Water is life! All the food preps in the world won't do you any good unless you have water, too. When we had our wells drilled, we put hand pumps on the well heads. Even though we're completely off-grid, the solar power can fail, EMP or solar flares could take it out, the pump itself can fail. I have never had to use the hand pumps, but I am very glad I spent the $800 on this insurance
You can wash your pots and pans with just vinegar. No water needed. That way you dont need all that plastic. And instead of desinfectant gel you can use pure White vinegar too. For the toilet you put a garbage bag over yoir toilet, make sure you put a rag in the toilet hole, and everytime you poop you make sure you have wooden pallets to put over your poop. Urine you catch with a bottle. And you can pour this in your garden when it is full. Good for your soil. Love your channel.
I have never heard of the towel water collection idea before. What a great idea. This would be a last ditch effort for me, but it is always nice to have an abundance of ideas.
This guy is great! I love the video and the content. Well informed and generous presentation with demonstration of specific products. You're on my list of favorites and I am very picky.
Thank you J.R. for the water purification information. Good solid information one of the most important of the four survival elements needed to survive. I believe its only a matter of time. Much needed information.
Just got a 5-gallon distillation setup. Stainless steel, can be heated over a stove or open flame. $70 on Ebay. Trace mineral drops too, along with pink Himalayan salt will make any questionable water source drinkable for extended periods. At the least you can mix in bottled water 1:1 with distilled to extend (about double) length of bottled supply. Edit: and it can distill alcohol/moonshine/etc for barter if you plan ahead with proper supplies for alcohol fermentation (grains/yeast etc)
Thanks to you I picked up some food grade buckets and lids, a valve that I installed in a hole in the bucket and some sawyer tap filters to use with it. Also got some disinfecting bleach to use. I have several other buckets with screens fitted to the open top so I can use them to collect rain water from the downspouts on my house if need be. Thanks so much for the great life saving tips. I hope I never need them, but thanks to you I have them if they are needed.
My personal favorite is the half size Scepter 10 liter container in black color. Just as tough as the five gallon, (20 liter), you showed here, but easier for my wife to move, or somebody if injured. The black color lets you use it to thermally heat water in the sunshine to save energy to heat the water up at least partially. They are not cheap, but they are worth it!
good video. I have several 7 gallon containers. I have a distiller, and a 55 gallon water drum !! and 2 30 gallon drums. I have a base camp on demand hot water system too. Shelter, Water, and Food !! and home defense system !! good to have dogs too. I even prepped with them in mind !! I have a generator, with lots of gas, however I might get a solar generator too. Get ready Patriots, help one another !! be polite, and helpful !! Good luck !! and stay alive !!
Great video once again, JR. Keep up the good work. Maybe do an actual blackout scenario? Show why its important to know where your gear is vs it being scattered around the house.
I can’t remember if I said it in the video, but I had no idea it had happened. It had already completely drained and dried up before I found it. They are horrible.
Great video JR! I have a tin roof and when it rains gallons pour off in the corners. Someone said to me that tin wasn't safe to collect rain water from (to drink) I can't imagine why not but I do hope to get tarps ready to put over the tin and catch it that way. It will go through purification system of course. I just need barrels.
Thanks for watching Sherry! I don’t know much about potential problems with tin, but I would imagine that a purifier that could remove chemicals and heavy metals should take care of any contaminants.
Picked up two barrels from Craigslist. Food grade. 110 gallons every time it rains. That's great for small veggie gatden but not enough for mid or long term. Ised Google maps to locate nearby ponds & pools.
Metal roofs are far safer than shingled roofs. There are fewer chemicals, and being smooth means that fewer contaminates can settle in them. In lots of places, you "can't" legally use any roof run off for anything other than gardening. Runoff from the roof of my shingled house is not something I'd use for consumption. Runoff from the metal shed, and corrugated roof of the rabbit shed are what I'd readily drink. A home made filter will be plenty adequate for metal roof runoff. Use your judgement, and act according to what you think is best.
Any extra 27 Gallon Black Totes w/Yellow Lids??? - That's 27 gallons of inconspicuous collection with a tight lid. 54 gallons w/2 and easier than a 55gal drum if you are unable to store one.
I built a pump system that runs from my pool under the house and into my kitchen where all I need to do is plug it into my rodi 6 stage filtration then before the water exits to the drinking barrel the water runs over a uv light killing the bacteria that may have made it through the rodi system
Thanks Jennifer! We got the Berkey online (there is a link in the description) and my wife got the cookie jar as a gift. I think it came from Cracker Barrel originally, so you may need to check eBay since that was a few years ago.
Cyber attacks are increasing in frequency, and water purification stations are not immune from them. Even where I am, where water is the #1 concern, plant hacking is not my chief concern, but it is always possible
Thanks JR. You remain one of my favorites….. only have 4 favorites!
Thank you!

When we buy those 40 packs of bottles, we write that day’s date on it with a sharpie and rotate them out accordingly.
That’s a great idea Ken!
The bottle water you buy could be at least two years old already
@@rockymiles7161 true. However, one would taste the difference in really old and new water. I know that I can taste it.

Thanks MI Prepper! I’ll need to check out the black water containers.
By the end of next week, you’ll be at 25,000 subs! Way to go man!
Thanks z man! I sure hope so!
Another very thorough video. Using towels to gather water is a a new idea for me. I’m adding it to my arsenal, thanks.
Thanks WhatNext?!
I always enjoy the content that you put out. I'm so thankful that I found you!
Thank you!
Your knocking them out of the park !!! Me I'll tell everyone that I knew you when you 1st got started !!! Thanks Brother !
Thanks Mark! I appreciate your support!
awesome information, thanks for all you do for us.
This was great info!🙋🏻
Thank you Judi!
Very informative video. I've been thinking about that hand pump for the well.

My supplies are scattered and I'm aware of needing a day to consolidate but at least know where the flashlights are staged.
Lived through this Feb 2021 here in Texas. Didn't have water for a week. Definitely an eye opener!
It definitely was. It made me change a lot about how I prep.
Hey JR! We often lose drinkable water during a hurricane. We’ve always stocked up during that time. This year, we bit the bullet and bought a Berkey.
I always feel a little better knowing that we have our Berkey. Thanks for watching and commenting Lylibu!
Thanks, Jr! Love your videos! Informative, upbeat, and honest! Great job!
Thank you RM! I appreciate your support and kind words!
I learned the same thing about the milk jug type water jugs. They leaked in two closets. Lesson learned.

@@diypreppertv How much bleach to a gallon of water should we put in ?
8 drops of 6% bleach, or 6 drops of 8.25% bleach
Great info. Thanks for the video and clear information on how to be prepared in all situations. 👍
Thank you!
Thanks for the great info.
Glad I got 55 gal. barrel last year
Get a Sawyer Mini!! Lol I see you have one!! They are pretty nice. I have the mini and the gravity filter with the gallon bag as well.
They are great filters for their size and cost!

Iowa won't let us have a Berkey, Sales prohibited it says.
So who knows another good water purification system?
Aquapur is a good one. See Deep South Homestead on UA-cam for info. Wonder why Berkey isn't allowed?
Home depot , blue or black 55 gal. plastic drums = $109. Dec. 31, 2021
Wow I want that owl cookie jar almost as much as I want a berkey!! Where did you get both? Thank you for your videos!!

Don't even need to wait for SHTF or WRL. Just have aging infrastructure like in Flint, Michigan.
I'm watching your videos over today its against the law to collect rain water where I'm at ain't that something. Lol.
My husband abandoned me for another woman . im pretty much surviving on my own :(
I’m sorry to hear that Debbie.
I’m in Oregon and need a girlfriend to hold up with😉
Damn that's messed up
