" light for oil changes? Or is the "service" light the check engine light in these volvos?

Volvo C70 mk1 is becoming classic car in these few years. In Finland their prices already went up almost 1000€. I bought my coupe in may 2021 for 4500€ and now C70s with same kms and same condition goes for over 5000€

I have pretty much this exact 1998 C70 (in saffron pearl). Love it! But this one needs some love...give it a good clean and fix the broken parts.
It does indeed need some love. It’s in pretty rough shape. I considered buying it, but the fix list was growing and growing.

And so much more... Feels so much better in every possible way when you drive this and even tho this is 4 seater, in coupe you can fit 2 180cm tlal adults in the backseat pretty easily
