I would be a little nervous mentioning all that stuff on Letterman, but then again, its all hypothetical right? lol...... I love all the time, skill, and effort put forth to do these runs in such a professional way, awesome awesome stuff.
That was awsome! When did that air? I can't wait to get that book (I feel bad for waiting this long to get it). Congrates on the book release! I can't wait to see the video footage from the trip!!! ^_^
alex roy is awesome. but how long did it take you to get from ohios border to columbus? ima try to get from columbus to marietta in 45 mins. then 30. ima need a fast car.
The black patches on the side shoulders of his jacket are Russian Army patches designating the troops wearing them a beings based in the Caucasses ie. Chechnya. Or that's what I was told when I swapped my patches with a russian soldier (sorry for any spelling mistakes.)
So I was working for FarnbacherLoles at the Rolex 24 and one of the guys that was with Alex Roy walked into the pits. I recognized his G 144 jacket, as any fan would anywhere. HE neglected to tell me that Alex was with him! So I was pitting cars 84 and 85 and missed out on my chance to meet him =/
I would just like to say that I have met Alex Roy and he is rather the opposite. If you have read his book or talked to him for five minutes you would realize that he is one of the safest drivers on the road. He plans for hundreds of hours to make sure that accidents do not happen and the fatality in Gumball 2007 wasn't actually Nick Morley (the gumballer's) fault. If you had done any research at all you would be quick to withdraw your statement.
He should have gone on Leno, Letterman can't tell the difference between an m5 and a Bentley Continental GT but Leno would know the cars down to the bore and stroke of each engine lol
A valid point Magoo, but I had the opportunity to meet and share with Alex my theory: There are 2 kinds of drivers; Idiots and Idiots who know what they're doing. The former is one who just jumps in and goes flat out and weaves through traffic causing crashes. The latter (Alex I say this with the utmost respect and humility) is the idiot who plans 8-9 steps ahead and meticulously plans any and all factors surrounding each and every decision. The 07 fatality was not Roy's doing, look it up.
I agree with both of you JGMagoo and roadwarrior 144, however road warrior you must agree that you can't drive a lot safer by planning things in front of every thing, you don't know wheter the other driver will go left or right, you don't know if there is an oil stain on the road or not, you don't know if someone will jump out of the line and hit you. So there is no possible way to determine and plan every single factor in the equasion. So evethough I'm a car lover I'm very much against gumbal.
that would be the wrong thing to do. a VERY famous race team like that going out and doing illegal stuff like this would give them a bad image. plus, in ALMS and IndyCar, i believe they suspend the team or driver when either has a driving violation. i know NASCAR does, Kurt Busch was fined 25 grand for getting a speeding ticket.
Read his book cover to cover. Awesome. The best parts were his final moments with his dad, very raw and emotional. …but for goodness' sake…. what's with the fucking giggling?!?!?!?!?
Alex is awesome, got to hang out with him for quite a while at Laguna Seca during MotoGP. Really laid back, chill guy.
you guys talk about his giggling or weird laughs must have never have tried to talk while nervous
I read his book about doing the cannonball run and honestly it was the most interesting book I had ever read so fascinating definitely a must read

congrats mr roy on the great interview!

why this video looks like it was made in the late 90s
Thumbs up if you first heard about Alex from FastLane Daily.
