I wonder what are the norms / what’s allowed when renting in Japan, because I think the toilet paper storage criteria seem really easy to overcome in most apartments we’ve seen so far. Shelves or racks are easy to buy, is it not allowed to drill 2 small holes in the apartment? At the end of the lease there’s still the option of filling the holes with sealant. Besides, holders or hanging bags are fairly common and practical. You can even find wall mounted drill free roll holders, as it’s not a very heavy object. I don’t get why it’s a dealbreaker?
Hmmm, yeah, this apartment didn't quite meet expectations 🤔but the way how creative you are with Spiderman and the rest of his friends is always impressive! 😄
@@clotairedest-fulgence2135 not a dealbreaker, just an insider joke. Usui has installed a spanner shelf in his 7.5 sq.m apt. It crushes from time to time spilling all the rolls to the floor. Lucky there is no toilet paper storage above the toilet (where it usually is) as it would be directly under the electric heater! Then you'd need to unpack the escape ladder and hop up the window to the balcony to get down safely. No thank you!
Moraria tranquilo e pediria um desconto no aluguel 😁 🔍🔍🔍 In the series "Friends" the apartment has an identical "balcony" exit😊. Usui-san, I have watched ALL of your videos, and so now consider myself an expert in micro apartments 😀. Please don't take this one, or your many fans will feel the need to come rescue you. No laundry, no kitchen storage, glass bathroom windows, and, worst of all, no toilet paper storage? Just no. You are persistent and will find the right place soon!

Come to Munich Germany, same price without balkony. Ok, I think nobody would put electric heater in Bathroom. Also Glaswalls for Bathroom? Ok one could put something to prevent. One could put a higher bed. But Balkony is precious.😊
So many negatives, especially the bathroom heater with the weird fabric that someone stuffed in there, just waiting to burn your apartment down. But the biggest negative that I see is the door to the bathroom is basically in the genkan, which has no storage. Something about coming out of the bathroom clean and having to step around dirty shoes and outside clothes and bags does not feel right to me. I can see why you didn't waste any time arranging the furniture or showing us the amenities around the area. The best part of the apartment is that you got to eat Spanish food afterwards.
An apartment with all the inconveniences)) High floor, additional stairs are needed to access the balcony, blinds in the bathroom will not hurt. And the rent is not that suitable, even if the location is provided. Although the room is sunny, there are tiles at the entrance, in the bathroom there is an opportunity not only to ventilate the room, but also to warm it. Hmm😊
Well, it is small...but the balcony is a big plus. I could live with the bathroom. A film can be put up on the windows to block the view into the bath. The kitchen needs a small fridge and a small microwave. The entryway needs a closet/cabinet for storage. The apartment itself needs a murphy bed in a wall cabinet to really make it workable, but as it is in Japan, I understand the size. I remember being young and "making it work". With the right setup, for one person, I think it would be fine. And considering that the rent is less than $600 US, I think its good. Like I said, the balcony is a big plus.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the Japanese focus on minimalism, quality, cleanliness. The concrete walls, clean lines, simplicity, it's just so comforting. I envy the choice of these types of quality places you have! Is the wall in the bathroom also concerete but painted?
See 2:18: there is an undercounter tap and a floor drainage outlet for a small, undercounter washing machine. A small capacity one, to be carried on foot to the fourth floor. A no go.

I think the heater in the bathroom serves 2 purposes. One to keep you warm during winter, Two you can hang your washed clothes up on the rod to dry since dryers are not common in Japan. This one looks pretty good compared to some other videos I’ve seen. It’s a pretty nice bathroom; but some opaque screens or maybe just window coverings are in order. The “balcony” is a fire escape: that’s where you would use the ladder. But it’s a decent size and can maybe double as a little balcony.
You know, I kinda like it! It's a bit cramped, yeah. But a heater in the bathroom is sweet. Lol, I simply set some extra paper rolls on the floor next to the toilet for easy reach, sometimes in small bathrooms, I slid rolls onto the pluger handle, lol. You can always line the bath windows with cling sheets designed to create privacy (or, as my sister and her first husband once did on their bathroom door in a flat in San Francisco, line it with losing racetrack and lottery tickets! Sadly, they had more than enough and it did make for an interesting door.) Yeah, I'm not sure it's a proper balcony if you have to climb through the window, But hey, I used to climb out my bedroom window in a condo I once shared and lay out on the roof of the floor beneath (the den was under my bedroom) and listen to music and stargaze. It was awesome! You can always set out some plants too. I'd probably do a loft bed with office beneath since it's tight fit. At least the escape ladder isn't in the way. But where to put the washer/dryer? Do they have a local nice laundromat??
Water proof curtains on adjustable rods inside bathroom covering glass walls, add a metal shelf that the legs are high go all the way up over the height of sink on back of toilet but put against wall between glass wall looking out into kitchen and window that opens over toilet- has three four shelves goes to ceiling put toilet paper here and extra toiletries, get a corner shower shelves from back left corner to ceiling to hold toiletries you are using now, get a portable wash machine that can be hooked up and emptied into tub, add another adjustable rod that goes above bathroom door opening on the inside of bathroom to above window-clothes drying rod by using electric heater, entrance left hand side add narrow width but floor to ceiling shoe rack and shelves for extra storage, under kitchen sink add refrigerator and then another next to it on the side of second fridge add step stool that is collapsible and utilizes top of fridge as a step to go out on balcony, balcony add plant boxes to grow plants bamboo bonsai a tiny table and chairs(s) to enjoy in good weather and collapsible table umbrella or awning, over induction plate add metal shelves for plates glasses food storage, on side of sink against glass wall shelving for condiments and extra storage, add another shelving unit that has doors or curtains that is floor to ceiling right before you step up or after that for towels-sheets-blankets, put portable wash machine in corner of window that barely opens and balcony window or if no second fridge put next to fridge under sink or put under sink, bed along wall and window that barely opens wall or loft it not so high so you can put desk and chair under it and railing so you don't fall out at night again collapsible step ladder to get into bed, put some art work or easy take care of plants hanging from ceiling, and maybe curtain to block view from entrance as you step up onto wood floor on and adjustable rod so you have privacy when you answer door, small microwave on top of fridge if you don't use as step out onto balcony and smaller collapsible step ladder instead...then use balcony as outdoor office when weather good.😊
I like how deep the kitchen sink is and that light placement, and I agree about the small fridge under the counter. The shower curtain rod is in the perfect place for hanging clothes to dry instead of in the main room, and shame there isn't a place for a washer/dryer, unless there is a small enough one that might fit under the sink too. I'd probably face the foot of the bed towards the kitchenette. I'd put plants on the balcony, with that height, but keep a folding step stool for emergencies with the ladder for getting out. This could definitely work, if it had an elevator. Thanks for another great video!
I’d use the balcony for plants since it’s difficult to actually go out on it. The glass bathroom walls are kind of odd. I might like it when I’m in the bathroom to not feel cramped in the small space. But I don’t like being able to see into the bathroom all the time.

Electrical heater in the bathroom is good, it help remove moist that can build up to mold, it can also be used to dry wet clothes when it rain or your shower-robe, but it look like it need a bit of restoration that should not be to hard to do. And thank you for sharing, it was interesting to see.
Definite possibilities! Basic rectangle. Need to do something with the see-thru glass to the combined bath. Need some type of storage. I don't know measurements, but would a bed fit on the end? I think 8 out of 10.
Merhaba Usui, beton duvar, mutfağın banyoyu görmesi, saklama alanlarının olmaması dışında güzel, balkonun olması çok güzel, daha önceki dairelerden birkaçı daha güzeldi, tabiki karar senin, afiyet olsun bu arada hep mutlu ol🙂💮💖
The preview looked promising. However it’s too expensive considering the bathroom has no exhaust fan and there’s no range hood at kitchen. The balcony is actually OK and feels fun to climb. 😂 And there’s no laundry. It’d be a no.
Whoa ho! That’s super cool. Small ladder access to roof from there access to other roofs, or just stars at night. You did really good getting out on the balcony just don’t look down never look down if your foot fits on it you’re good to go. I love the see-through bathrooms. I love the spa tile walls with the ambience carried through in the form of the bathroom heater.😅 windows are nice. I’ll be figuring out how to open them like the tiny one in the bathroom. That wire outside the window looks a lot like electrical. I’d be testing it before I touched it.⚡️ Replace the cooktop with a gas one. Did I see a washer/dryer? That makes the rent OK would be better if there was a refrigerator. ✅ ladder it’s got everything you need, and you’re on top in case of collapse and high and dry. The potato salad looks a bit like the bear.
It's not the best... But it's really not bad! I am a glass half full kinda girl.... This reminds me of me 1st apartment as a student... The bathroom is good... It's got a tub... And the washing basin combo toilet.... The glass walls are a bit.... You know😅... But it let's in a lot of light and it's only for 1 person anyway. The fact that there is a little outside area is awesome! Perfect for someone working many hours and just need a little place to call home!
The thing is... For someone who lives in a moderate climate, it would be possible because you can go outside a lot and enjoy hanging out at a park etc. In Canada, where its minus temperatures 5-6 months of the year, it would be unthinkable. We need bigger dwellings here because we are forced to stay inside for around half of the year.
You can build a shelf cover for a washing machine which also acts as a step up to the balcony. No amount of money can buy a decent view to enjoy with good access to fresh air right from your room, I'd think about a bed across the end window but have a shelf bed built in.... there are also coffee tables which when you lift the top, reveals a hidden drawer and the top lifts higher so you can use it like a desk from the bed.... no need for a desk and chair then... brilliant micro apartment.
I am Spanish and here this not comun, but you pain a bit less bit a room in a house, sharing the bathroom, so I would prefer that apartment. Thanks for showing 😊
I think it's a Futon Balcony only lol Just for drying clothes and airing out futons. It seems so strange! Oh, but could be very nice for plants maybe? The wood floors were very pretty and made the space feel welcoming!
The balcony helps to air the laundry. The living room is quite small though. Maybe I would place a low bed along the unpainted wall, and a desk and chair on the opposite wall. A taller fridge with freezer just besides the kitchenette. From the balcony, it seems to be quite easy to push yourself up onto the roof of the building. 😅
If you put your bed on the balcony wall, you can use it as a step! This one is tiny. Would go with a futton, so there could desk and some cloths/food storage. No elevator and no onsite laundry is bad. The glass walls on the bath do not bother me- it brings in much-needed light. Buy a roll of frosted window cling fixes the privacy issue. In rooms this small, I would not have a guest, so privacy is not a dealbreaker.
So many of these are like one small bedroom with a. Tiny kitchenette and bathroom- mostly what you used as a teen at home so they are fabulous, but four floors is fine for anyone that goes out daily and is fit it’s like 32 stairs, even with groceries. It would limit you to an expensive but small wardrobe (5-7). Seems a very good lifestyle for a young single person. Slightly tight for two that work away all day but manageable
I loved the concrete, the tiled walls and the wooden floor. This balcony is just decorative, some plants would look great there. I don't understand how the heater works with so much steam from the shower... dangerous!
The food seems awesome❤❤❤ but the apartment not so much. No storage, no privacy in bathroom and a window that doesn't open 🤔 But the makeshift terrace is interesting 😀thank you Usui-san for a great vdo❤❤❤
I like the bathroom. Its quite nice, with the window and the glass fronts (but you can never have guests there or need to use curtains). Heater do you have in some (older) german apartments too. But could PLEASE someone remove the stickers there, unless they catch fire? I dont like the tiles left of the entrance. Of course, its the same tiles as in the bathroom on the right, but.... I think if you want to enlarge your bathroom feeling: why is the cuircuit breaker in the middle of that? I do not like the ceiling, too. This wall stuff is spoiling the whole first glance for me. For the living room... I like the big windows very much, but I do not like the wall and ceiling style, and also I do not like the kitchen style. The plain metal reminds me of hospitals and so on. The balcony seems a good place for flowers 🙂 The room itself is small as always, but seems to have enough space for everything you need. Except... where to place the washing machine? Overall... its not my favorite apartment ^^'
I absolutely love watching your videos keep them coming . Its a shame that we cannot live like that in the uk as we are restricted by regulations to have a minimum space but the japanese have got it down to an absolute fine art and so beautifully done ✔ ❤
me too, bed with storage underneath. And maybe mini foldable washing machine so you can wash and dry on balcony. Just using some ladder/cupboard/foldable chair to get to balcony and nice place for plants and foldable beach chair. Dunno the price in the area tho, cause it's to pricey for such a small room
This is a nice little place, because you didn’t try to fit the model of your bed into the layout, I don’t know how big the “living room is” but I think the rent is out of your price bracket. Seems like a halfway decent place, but no toilet paper storage! What’s the matter with these people? :-) lol.
Per essere piccolo è carino ❤basta apportare modifiche 😅sul balcone stendino per i panni con copertura di telo quando piove, una piccola lavatrice e poi fai tu👍
For the rental price, proximity to Shinjuku station, if the area is safe with good neighbors around I would be happy to live in this micro apartment…i love the design of the bathroom for a small space, there’s a window, a bathtub, the glass enclosure gives a sense of a mini spa bathroom. I will get a luxury futon bed with a wood platform or on top of nice tatami so the futon can be rolled during the day transforming it to a living room sofa…add a nice Yamaha acoustic guitar on the corner to make it look like an artist studio…I will either find a work desk with drawers on rolling casters which can be transformed to a dining table, the laptop can go inside the drawer when it’s time to eat. Easy to roll when you feel like going to the balcony, the step stool goes underneath the work desk or find a nicely designed folding step stool. Put some Lovely hanging plants or geraniums over the balcony railings, buy easy to mount wood decking & folding patio/balcony chairs. Not having an elevator is a definite challenge however if the stairs are done well (not steep) then walking up & down the stairs would be the main workout each day, keeps you healthy and avoid accumulating things you don’t need. 😍
In Italy the minimum size of an apartment for a single person is 28m2, 38 for a couple but they are often a bit rustic. I find micro apartments fascinating but you have to be very minimalist and it can be difficult for a woman 😅. The ones you show us are beautiful, modern, technological! I love small bathtubs. In these mini apartments there is no washing machine but the small balcony is an open space for some plants but...fourth floor without a lift???!!!😰😰😰
I would need at least one hook in the bathroom for my towel. And of course you'd need a refrigerator, if only to keep the leftovers from your scrumptious restaurant meals!
A loft bed - but how to assemble it in such a small space? The natural light, and the balcony are big plusses. Seems pricey though with few appliances.
Paella? In Valencia, we call that dish "Arroz con cosas" (Rice with something). If you come to Valencia sometime, I will take you to an authentic paella restaurant. I am not from Valencia, but my wife was born there.

Water proof curtains on adjustable rods inside bathroom covering glass walls, add a metal shelf that the legs are high go all the way up over the height of sink on back of toilet but put against wall between glass wall looking out into kitchen and window that opens over toilet- has three four shelves goes to ceiling put toilet paper here and extra toiletries, get a corner shower shelves from back left corner to ceiling to hold toiletries you are using now, get a portable wash machine that can be hooked up and emptied into tub, add another adjustable rod that goes above bathroom door opening on the inside of bathroom to above window-clothes drying rod by using electric heater, entrance left hand side add narrow width but floor to ceiling shoe rack and shelves for extra storage, under kitchen sink add refrigerator and then another next to it on the side of second fridge add step stool that is collapsible and utilizes top of fridge as a step to go out on balcony, balcony add plant boxes to grow plants bamboo bonsai a tiny table and chairs(s) to enjoy in good weather and collapsible table umbrella or awning, over induction plate add metal shelves for plates glasses food storage, on side of sink against glass wall shelving for condiments and extra storage, add another shelving unit that has doors or curtains that is floor to ceiling right before you step up or after that for towels-sheets-blankets, put portable wash machine in corner of window that barely opens and balcony window or if no second fridge put next to fridge under sink or put under sink, bed along wall and window that barely opens wall or loft it not so high so you can put desk and chair under it and railing so you don't fall out at night again collapsible step ladder to get into bed, put some art work or easy take care of plants hanging from ceiling, and maybe curtain to block view from entrance as you step up onto wood floor on and adjustable rod so you have privacy when you answer door, small microwave on top of fridge if you don't use as step out onto balcony and smaller collapsible step ladder instead...then use balcony as outdoor office when weather good.😊
First I was irritated by the size and some aspects but as longer I watched the video the more I felt in love with it.
Fell in love*
Felt is the past of "feel". "Fell" is the past of "fall".
I really like the architecture of this apartment, although I would prefer a mini apartment instead of a micro one. I love the concrete walls ♡
very small but good balcony for my plants. glass wall toilet always looks crazy 🤣 and we need toilet paper storage instead of heater !!!!!
Thanks for your comment!
We need toilet paper storage.😎🧻
Oh, this looks great! And it even has a private balcony! Okay, I am going to watch this. ❤
I want this appartement 🥰
🍂🍁🧡
I think it's cool. For one person it's excellent!😊
I've never seen a balcony like that before. 😂
Sempre há uma primeira vez 😂
The preview looked promising. However it’s too expensive considering the bathroom has no exhaust fan and there’s no range hood at kitchen. The balcony is actually OK and feels fun to climb. 😂 And there’s no laundry. It’d be a no.
Well I like it. People in Hong Kong would love to live there.
I’d be testing it before I touched it.⚡️
Replace the cooktop with a gas one.
The no washing machine kills it for me and it doesn't look like it can fit a bed AND a desk. I do like the floors though, the brown was so rich.
I like it better than where you live now. I think the light and atmosphere are better.
I like plants… the balcony would be very nice!
Boa tarde.
Esse apartamento é estranho😂
Hmmmmm, loft bed, cushy recliner under with a side table, lamp, nice soft rug, wall mounted tv and fridge. Beautiful
Tirando os vidros transparentes no banheiro, o resto é bem interessante e os acabamentos e equipamentos parecem muito bons.
I am Spanish and here this not comun, but you pain a bit less bit a room in a house, sharing the bathroom, so I would prefer that apartment. Thanks for showing 😊
Get some rest and keep on looking for the next one! ❤
🤣I agree
The balcony would be great for veggie plants. 😊 Was the bottom of the bathroom heater Melting?? 😮 No washing machine hook-up?
جميل بترجمة العربيّة 🎉 تحيا 🇩🇿
How cute!
I think it's a Futon Balcony only lol Just for drying clothes and airing out futons. It seems so strange! Oh, but could be very nice for plants maybe?
The wood floors were very pretty and made the space feel welcoming!
the layout is okay.. although need climb to balcony.. it is okay,, the balcony is good to mornig exercise... but rent price is higher....
Don Quijote y Sancho, un bonito detalle;
El microapartamento...los has visto mejores!
I would love to move in to this micro-apartment.
It’s small but very clean and looks to be in a nice location for moving around the city.
Gefällt mir❤
I actually like the balcony, put plants out there
Yes, I would love to have that balcony.
I actually like this space. The balcony was a pleasant surprise.
Amei!
Só precisa calcular bem o tamanho do escritório e da cama 😂
So many of these are like one small bedroom with a. Tiny kitchenette and bathroom- mostly what you used as a teen at home so they are fabulous, but four floors is fine for anyone that goes out daily and is fit it’s like 32 stairs, even with groceries. It would limit you to an expensive but small wardrobe (5-7). Seems a very good lifestyle for a young single person. Slightly tight for two that work away all day but manageable
I loved the concrete, the tiled walls and the wooden floor. This balcony is just decorative, some plants would look great there. I don't understand how the heater works with so much steam from the shower... dangerous!
Fajne mieszkanko, balkon daje spory plus. Tylko brak miejsca na pralkę.
The bathroom is designed in a way that if you take a shower, you can yell, 'Oh world, see me bathing in a tub for a free show!' hehehehe
😅
Всегда до блеска все чисто❤
Micro Apartment Micro Paella
The food seems awesome❤❤❤ but the apartment not so much. No storage, no privacy in bathroom and a window that doesn't open 🤔 But the makeshift terrace is interesting 😀thank you Usui-san for a great vdo❤❤❤
Hola Usui!! Que bien otro video nuevo! No no no este apartamento no!!! 😮
Well I guess it's good that its got a "balcony "--you can use it whenever you want to change your mind😂😂
The balcony seems a good place for flowers 🙂
The room itself is small as always, but seems to have enough space for everything you need. Except... where to place the washing machine?
Overall... its not my favorite apartment ^^'
I absolutely love watching your videos keep them coming . Its a shame that we cannot live like that in the uk as we are restricted by regulations to have a minimum space but the japanese have got it down to an absolute fine art and so beautifully done ✔ ❤
I was atationed in Yokosuka for 3 years. Compared to the living space you get on the Navy ship, I would have been happy with this.
I hope you and your friends enjoyed your spanish meal!!
私わ スペインじん です!!☺
Thanks for your comment!🥰🇪🇸🥘🍴
I definitely could make this a home. The glass walls I have several ideas for. This for me is 7 out of 10
I think this is my favourite ! Top floor . Lots of windows including in the bathroom. A small tub. A balcony to have some plants , Take it !
me too, bed with storage underneath. And maybe mini foldable washing machine so you can wash and dry on balcony. Just using some ladder/cupboard/foldable chair to get to balcony and nice place for plants and foldable beach chair. Dunno the price in the area tho, cause it's to pricey for such a small room
Me hizo gracia que para salir al balcon hay que hacerlo por la ventana, es pequeño pero completo para una persona me gusto.
The balcony honestly scared me 😂
balcony !🎉❤
but it lacks wall storage above the kitchenette
This is a nice little place, because you didn’t try to fit the model of your bed into the layout, I don’t know how big the “living room is” but I think the rent is out of your price bracket. Seems like a halfway decent place, but no toilet paper storage! What’s the matter with these people? :-) lol.
Per essere piccolo è carino ❤basta apportare modifiche 😅sul balcone stendino per i panni con copertura di telo quando piove, una piccola lavatrice e poi fai tu👍
I like it, balcony is nice...
I like your current apartment more, well organized.
Small but nice , and I like the bright room !
Muito pequeno e muito caro.😱.
Fique onde mora agora, acho melhor 👍.
Muitas felicidades para você🌟😍
I like when other tenants let you look into their apartments for ideas and how they set it up. Thanks for the video.
I love that “balcony” & bathroom. 7/10. 🛁
I would need at least one hook in the bathroom for my towel. And of course you'd need a refrigerator, if only to keep the leftovers from your scrumptious restaurant meals!
I love it! some ikea furniture..could be cute
