The Gospel is the good news about God's Covenant of Peace with the human race. While we were still enemies of God, He sent His only begotten son to filfill The Curse of The Law (the wages of Sin is Death). Jesus Christ was our substitute. He sacrificed himself as the spotless & genetically perfect lamb (the ultimate & final atonement for all the sins of Adam's race). By the POWER of His Holy Blood which had THE GOD GENE PARTICLE, He also purchased the souls of all humans, established The Kingdom of God within every human being, AND crushed the dominion of the A/C (Serpent's Head). Jesus defeated Sin, Death & Hell by His total obedience to The Heavenly Father, fulfilled every type, shadow.& prophecy about The Messiah. And also fulfilled The Law (every Mosaic Law). Must we also fulfill every type, shadow, prophecy & law written in the Old Testament Torah?? Clearly NOT. Bc Jesus did what no human could ever do bc He was the son of the Living God AND the son of man (Adam) thru Abraham's bloodline. On the cross, He said, "IT IS FINISHED." Anyone who claims to fulfill those very same OT types, shadows, prophecies & laws of The Messiah shows himself to be a counterfeit Christ. Jesus Christ is the Resurrection & the Life. He is the Way, the Truth & the Life everlasting. He came as the Prince of Peace & ascended as the King of Kings & Lord of Lords. All praises to the Messiah who saves those who will Believe in His Power & Glory & submit to His supreme authority given to Him by His Father YHVH.
You are correct, the problem with Calvinism is that they have no gospel to tell, because he said the gospel is that God redeemed his people for Christ’s sake. Well, how do I know I am one of his people then ? It is ridiculous, the gospel is that .Christ as my substitute took away my sin at Calvary and God does not count my trespass against me any longer. Or like you put it quoting the apostle Paul “Christ died for my sins”, that is the gospel, not this nonsense that Christ redeemed his people, which he did, but it is not the gospel since it is impossible for any of us to know we are his people or one of the elect unless first we are told that .Christ died for our sins (which is the gospel but Horton does not say it) as you point out.
The gospel is what God has done through the person and work of Christ . Repentance , faith good works are not the gospel but products of the gospel which vary in degree according to each person . Thank God what we do is not the Gospel or we would all be damned . And might I add that sanctification is a WORK of Gods free grace whereby he enables the Christian through the operation of the HOLY SPIRIT to die more and more to sin and to live more and more unto righteousness . It's still sola deo Gloria!!! Justification is an ACT of Gods free grace whereby he pardons all of our sins and imputes Christ righteousness to the sinner and declares him to be a Saint for the sake of Christ . Surely any other doctrine is Bad news .

Thank you for clarifying. I have come across many believers on UA-cam who say they believe in Christ BUT are also convinced they must strictly follow the 10 Commandments including the Sabbath. So they believe but they have not received God's Covenant of Peace thru the Prince of Peace. Jesus is the Christ, the annointed Messiah. The New Covenant of Grace thru Faith in Jesus Christ replaces the Old Covenant of Law thru Works. Jesus gave us all an entirely new set of Commandments & the Holy Spirit to teach us, remind us, convict us & regenerate us. Those under the Law are under the Old Covenant which leads to condemnation & death like the majority of Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years. Which means they are rejecting the New Covenant of Grace & Peace by the indwelling/outflowing of the Holy Spirit. Which means they are rejecting what Christ did on the cross bc they think it's not enough. They don't understand & rely on the power of the Holy Spirit which raised Jesus from the dead & birthed Him in the first place thru the Virgin Mary. Sadly, they rely on their own futile efforts (self-righteousness & their own understanding). Therefore, they cannot receive the clearly superior Righteousness of Christ thru IMPUTATION (a work of the Holy Spirit & The Blood of the Lamb). They have rejected Peace, Grace, Christ & the Spirit. But they can't hear you when you try to correct them with the Scriptures. They are lost but believe they are more saved & more Holy than other believers bc they keep the Sabbath.
