Re: the distilled water in those mentioned better containers...YASSSSSSS that's what I do at my place, its an apartment, so I don't have room for 55 gal drums, etc. These can be stored in many nooks and crannies, etc and saves having to buy storing hardware(drums, shelving, etc). Distilled water has no residual organic matter to go off when stored, useful for batteries, humidifiers as mentioned, C-PAPS, etc. You can always add things like Redmond real salt etc to it if you want the extra minerals when drinking, but also remember in SHTF you will probably be eating more salt in MRE's/Freeze dried meals/bullion saved for rice/beans preps, etc. so the distilled water will help with that salt load on your kidneys. TBH the whole you get your minerals with your water is overhyped, you absorb much more minerals from your food & is more bio-available than your water sources, but you also can store a bottle of spirulina tablets as well, and is a good idea anyway in case you have garden failure issues.
@@arneedlund8512 Yeah a distiller is the best if you have one for water, but things like a mini sawyer are great and do a lot of water @100K gallons for @ 30$) and the Alexapure/Berky are good for larger amounts at one time for when youre using it at the home. I purchased used 30 gal food grade barrels for $15 each .. They are food grade and had salt packed anchovies in them . Smelly but after alot of cleaning and bleaching they are clean and safe . I filled them with local tap water and added the specified amount of clorox for longterm storage . This water will go through a ceramic carbon filter if needed for drinking water . Quick comment: I can and dehydrate a LOT during the summer and then eat off the bounty in the winter. I’ve found that I’ll have a lot of empty glass jars by springtime just sitting on the shelf, waiting to be filled up again. Instead of storing them empty on the pantry shelf, I fill them with water, put the lid back on, and then put it on the shelf. It will take up just as much room either way. 🤷🏻♀️ This way, if something happens, I either have a lot of dried and canned food, OR a lot of jars of water (or a mix of both, just depending on the team of year that the disaster happens). If I don’t need the water but do need the jar back, I water the plants with the water; water my chickens; fill up my water bottle; dump it on the lawn…it can always be used. I don’t do anything to specially treat the water since I don’t expect it to stay in the jars for all that long (10 months at the most). I wouldn’t want to live off JUST this water, but in the case of an emergency, it’s a good way to supplement my water supply. (We live on a farm and have a well, so as soon as the power goes out, I lose all water. So storing as much water as possible is very important to me!) Anyway, I haven’t seen this talked about a lot on prepper channels, so I thought I’d share. Keep up the good work!
@Graysson Carl - I could, but in my case, all I’m wanting to do is to use the space in the jars in a useful way while storing them, waiting for them to be filled up again with produce the next summer. They’re going to take up exactly the same amount of room whether they have water in them or not, so might as well have water in them. 🤷🏻♀️ Considering these are quart jars (1/4 of a gallon of water) it would be very impractical to use them to store a lot of water. I would never want this to be the backbone of my entire water storage plan. But as a supplement? If the alternative is to store air? 🤷🏻♀️ Why not.
When I had my farm and a well, we lost power all the time for 10-14 days at a time. I ended up putting a hand pump into my well. Best thing I ever did. My animals never went thirsty
The 2-liter soda bottles work for storing rice or water. They have screw on caps, are thick walled and sturdy. They are also portable and in stores, you might be able to get the plastic box that the bottles sit in for stacking.
We like to reuse the juice bottles (plastic and cleaned out and dried) to refill them with our Berkey filtered water and then date the cap and sides with a sharpie. Our next door neighbor has a swimming pool as well and he spends most of his time in NY. In an shtf situation only, and we ran out of secondary sources, we’d hit that pool. It helps to have extra Berkey filters as well as cleaning the ones you currently would use.
I picked up a pressure cooker and converted it to make distilled water! To be able to drink it everyday is to add potassium and magnesium to the distilled water!
I have a well and bought an Earth Straw (I think they call it something else now), that is stored in the well housing and turns it into a hand pump, when there is no power. I also have a Berkey and a large river nearby, but I also store extra water in 2-liter pop bottles (not for drinking). Since I'm in my 70's and on my hill, in a rural area, on acreage, I will not be bugging out.
I reuse bleach and vinegar jugs to store water in. I also dug a 6 ft deep pond in the back yard to have water for backup. And using free used 55 gallon molasses barrels for rain water from the roof to irrigate gardens.
Another option for long term storage of water is the Coffee-Mate bottles which come in 32ounce and 64ounce. These bottles are of course food grade and are pretty tough. Another idea is to use gallon size Tea bottles, brands like Arizona, Tradewinds whose bottles are not shaped like milk bottles. These bottles are tough. I've been using 3 of them for years to mix up my favorite blend of tea. Apparently Nestle sold the Tradewinds brand a few years ago, but AriZona Tea is still big and their bottles are just like the Tradewinds bottles.
I have been filling any and all things for a long with water. I'm running out of room, in a spare room that's 20 x 20. Have well water, and bought Clorox to put in them, if they sit to long. And bought lots of drinking water, and cooking water.
When I was starting out I used to fill 2 liter bottles with water and freeze them as both extra ice and water storage. These days I use a combo of Jerry cans, 55 gallon barrels, and ibc totes. I have plenty of space for a bulk tank but the cost versus the cost of a used food grade ibc tote and portability and stackablity of the totes I find them as my go to water storage solution. 10 of them are around the same price as a 3000 gallon tank and 2750 gallons in 275 gallon increments where I want them are really handy.

They literally ate tiny little holes through the jugs and the water spilled out into the carpet and floor. I originally thought the jugs failed, but then I found nice neat perfectly round holes in the side of the jugs. They were also in cardboard boxes so they were supported well and less likely to fail. Another thing you can do ... do some homework ..build yourself a well bucket which is a 2 ft PVC pipe a few parts that allow the pipe to catch the water and then shut off when you lift it back up...a 100 ft piece of rope all can store in side the 4 inch pvc pipe . You just need to pull the well motor out drop the well bucket in to get water... it’s for really bad times but it sure is a relief knowing you have this stored away .
Another UA-cam channel advised if you don't live near a natural water source: a lake, river, creek, pond, etc., consider moving because when SHTF hits, and you don't have a long-term water source, that is pretty much a dead end, unless you plan to live at a FEMA camp, which is definitely NOT ideal!
I got one of those semi transparent white tanks. Was thinking of painting it to keep out light. How long would untreated water last in one of those? My plan was to filter everything anyway
Really, no 1 gallon milk jug style bottles? I have two 72" inch tall (5 shelf) steel industrial shelves with like 12 of these bottles per shelf. You really think they will explode/rupture, even if left untouched, indoors/controlled environment?
Milk plastic bottles do leak. So far, only the milk or water from same bottles leak. I stored them in my tub, and safe room. They leaked. Now only use the clear hard plastic or glass bottles. No leaks yet. I store everything in my house, so no excuse for leaking.
Yahshua - you know Him as Jesus - was born to a virgin, turned water to wine, taught, healed the sick, raised the dead, casted out demons, walked on water, and calmed the storm, among many other things. He was killed, and three days later He rose from the dead. Forty days later He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is returning very soon, but before He does, Satan, the devil, is coming to pretend to be Jesus. Satan is an angel, and he will have certain supernatural powers with which to try to fool everyone. He will, for example, be able to make fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. He will only be on earth a short time before the real King of Kings, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, returns. When the real Jesus comes we will all be transformed into our spiritual bodies at the same moment. Jesus came to offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life to anyone who believes and calls on His precious name! ...the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God... For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6:23 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - John 3:16-18 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. - Matthew 26:6-13 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. - Zephaniah 1:14 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. - Luke 9:56 the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23 Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
People if power grid goes down do not flush toilets with buckets of water in the back of the toilet, turn off all water valves and your main to the house and plug your toilets so you don't get contaminated back ups into your house, very important !!
You can make drip systems and funnels from cheap plastic bottles too. And yes, those gallons are trash! Sometimes they don't even make it home before they've started leaking, always avoid the milk jug style.
Warning about water bricks: they are awesome, but don't let clumsy imbeciles move them. It isn't just any "manual labor". Someone drops one of those, they will breach it. Make sure "that one guy" does not touch them when they need to be moved around. "That one guy" will ruin them.

You just need to pull the well motor out drop the well bucket in to get water... it’s for really bad times but it sure is a relief knowing you have this stored away .
Great information thanks for sharing 👍🙏🙏
You’re welcome! Thanks Kathleen!
I'm going to dehydrate my water. You can store SO much more in the same space.
😁
If you have the white or light colored containers....black them out with black tarps or garbage bags
Thank you Great information today 👍 😀 💧
Thank you Patricia!
Really, no 1 gallon milk jug style bottles? I have two 72" inch tall (5 shelf) steel industrial shelves with like 12 of these bottles per shelf. You really think they will explode/rupture, even if left untouched, indoors/controlled environment?
They are biodegradable and will start to collapse.
@@jackieparent5027 thanks. I went ahead and bought some blue 3 gallon containers to put them in.
Milk plastic bottles do leak. So far, only the milk or water from same bottles leak. I stored them in my tub, and safe room. They leaked. Now only use the clear hard plastic or glass bottles. No leaks yet. I store everything in my house, so no excuse for leaking.
I stored water in milk jugs for Y2K. They degraded to the point of resembling crocheted doilies after a few years.
@@lizardlady4324 wow. yep, i've replaced them all now, with the 3gallon water delivery "blue" style bottles.
Jesus came to offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life to anyone who believes and calls on His precious name!
...the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not
inherit the kingdom of God...
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God - Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6:23
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - John 3:16-18
Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. - Matthew 26:6-13
The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. - Zephaniah 1:14
For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. - Luke 9:56
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23
Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
People if power grid goes down do not flush toilets with buckets of water in the back of the toilet, turn off all water valves and your main to the house and plug your toilets so you don't get contaminated back ups into your house, very important !!

What, whats wrong with drinking distilled water?
Nothing at all, I have been drinking nothing else for over 15 years. Once you drink distilled water for a while all other water will taste nasty.
@@humbllbug that's what I figured
Nothing.
You can make drip systems and funnels from cheap plastic bottles too. And yes, those gallons are trash! Sometimes they don't even make it home before they've started leaking, always avoid the milk jug style.
Thanks for watching Heather!
Warning about water bricks: they are awesome, but don't let clumsy imbeciles move them. It isn't just any "manual labor". Someone drops one of those, they will breach it. Make sure "that one guy" does not touch them when they need to be moved around. "That one guy" will ruin them.
Also, have food safe silicone adhesive in case that does happen.
Yeah, those videos where they throw them out of the helicopter are not very accurate.

I had someone drop one from chest height onto my concrete garage floor. It got damaged, and I had to use silicone adhesive. So that's like... 3.5 foot drop?
Thanks for the info
Great video with a ton of options. Thank you!
Thank you Deborah!
